Siendo ya viejo Isaac, se le debilitó la vista, de modo que llegó a faltarle. Llamó, pues, a Esaú, su hijo mayor, y le dijo: ¡Hijo mío! El cual respondió: Aquí estoy.
Y ACONTECIÓ que cuando hubo Isaac envejecido, y sus ojos se ofuscaron quedando sin vista, llamó á Esaú, su hijo el mayor, y díjole: Mi hijo. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.
And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

Lo que oído por Rebeca, luego que partió aquél al campo para cumplir el mandato de su padre,

Tráeme de tu caza, y guísame un plato que le comeré, y te echaré mi bendición en presencia del Señor antes que me muera.

Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.

Ahora bien, hijo mío, toma mi consejo,

y yendo al ganado, tráeme dos de los mejores cabritos, para que yo guise de ellos a tu padre aquellos platos de que come con gusto:
Ve ahora al ganado, y tráeme de allí dos buenos cabritos de las cabras, y haré de ellos viandas para tu padre, como él gusta;
Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

Y sirviéndoselos tú, después que hubiere comido, te dé la bendición antes de morir.
Y tú las llevarás á tu padre, y comerá, para que te bendiga antes de su muerte.
And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

A lo cual respondió Jacob : Tú sabes que mi hermano Esaú es hombre velloso, y yo lampiño;

si mi padre me palpa con sus manos, y llega a conocerme, temo que piense que yo he querido burlarle, y acarrearé sobre mí su maldición en lugar de la bendición.
Quizá me tentará mi padre, y me tendrá por burlador, y traeré sobre mí maldición y no bendición.
My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
What if my father touches me? I will seem to him as a deceiver, and I would bring a curse on myself, and not a blessing.”
Al cual la madre: Sobre mí, dijo, caiga esa maldición, hijo mío; tú haz solamente lo que yo te aconsejo, y date prisa en traer lo que te tengo dicho.
Y su madre respondió: Hijo mío, sobre mí tu maldición: solamente obedece á mi voz, y ve y tráemelos.
And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.
His mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go get them for me.”
Fue Jacob y lo trajo, y lo dio a la madre, la cual le guisó los manjares, según que sabía ser del gusto de su padre.
Entonces él fué, y tomó, y trájolos á su madre: y su madre hizo guisados, como su padre gustaba.
And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

Y vistió después a Jacob con los más ricos vestidos de Esaú, que tenía guardados en casa.
Y tomó Rebeca los vestidos de Esaú su hijo mayor, los preciosos, que ella tenía en casa, y vistió á Jacob su hijo menor:
And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

Y le envolvió las manos con las delicadas pieles de los cabritos, cubriendo también con ellas la parte desnuda del cuello.
E hízole vestir sobre sus manos, y sobre la cerviz donde no tenía vello, las pieles de los cabritos de las cabras;
And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

Le dio después el guisado, y los panes que había cocido.

Todo lo cual llevándolo él adentro, dijo: ¡Padre mío! A lo que respondió él: Oigo. ¡Quién eres tú, hijo mío?

And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

Dijo Jacob : Yo soy tu primogénito Esaú; he hecho lo que me mandaste; levántate, incorpórate, y come de mi caza, para que me des la bendición.
Y Jacob dijo á su padre: Yo soy Esaú tu primogénito; he hecho como me dijiste: levántate ahora, y siéntate, y come de mi caza, para que me bendiga tu alma.
And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done what you asked me to do. Please arise, sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.”
Le replicó Isaac a su hijo: ¿Cómo, dijo, has podido encontrarla tan presto, hijo mío? El cual respondió: Dios dispuso que luego se me pusiese delante lo que deseaba.
Entonces Isaac dijo á su hijo: ¿Cómo es que la hallaste tan presto, hijo mío? Y él respondió: Porque Jehová tu Dios hizo que se encontrase delante de mí.
And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.
Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” He said, “Because the LORD your God gave me success.”
Dijo todavía Isaac: Acércate, hijo mío, para que yo te toque, y reconozca si tú eres o no el hijo mío Esaú.
E Isaac dijo á Jacob: Acércate ahora, y te palparé, hijo mío, por si eres mi hijo Esaú, ó no.
And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.
Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.”
Se acercó al padre, y habiéndole palpado, dijo Isaac: Cierto que la voz es voz de Jacob ; pero las manos son manos de Esaú.
Y llegóse Jacob á su padre Isaac; y él le palpó, y dijo: La voz es la voz de Jacob, mas las manos, las manos de Esaú.
And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

Y no le conoció, porque las manos vellosas representaban al vivo la semejanza del mayor. Queriendo, pues, bendecirle,

And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.

