1UND es begab sich, als Isaak alt geworden war und seine Augen trübe wurden, sodass er nicht mehr sehen konnte, da rief er Esau, seinen ältern Sohn, und sprach zu ihm: Mein Sohn! Er antwortete ihm: Hier bin ich.
2Da sprach er: Sieh, ich bin alt geworden und weiss nicht, wann ich sterben muss.
3So nimm nun dein Jagdgerät, Köcher und Bogen, geh aufs Feld und jage mir ein Wildbret;
4dann bereite mir ein gutes Gericht, wie ich es gerne habe, und bring es mir herein zum Essen, auf dass dich meine Seele segne, ehe ich sterbe.
5Rebekka aber hörte zu, wie Isaak mit seinem Sohne Esau redete. Als nun Esau aufs Feld ging, für seinen Vater ein Wildbret zu jagen,
6sprach Rebekka zu ihrem Sohne Jakob: Sieh, ich habe gehört, wie dein Vater zu deinem Bruder Esau sagte:
7"Bringe mir ein Wildbret und bereite mir ein gutes Gericht, dass ich esse; dann will ich dich segnen vor dem Angesicht des Herrn, ehe ich sterbe."
8So höre nun, mein Sohn, auf mich und tue, was ich dich heisse:
9Gehe zu der Herde und hole mir von dort zwei schöne Ziegenböcklein; dann will ich deinem Vater ein gutes Gericht bereiten, wie er es gerne hat.
10Das sollst du deinem Vater hineintragen, dass er esse und dich vor seinem Tode segne.
11Jakob aber sprach zu seiner Mutter Rebekka: Sieh, mein Bruder Esau ist behaart, und ich bin glatt.
12Vielleicht könnte mein Vater mich betasten; dann stünde ich vor ihm als einer, der seinen Spott mit ihm treibt, und ich brächte über mich einen Fluch und nicht einen Segen.
13Da sprach seine Mutter zu ihm: Der Fluch komme über mich, mein Sohn! Höre du nur auf mich, geh und hole mir's.
14Da ging er hin, holte die Böcklein und brachte sie seiner Mutter. Und seine Mutter bereitete ein gutes Gericht, wie es sein Vater gerne hatte.
15Dann nahm Rebekka die Feierkleider Esaus, ihres ältern Sohnes, die sie bei sich im Hause hatte, und legte sie Jakob, ihrem jüngern Sohne, an.
16Die Felle von den Ziegenböcklein aber tat sie ihm um die Arme und um seinen glatten Hals.
17Dann gab sie das gute Gericht, das sie bereitet hatte, und das Brot ihrem Sohne Jakob in die Hand.
18So ging er zu seinem Vater hinein und sprach: Vater! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich; wer bist du, mein Sohn?
19Jakob sprach zu seinem Vater: Ich bin Esau, dein Erstgeborner; ich habe getan, wie du mir befohlen hast. Setze dich auf und iss von meinem Wildbret, auf dass mich deine Seele segne.
20Isaak aber sprach zu seinem Sohne: Mein Sohn, wie hast du es so bald gefunden? Er antwortete: Der Herr, dein Gott, hat es mir begegnen lassen.
21Da sprach Isaak zu Jakob: Tritt herzu, mein Sohn, dass ich dich betaste, ob du wirklich mein Sohn Esau seiest oder nicht.
22Nun trat Jakob zu seinem Vater Isaak, und als er ihn betastet hatte, sprach er: Die Stimme ist Jakobs Stimme, aber die Arme sind Esaus Arme.
23Und er erkannte ihn nicht; denn seine Arme waren behaart, wie die Arme seines Bruders Esau. So segnete er ihn denn.
24Und er sprach zu ihm: Bist du wirklich mein Sohn Esau? Er antwortete: Ja, das bin ich.
25Da sprach er: So trage mir auf, dass ich esse von dem Wildbret meines Sohnes, auf dass dich meine Seele segne. Da trug er ihm auf, und er ass; und er brachte ihm auch Wein, und er trank.
26Dann sprach sein Vater Isaak zu ihm: Komm her, mein Sohn, und küsse mich.
