1Abraham aber nahm nochmals eine Frau namens Ketura;
2die gebar ihm Simran und Joksan, Medan und Midian, Jisbak und Suah.
3Joksan wurde dann der Vater Sebas und Dedans; und die Söhne Dedans waren die Assuriter und Letusiter und die Leummiter.
4Die Söhne Midians waren Epha und Epher, Henoch, Abida und Eldaba. Alle diese sind Nachkommen der Ketura.
5Abraham aber übergab seinen gesamten Besitz dem Isaak;
6dagegen den Söhnen, die er von den Nebenweibern hatte, gab er nur Geschenke und ließ sie noch bei seinen Lebzeiten von seinem Sohn Isaak hinweg ostwärts in das Ostland ziehen.
7Dies aber ist die Zeit der Lebensjahre, die Abraham gelebt hat: 175 Jahre;
8da verschied und starb er in gesegnetem Alter, hochbetagt und lebenssatt, und wurde zu seinen Stammesgenossen versammelt.
9Seine Söhne Isaak und Ismael begruben ihn in der Höhle der Machpela auf dem Felde des Hethiters Ephron, des Sohnes Zohars, das östlich von Mamre lag,
10auf dem Felde, das Abraham von den Hethitern käuflich erworben hatte; dort sind Abraham und seine Frau Sara begraben worden.
11Nach Abrahams Tode aber segnete Gott dessen Sohn Isaak; dieser wohnte bei dem ›Brunnen des Lebendigen, der mich sieht‹.
12Dies ist der Stammbaum Ismaels, des Sohnes Abrahams, den die Ägypterin Hagar, die Leibmagd Saras, dem Abraham geboren hat;
13dies sind die Namen der Söhne Ismaels nach ihrer Geburtsfolge: Der erstgeborene Sohn Ismaels war Nebajoth, sodann Kedar, Abdeel und Mibsam,
14Misma, Duma und Massa,
15Hadad und Thema, Jetur, Naphis und Kedma.
16Dies waren die Söhne Ismaels und dies ihre Namen nach ihren Niederlassungen und ihren Zeltlagern; zwölf Fürsten entsprechend ihren Völkerschaften.
17Und dies war die Lebensdauer Ismaels: 137 Jahre; da verschied er und starb und wurde zu seinen Stammesgenossen versammelt.
18Sie hatten aber ihre Wohnsitze von Hawila an bis nach Sur, das östlich von Ägypten liegt, in der Richtung nach Assyrien hin: er hatte sich ostwärts von allen seinen Brüdern niedergelassen.
19Dies ist der Stammbaum Isaaks, des Sohnes Abrahams: Abraham war der Vater Isaaks;
20und Isaak war vierzig Jahre alt, als er Rebekka, die Tochter des Aramäers Bethuel aus Nord-Mesopotamien, die Schwester des Aramäers Laban, zur Frau nahm.
21Und Isaak betete zum HERRN für seine Frau, denn sie hatte keine Kinder; da ließ der HERR sich von ihm erbitten, so daß seine Frau Rebekka guter Hoffnung wurde.
22Als aber die beiden Kinder sich in ihrem Schoße stießen, sagte sie: »Wenn es so steht, wozu bin ich da in diesen Zustand gekommen?« Und sie ging hin, um den HERRN zu befragen.
23Da antwortete ihr der HERR: »Zwei Völker sind in deinem Mutterschoße, und zwei Volksstämme werden sich von deinem Leibe ausscheiden; der eine Stamm wird stärker sein als der andere, und der Ältere wird dem Jüngeren dienen.«
24Als nun die Zeit ihrer Niederkunft da war, stellte es sich wirklich heraus, daß Zwillinge in ihrem Leibe waren.
25Der erste, der zum Vorschein kam, war rotbraun, rauh am ganzen Leibe wie ein haariger Mantel; darum nannte man ihn Esau.