Pues tráeme acá, hijo mío, el plato de tu caza, para que te bendiga mi alma. Y habiéndoselo presentado, después que comió de él le sirvió también vino; bebido el cual,
Y dijo: Acércamela, y comeré de la caza de mi hijo, para que te bendiga mi alma; y él se la acercó, y comió: trájole también vino, y bebió.
And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.

dijo: Llégate a mí, y dame un beso, hijo mío.
Y díjole Isaac su padre: Acércate ahora, y bésame, hijo mío.

Llegó, y le besó. Y al instante que sintió la fragancia de sus vestidos, bendiciéndole, le dijo: Bien se ve que el olor que sale de mi hijo es como el olor de un campo florido, al cual bendijo el Señor.
Y él se llegó, y le besó; y olió Isaac el olor de sus vestidos, y le bendijo, y dijo: Mira, el olor de mi hijo como el olor del campo que Jehová ha bendecido:
And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:
He came near, and kissed him. He smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, “Behold, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed.
Te dé Dios, por medio del rocío del cielo, y de la fertilidad de la tierra, abundancia de trigo y vino.
Dios, pues, te dé del rocío del cielo, y de las grosuras de la tierra, y abundancia de trigo y de mosto.
Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

Te sírvan los pueblos, y adórente las tribus: sé señor de tus hermanos, e inclínense profundamente delante de ti los hijos de tu madre. Quien te maldijere, sea él maldito, y el que te bendijere, de bendiciones sea colmado.
Sírvante pueblos, y naciones se inclinen á ti: sé señor de tus hermanos, e inclínense á ti los hijos de tu madre: malditos los que te maldijeren, y benditos los que te bendijeren.
Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers. Let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you. Blessed be everyone who blesses you.”
Apenas Isaac había acabado de decir estas palabras, y salido Jacob afuera, cuando llegó Esaú.
Y aconteció, luego que hubo Isaac acabado de bendecir á Jacob, y apenas había salido Jacob de delante de Isaac su padre, que Esaú su hermano vino de su caza.
And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had just gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
Y presentando a su padre las viandas de la caza, que había guisado, le dijo: Levántate, padre mío, y come de la caza de tu hijo, para que me bendiga tu alma.
E hizo él también guisados, y trajo á su padre, y díjole: Levántese mi padre, y coma de la caza de su hijo, para que me bendiga tu alma.
And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

Le dijo Isaac: Pues, ¿quién eres tú? El cual respondió: Yo soy tu hijo primogénito Esaú.
Entonces Isaac su padre le dijo: ¿Quién eres tú? Y él dijo: Yo soy tu hijo, tu primogénito, Esaú.
And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

Quedó atónito Isaac, y como estático; y sobre toda ponderación pasmado, dijo: ¿Quién es, pues, aquél que hace poco me ha traído de la caza que cogió, y he comido de todo antes que tú vinieses? El caso es que yo le bendije, y bendito será.
Y estremecióse Isaac con grande estremecimiento, y dijo: ¿Quién es el que vino aquí, que cogió caza, y me trajo, y comí de todo antes que vinieses? Yo le bendije, y será bendito.
And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
Isaac trembled violently, and said, “Who, then, is he who has taken venison, and brought it to me, and I have eaten of all before you came, and have blessed him? Yes, he will be blessed.”
Oídas las palabras del padre, arrojó Esaú un grito furioso; y consternado, dijo: Dame también a mí tu bendición, ¡oh padre mío!
Como Esaú oyó las palabras de su padre, clamó con una muy grande y muy amarga exclamación, y le dijo: Bendíceme también á mí, padre mío.
And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

