Y multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo, y daré á tu simiente todas estas tierras; y todas las gentes de la tierra serán benditas en tu simiente:
And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

Als er aber schon längere Zeit dort wohnte, begab es sich, dass einst Abimelech, der König der Philister, zum Fenster hinausschaute; da sah er Isaak mit seinem Weibe Rebekka kosen.

Abimelech aber sprach: Was hast du uns da angetan! Wie leicht hätte einer aus dem Volke deinem Weibe Gewalt antun können, und du hättest eine Schuld über uns gebracht.

And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

Darnach gebot Abimelech dem ganzen Volke: Wer diesen Mann oder sein Weib anrührt, ist des Todes!
Entonces Abimelech mandó á todo el pueblo, diciendo: El que tocare á este hombre ó á su mujer, de cierto morirá.

Und Abimelech sprach zu Isaak: Ziehe von uns hinweg, denn du bist uns viel zu mächtig geworden.

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

Da baute er an der Stelle einen Altar und rief den Namen des Herrn an. Und Isaak schlug dort sein Zelt auf, und seine Knechte gruben daselbst einen Brunnen.

Nun kam einst Abimelech zu ihm von Gerar mit seinem Freunde Ahussat und seinem Feldhauptmann Pichol.

Da sprach Isaak zu ihnen: Warum kommt ihr zu mir, da ihr mich doch hasset und mich von euch weggeschickt habt?

And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

dass du uns nichts zuleide tuest, wie auch wir dich nicht angerührt und dir nur Gutes getan und dich in Frieden haben ziehen lassen. Du bist nun einmal der Gesegnete des Herrn.
Que no nos hagas mal, como nosotros no te hemos tocado, y como solamente te hemos hecho bien, y te enviamos en paz: tú ahora, bendito de Jehová.
That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.

die waren für Isaak und Rebekka ein schwerer Kummer.
