y le dijo: Dame de esa menestra roja que has cocido, pues estoy sumamente cansado. Por cuya causa se le dio después el apellido de Edom.

Pues jurámelo, dijo Jacob . Esaú se lo juró y le vendió el derecho de primogenitura.
Y dijo Jacob: Júramelo en este día. Y él le juró, y vendió á Jacob su primogenitura.
And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

Y así habiendo tomado pan y aquel plato de lentejas, comió y bebió, y se marchó, dándosele muy poco de haber vendido sus derechos de primogénito.
Entonces Jacob dió á Esaú pan y del guisado de las lentejas; y él comió y bebió, y levantóse, y fuése. Así menospreció Esaú la primogenitura.
