En aquella época hubo mucha hambre en esa región, tal como había ocurrido antes en el tiempo de Abraham. Isaac entonces se trasladó a la ciudad de Guerar, donde vivía Abimélec el rey de los filisteos.

Y HUBO hambre en la tierra, además de la primera hambre que fué en los días de Abraham: y fuése Isaac á Abimelech rey de los Filisteos, en Gerar.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