El cual le respondió: Vino tu hermano astutamente, y se ha llevado tu bendición.
Y él dijo: Vino tu hermano con engaño, y tomó tu bendición.
And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.
He said, “Your brother came with deceit, and has taken away your blessing.”
A lo que replicó Esaú: Con razón se le puso el nombre de Jacob : porque ya es ésta la segunda vez que me ha suplantado; antes ya se alzó con mi primogenitura, y ahora de nuevo me ha robado la bendición mía. Y vuelto a su padre: ¿Pues qué, le dijo, no has reservado bendición para mí?
Y él respondió: Bien llamaron su nombre Jacob, que ya me ha engañado dos veces; alzóse con mi primogenitura, y he aquí ahora ha tomado mi bendición. Y dijo: ¿No has guardado bendición para mí?
And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
He said, “Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said, “Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”
Le respondió Isaac: Yo le he constituido señor tuyo, y he sometido todos sus hermanos a su servicio: le aseguré las cosechas de granos y de vino: después de esto, ¿qué puedo yo ahora hacer por ti, hijo mío?
Isaac respondió y dijo á Esaú: He aquí yo le he puesto por señor tuyo, y le he dado por siervos á todos sus hermanos: de trigo y de vino le he provisto: ¿qué, pues, te haré á ti ahora, hijo mío?
And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
Isaac answered Esau, “Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants. I have sustained him with grain and new wine. What then will I do for you, my son?”
Al cual replicó Esaú: ¿Por ventura no tienes, padre mío, sino una sola bendición? Te ruego que también me bendigas a mí. Y como llorase con grandes alaridos,
Y Esaú respondió á su padre: ¿No tienes más que una sola bendición, padre mío? bendíceme también á mí, padre mío. Y alzó Esaú su voz, y lloró.
And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

Isaac conmovido, le dijo estas palabras: En la grosura de la tierra, y en el rocío que cae del cielo,
Entonces Isaac su padre habló y díjole: He aquí será tu habitación en grosuras de la tierra, y del rocío de los cielos de arriba;
And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
Isaac his father answered him, “Behold, your dwelling will be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the sky from above.
será tu bendición. Vivirás de tu espada, y servirás a tu hermano; pero llegará tiempo en que sacudirás su yugo, y librarás de él tu cerviz.
Y por tu espada vivirás, y á tu hermano servirás: y sucederá cuando te enseñorees, que descargarás su yugo de tu cerviz.
And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”
Esaú, pues, mantenía siempre vivo su odio a Jacob , con motivo de la bendición que le había dado el padre, y dijo en su corazón: Vendrán los días de luto de mi padre, y yo mataré a mi hermano Jacob .
Y aborreció Esaú á Jacob por la bendición con que le había bendecido, y dijo en su corazón: Llegarán los días del luto de mi padre, y yo mataré á Jacob mi hermano.
And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

Tuvo de esto noticia Rebeca, la cual enviando a llamar a su hijo Jacob , le dijo: Mira que tu hermano Esaú amenaza que te ha de matar.
Y fueron dichas á Rebeca las palabras de Esaú su hijo mayor: y ella envió y llamó á Jacob su hijo menor, y díjole: He aquí, Esaú tu hermano se consuela acerca de ti con la idea de matarte.
And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.
The words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah. She sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and said to him, “Behold, your brother Esau comforts himself about you by planning to kill you.
Ahora, pues, hijo mío, créeme a mí, y sin perder tiempo huye a casa de mi hermano Labán en la ciudad de Harán.

Y estarás allí con él algunos días, hasta que se amanse el furor de tu hermano,

se pase su cólera, y se olvide de lo que has hecho contra él: después enviaré por ti, y te traeré acá. ¿Por qué he de perder a mis dos hijos en un día?
Hasta que se aplaque la ira de tu hermano contra ti, y se olvide de lo que le has hecho: yo enviaré entonces, y te traeré de allá: ¿por qué seré privada de vosotros ambos en un día?
Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send, and get you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?”
Dijo después Rebeca a Isaac: Fastidiada estoy de vivir, a causa de estas hijas de Het: si Jacob llega a tomar mujer de este país, no quiero vivir más.
Y dijo Rebeca á Isaac: Fastidio tengo de mi vida, á causa de las hijas de Heth. Si Jacob toma mujer de las hijas de Heth, como éstas, de las hijas de esta tierra, ¿para qué quiero la vida?
And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?
Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?”
