Abraham prit une nouvelle épouse, nommée Ketoura.

Y ABRAHAM tomó otra mujer, cuyo nombre fué Cetura;

Abraham donna tout ce qu'il possédait à Isaac.

Y Abraham dió todo cuanto tenía á Isaac.

Après la mort d'Abraham, le Seigneur bénit Isaac, son fils. Isaac s'établit prés de la source du Vivant-qui-me-voit.

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.

Isaac avait quarante ans lorsqu'il prit pour épouse Rébecca, fille de Bathuel, l'Araméen, du territoire d'Aram, sœur de Laban, l'Araméen.

Y era Isaac de cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer á Rebeca, hija de Bethuel Arameo de Padan-aram, hermana de Labán Arameo.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

Le Seigneur lui dit: "Deux nations sont dans ton sein et deux peuples sortiront de tes entrailles; un peuple sera plus puissant que l’autre et l’aîné obéira au plus jeune."

Y respondióle Jehová: Dos gentes hay en tu seno, y dos pueblos serán divididos desde tus entrañas: y el un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro pueblo, y el mayor servirá al menor.

And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

The LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb. Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger.”

L'époque de sa délivrance arrivée, il se trouva qu'elle portait des jumeaux.

Ensuite naquit son frère tenant de la main le talon d'Ésaü et on le nomma Jacob. Isaac avait soixante ans lors de leur naissance.

And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

Les enfants ayant grandi, Ésaü devint un habile chasseur, un homme des champs, tandis que Jacob, homme inoffensif, vécut sous la tente.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

lsaac préférait Ésaü parce qu'il mettait du gibier dans sa bouche; mais Rébecca préférait Jacob.

Y amó Isaac á Esaú, porque comía de su caza; mas Rebeca amaba á Jacob.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Un jour Jacob faisait cuire un potage quand Ésaü revint des champs, fatigué.

Y guisó Jacob un potaje; y volviendo Esaú del campo cansado,

And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.

Ésaü dit à Jacob: "Laisse-moi avaler, je te prie, de ce rouge, de ce mets rouge, car je suis fatigué." C'est à ce propos qu'on le nomma Édom.

Dijo á Jacob: Ruégote que me des á comer de eso bermejo, pues estoy muy cansado. Por tanto fué llamado su nombre Edom.

And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

Jacob dit: "Vends-moi d'abord ton droit d'aînesse."

Ésaü répondit: "Certes! Je marche à la mort; à quoi me sert donc le droit d'aînesse?"

Entonces dijo Esaú: He aquí yo me voy á morir; ¿para qué, pues, me servirá la primogenitura?

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

Esau said, “Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?”

Jacob dit: "Jure le moi dès à présent." Et il lui fit serment et il vendit son droit d'aînesse à Jacob.

Y dijo Jacob: Júramelo en este día. Y él le juró, y vendió á Jacob su primogenitura.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

Jacob servit à Ésaü du pain et un plat de lentilles; il mangea et but, se leva et ressortit. C'est ainsi qu'Ésaü dédaigna le droit d'aînesse.