27Und er trat herzu und küsste ihn. Da roch er den Geruch seiner Kleider, und er segnete ihn und sprach: Siehe, der Geruch meines Sohnes / ist wie der Geruch des Feldes, / das der Herr gesegnet hat. /
28Gott gebe dir vom Tau des Himmels / und vom Fett der Erde / und Korn und Wein die Fülle! /
29Völker sollen dir dienen / und Nationen sich vor dir beugen! / Sei ein Herr über deine Brüder, / und deiner Mutter Söhne sollen sich vor dir beugen! / Verflucht ist, wer dir flucht, / und gesegnet, wer dich segnet! (a) 1Mo 25:23; 12:3
30Als nun Isaak den Segen über Jakob eben vollendet hatte und Jakob kaum von seinem Vater Isaak hinausgegangen war, da kam sein Bruder Esau von der Jagd heim;
31der bereitete auch ein gutes Gericht und trug es seinem Vater hinein. Und er sprach zu seinem Vater: Richte dich auf, Vater, und iss von dem Wildbret deines Sohnes, auf dass mich deine Seele segne.
32Sein Vater Isaak aber sprach zu ihm: Wer bist du? Er antwortete: Ich bin dein Sohn, dein Erstgeborner, Esau.
33Da entsetzte sich Isaak über alle Massen und sprach: Wer war denn der, der ein Wild gejagt und es mir hereingebracht hat? Nun habe ich eben schon gegessen, ehe du kamst, und habe ihn gesegnet; er wird auch gesegnet bleiben.
34Als Esau die Worte seines Vaters hörte, schrie er gar laut und kläglich auf und sprach zu seinem Vater: Segne mich auch, Vater!
35Er aber sprach: Dein Bruder ist gekommen mit Hinterlist und hat dir den Segen vorweggenommen.
36Da sprach er: Mit Recht heisst er Jakob; denn er hat mich nun zweimal hintergangen. Die Erstgeburt hat er mir genommen, und nun nimmt er mir auch den Segen. Und er sprach: Hast du mir keinen Segen vorbehalten? (1) d.i. der Hinterlistige. (a) 1Mo 25:33
37Isaak antwortete und sprach zu Esau: Sieh, ich habe ihn zum Herrn über dich gesetzt und alle seine Brüder ihm zu Knechten gegeben; mit Korn und Wein habe ich ihn versehen. Was kann ich da für dich noch tun, mein Sohn?
38Esau sprach zu seinem Vater: Hast du denn nur den einen Segen, Vater? Segne mich auch, Vater! Und Esau hob laut zu weinen an.
39Da antwortete sein Vater Isaak und sprach zu ihm: Sieh, fern vom Fett der Erde soll deine Wohnung sein / und fern vom Tau des Himmels droben. /
40Von deinem Schwerte musst du leben, / und deinem Bruder sollst du dienen. / Doch wird's geschehen: wenn du dich mühst, / wirst du sein Joch von deinem Halse reissen. (a) 2Kön 8:20
41Esau aber ward dem Jakob feind um des Segens willen, mit dem ihn sein Vater gesegnet hatte. Und Esau sprach bei sich selbst: Bald kommt die Zeit der Trauer um meinen Vater; dann will ich meinen Bruder Jakob töten.
42Als nun der Rebekka die Worte ihres ältern Sohnes Esau hinterbracht wurden, schickte sie hin und liess ihren jüngern Sohn Jakob rufen und sprach zu ihm: Sieh, dein Bruder Esau will an dir Rache nehmen und dich töten.
43So höre nun auf mich, mein Sohn: mache dich auf und fliehe zu meinem Bruder Laban nach Haran, (a) 1Mo 24:29
44und bleibe eine Zeitlang bei ihm, bis deines Bruders Grimm sich legt,
45bis sich der Zorn deines Bruders von dir wendet und er vergisst, was du ihm angetan hast; dann will ich nach dir schicken und dich von dort holen lassen. Warum sollte ich euch beide an einem Tag verlieren?
46UND Rebekka sprach zu Isaak: Mir ist das Leben verleidet ob der Hethiterinnen; wenn Jakob auch ein solches Weib nimmt, eine von den Töchtern der Hethiter, eine Einheimische, was soll mir da das Leben? (a) 1Mo 26:34 35

1Y ACONTECIÓ que cuando hubo Isaac envejecido, y sus ojos se ofuscaron quedando sin vista, llamó á Esaú, su hijo el mayor, y díjole: Mi hijo. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.
2Y él dijo: He aquí ya soy viejo, no sé el día de mi muerte:
3Toma, pues, ahora tus armas, tu aljaba y tu arco, y sal al campo, y cógeme caza;
4Y hazme un guisado, como yo gusto, y tráemelo, y comeré; para que te bendiga mi alma antes que muera.
5Y Rebeca estaba oyendo, cuando hablaba Isaac á Esaú su hijo: y fuése Esaú al campo para coger la caza que había de traer.
