Llamando, pues, Isaac a Jacob , le dio su bendición, y le mandó diciendo: No quieras tomar mujer de la raza de Canaán.
ENTONCES Isaac llamó á Jacob, y bendíjolo, y mandóle diciendo: No tomes mujer de las hijas de Canaán.

Y el Dios todopoderoso te bendiga, y te aumente y multiplique, de suerte que vengas a ser padre de numerosos pueblos.

Y te dé la bendición de Abraham, y á tu simiente contigo, para que heredes la tierra de tus peregrinaciones, que Dios dió á Abraham.
And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

Despedido así de Isaac, partió a Mesopotamia de Siria, y se fue a casa de Labán, hijo de Batuel siro, hermano de Rebeca su madre.
Así envió Isaac á Jacob, el cual fué á Padan-aram, á Labán, hijo de Bethuel Arameo, hermano de Rebeca, madre de Jacob y de Esaú.
And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padan-aram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.

Jacob , pues, habiendo partido de Bersabee, proseguía su camino hacia Harán.

Y vio en sueños una escala fija en la tierra, cuyo remate tocaba en el cielo, y ángeles de Dios que subían y bajaban por ella,

y al Señor apoyado sobre la escala, que le decía: Yo soy el Señor Dios de Abrahán tu padre, y el Dios de Isaac. La tierra, en que duermes, te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia.
Y he aquí, Jehová estaba en lo alto de ella, el cual dijo: Yo soy Jehová, el Dios de Abraham tu padre, y el Dios de Isaac: la tierra en que estás acostado te la daré á ti y á tu simiente.

Y será tu posteridad tan numerosa como los granitos del polvo de la tierra: extenderte has al Occidente, y al Oriente, y al Septentrión, y al Mediodía: y SERAN BENDITAS EN TI y en el que saldrá o descenderá de ti todas las tribus o familias de la tierra.
Y será tu simiente como el polvo de la tierra, y te extenderás al occidente, y al oriente, y al aquilón, y al mediodía; y todas las familias de la tierra serán benditas en ti y en tu simiente.
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

Yo seré tu guarda o custodio doquiera que fueres, y te restituiré a esta tierra; y no te dejaré de mi mano hasta que cumpla todas las cosas que tengo dichas.

Despertado Jacob del sueño, dijo: Verdaderamente que el Señor habita en este lugar, y yo no lo sabía.
Y despertó Jacob de su sueño, y dijo: Ciertamente Jehová está en este lugar, y yo no lo sabía.
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

Y todo despavorido, añadió: ¡Cuán terrible es este lugar! Verdaderamente ésta es la casa de Dios, y la puerta del cielo.

And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

Levantándose, pues, Jacob al amanecer, cogió la piedra que se había puesto por cabecera, y la erigió como un monumento de la visión, derramando óleo encima.