6Entonces Rebeca habló á Jacob su hijo, diciendo: He aquí yo he oído á tu padre que hablaba con Esaú tu hermano, diciendo:
7Tráeme caza, y hazme un guisado, para que coma, y te bendiga delante de Jehová antes que yo muera.
8Ahora pues, hijo mío, obedece á mi voz en lo que te mando;
9Ve ahora al ganado, y tráeme de allí dos buenos cabritos de las cabras, y haré de ellos viandas para tu padre, como él gusta;
10Y tú las llevarás á tu padre, y comerá, para que te bendiga antes de su muerte.
11Y Jacob dijo á Rebeca su madre: He aquí, Esaú mi hermano es hombre velloso, y yo lampiño:
12Quizá me tentará mi padre, y me tendrá por burlador, y traeré sobre mí maldición y no bendición.
13Y su madre respondió: Hijo mío, sobre mí tu maldición: solamente obedece á mi voz, y ve y tráemelos.
14Entonces él fué, y tomó, y trájolos á su madre: y su madre hizo guisados, como su padre gustaba.
15Y tomó Rebeca los vestidos de Esaú su hijo mayor, los preciosos, que ella tenía en casa, y vistió á Jacob su hijo menor:
16E hízole vestir sobre sus manos, y sobre la cerviz donde no tenía vello, las pieles de los cabritos de las cabras;
17Y entregó los guisados y el pan que había aderezado, en mano de Jacob su hijo.
18Y él fué á su padre, y dijo: Padre mío: y él respondió: Heme aquí, ¿quién eres, hijo mío?
19Y Jacob dijo á su padre: Yo soy Esaú tu primogénito; he hecho como me dijiste: levántate ahora, y siéntate, y come de mi caza, para que me bendiga tu alma.
20Entonces Isaac dijo á su hijo: ¿Cómo es que la hallaste tan presto, hijo mío? Y él respondió: Porque Jehová tu Dios hizo que se encontrase delante de mí.
21E Isaac dijo á Jacob: Acércate ahora, y te palparé, hijo mío, por si eres mi hijo Esaú, ó no.
22Y llegóse Jacob á su padre Isaac; y él le palpó, y dijo: La voz es la voz de Jacob, mas las manos, las manos de Esaú.
23Y no le conoció, porque sus manos eran vellosas como las manos de Esaú: y le bendijo.
24Y dijo: ¿Eres tú mi hijo Esaú? Y él respondió: Yo soy.
25Y dijo: Acércamela, y comeré de la caza de mi hijo, para que te bendiga mi alma; y él se la acercó, y comió: trájole también vino, y bebió.
26Y díjole Isaac su padre: Acércate ahora, y bésame, hijo mío.
27Y él se llegó, y le besó; y olió Isaac el olor de sus vestidos, y le bendijo, y dijo: Mira, el olor de mi hijo como el olor del campo que Jehová ha bendecido:
28Dios, pues, te dé del rocío del cielo, y de las grosuras de la tierra, y abundancia de trigo y de mosto.
29Sírvante pueblos, y naciones se inclinen á ti: sé señor de tus hermanos, e inclínense á ti los hijos de tu madre: malditos los que te maldijeren, y benditos los que te bendijeren.
30Y aconteció, luego que hubo Isaac acabado de bendecir á Jacob, y apenas había salido Jacob de delante de Isaac su padre, que Esaú su hermano vino de su caza.
31E hizo él también guisados, y trajo á su padre, y díjole: Levántese mi padre, y coma de la caza de su hijo, para que me bendiga tu alma.
32Entonces Isaac su padre le dijo: ¿Quién eres tú? Y él dijo: Yo soy tu hijo, tu primogénito, Esaú.
33Y estremecióse Isaac con grande estremecimiento, y dijo: ¿Quién es el que vino aquí, que cogió caza, y me trajo, y comí de todo antes que vinieses? Yo le bendije, y será bendito.
34Como Esaú oyó las palabras de su padre, clamó con una muy grande y muy amarga exclamación, y le dijo: Bendíceme también á mí, padre mío.
35Y él dijo: Vino tu hermano con engaño, y tomó tu bendición.
36Y él respondió: Bien llamaron su nombre Jacob, que ya me ha engañado dos veces; alzóse con mi primogenitura, y he aquí ahora ha tomado mi bendición. Y dijo: ¿No has guardado bendición para mí?
37Isaac respondió y dijo á Esaú: He aquí yo le he puesto por señor tuyo, y le he dado por siervos á todos sus hermanos: de trigo y de vino le he provisto: ¿qué, pues, te haré á ti ahora, hijo mío?
38Y Esaú respondió á su padre: ¿No tienes más que una sola bendición, padre mío? bendíceme también á mí, padre mío. Y alzó Esaú su voz, y lloró.
39Entonces Isaac su padre habló y díjole: He aquí será tu habitación en grosuras de la tierra, y del rocío de los cielos de arriba;
40Y por tu espada vivirás, y á tu hermano servirás: y sucederá cuando te enseñorees, que descargarás su yugo de tu cerviz.
41Y aborreció Esaú á Jacob por la bendición con que le había bendecido, y dijo en su corazón: Llegarán los días del luto de mi padre, y yo mataré á Jacob mi hermano.
42Y fueron dichas á Rebeca las palabras de Esaú su hijo mayor: y ella envió y llamó á Jacob su hijo menor, y díjole: He aquí, Esaú tu hermano se consuela acerca de ti con la idea de matarte.
43Ahora pues, hijo mío, obedece á mi voz; levántate, y húyete á Labán mi hermano, á Harán;
44Y mora con él algunos días, hasta que el enojo de tu hermano se mitigue;
45Hasta que se aplaque la ira de tu hermano contra ti, y se olvide de lo que le has hecho: yo enviaré entonces, y te traeré de allá: ¿por qué seré privada de vosotros ambos en un día?
46Y dijo Rebeca á Isaac: Fastidio tengo de mi vida, á causa de las hijas de Heth. Si Jacob toma mujer de las hijas de Heth, como éstas, de las hijas de esta tierra, ¿para qué quiero la vida?

1And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.
2And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:
3Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;
4And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.
5And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
7Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.
8Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.
9Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:
10And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.
11And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:
12My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
13And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.
14And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.
15And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
16And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
17And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
19And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
20And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.
21And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.
22And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.
24And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.
25And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.
26And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
27And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:
28Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
29Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
30And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.
32And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
33And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
34And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.
35And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.
36And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
37And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
38And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
40And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
41And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
42And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.
43Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;
44And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away;
45Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
46And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

1When Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his elder son, and said to him, “My son?” He said to him, “Here I am.”
2He said, “See now, I am old. I don’t know the day of my death.
3Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and get me venison.
4Make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat, and that my soul may bless you before I die.”
5Rebekah heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, “Behold, I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying,
7‘Bring me venison, and make me savory food, that I may eat, and bless you before the LORD before my death.’
8Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command you.
9Go now to the flock and get me two good young goats from there. I will make them savory food for your father, such as he loves.
10You shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, so that he may bless you before his death.”
11Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.
12What if my father touches me? I will seem to him as a deceiver, and I would bring a curse on myself, and not a blessing.”
13His mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go get them for me.”
14He went, and got them, and brought them to his mother. His mother made savory food, such as his father loved.
15Rebekah took the good clothes of Esau, her elder son, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob, her younger son.
16She put the skins of the young goats on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck.
17She gave the savory food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18He came to his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”
19Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done what you asked me to do. Please arise, sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.”
20Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” He said, “Because the LORD your God gave me success.”
21Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.”
22Jacob went near to Isaac his father. He felt him, and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
23He didn’t recognize him, because his hands were hairy, like his brother Esau’s hands. So he blessed him.
24He said, “Are you really my son Esau?” He said, “I am.”
25He said, “Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless you.” He brought it near to him, and he ate. He brought him wine, and he drank.
26His father Isaac said to him, “Come near now, and kiss me, my son.”
27He came near, and kissed him. He smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, “Behold, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed.
28God give you of the dew of the sky, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.
29Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers. Let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you. Blessed be everyone who blesses you.”
30As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had just gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31He also made savory food, and brought it to his father. He said to his father, “Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that your soul may bless me.”
32Isaac his father said to him, “Who are you?” He said, “I am your son, your firstborn, Esau.”
33Isaac trembled violently, and said, “Who, then, is he who has taken venison, and brought it to me, and I have eaten of all before you came, and have blessed him? Yes, he will be blessed.”
34When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, my father.”
35He said, “Your brother came with deceit, and has taken away your blessing.”
36He said, “Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said, “Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”
37Isaac answered Esau, “Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants. I have sustained him with grain and new wine. What then will I do for you, my son?”
38Esau said to his father, “Do you have just one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father.” Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39Isaac his father answered him, “Behold, your dwelling will be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the sky from above.
40You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”
41Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
42The words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah. She sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and said to him, “Behold, your brother Esau comforts himself about you by planning to kill you.
43Now therefore, my son, obey my voice. Arise, flee to Laban, my brother, in Haran.
44Stay with him a few days, until your brother’s fury turns away—
45until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send, and get you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?”
46Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?”