26Hierauf kam sein Bruder zum Vorschein, der mit seiner Hand die Ferse Esaus gefaßt hielt; darum nannte man ihn Jakob. Isaak aber war bei ihrer Geburt sechzig Jahre alt.
27Als nun die Knaben heranwuchsen, wurde Esau ein tüchtiger Jäger, ein Mann des freien Feldes; Jakob dagegen war ein stiller Mann, der in den Zelten blieb.
28Isaak hatte den Esau lieber, weil er gern Wildbret aß; Rebekka aber hatte Jakob lieber.
29Nun hatte Jakob eines Tages ein Gericht gekocht, als Esau ganz erschöpft vom Felde heimkam.
30Da sagte Esau zu Jakob: »Laß mich doch schnell essen von dem Roten, dem roten Gericht da, denn ich bin ganz erschöpft!« Darum gab man ihm den Namen Edom.
31Aber Jakob antwortete: »Verkaufe mir zuvor dein Erstgeburtsrecht!«
32Da erwiderte Esau: »Ach, ich muß ja doch (bald) sterben: wozu nützt mir da das Erstgeburtsrecht?«
33Jakob aber sagte: »Schwöre mir zuvor!« Da schwur er ihm und verkaufte so dem Jakob sein Erstgeburtsrecht.
34Hierauf gab Jakob dem Esau Brot und von dem Linsengericht. Als er dann gegessen und getrunken hatte, stand er auf und ging seines Weges. So gab Esau sein Erstgeburtsrecht geringschätzig preis.

1Y ABRAHAM tomó otra mujer, cuyo nombre fué Cetura;
2La cual le parió á Zimram, y á Joksan, y á Medan, y á Midiam, y á Ishbak, y á Sua.
3Y Joksan engendró á Seba, y á Dedán: é hijos de Dedán fueron Assurim, y Letusim, y Leummim.
4E hijos de Midiam: Epha, y Epher, y Enech, y Abida, y Eldaa. Todos estos fueron hijos de Cetura.
5Y Abraham dió todo cuanto tenía á Isaac.
6Y á los hijos de sus concubinas dió Abraham dones, y enviólos de junto Isaac su hijo, mientras él vivía, hacia el oriente, á la tierra oriental.
7Y estos fueron los días de vida que vivió Abraham: ciento setenta y cinco años.
8Y exhaló el espíritu, y murió Abraham en buena vejez, anciano y lleno de días, y fué unido á su pueblo.
9Y sepultáronlo Isaac é Ismael sus hijos en la cueva de Macpela, en la heredad de Ephrón, hijo de Zoar Hetheo, que está enfrente de Mamre;
10Heredad que compró Abraham de los hijos de Heth; allí fué Abraham sepultado, y Sara su mujer.
11Y sucedió, después de muerto Abraham, que Dios bendijo á Isaac su hijo: y habitó Isaac junto al pozo del Viviente que me ve.
12Y estas son las generaciones de Ismael, hijo de Abraham, que le parió Agar Egipcia, sierva de Sara:
13Estos, pues, son los nombres de los hijos de Ismael, por sus nombres, por sus linajes: El primogénito de Ismael, Nabaioth; luego Cedar, y Abdeel, y Mibsam,
14Y Misma, y Duma, y Massa,
15Hadad, y Tema, y Jetur, y Naphis, y Cedema.
16Estos son los hijos de Ismael, y estos sus nombres, por sus villas y por sus campamentos; doce príncipes por sus familias.
17Y estos fueron los años de la vida de Ismael, ciento treinta y siete años: y exhaló el espíritu Ismael, y murió; y fué unido á su pueblo.
18Y habitaron desde Havila hasta Shur, que está enfrente de Egipto viniendo á Asiria; y murió en presencia de todos sus hermanos.
19Y estas son las generaciones de Isaac, hijo de Abraham. Abraham engendró á Isaac:
20Y era Isaac de cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer á Rebeca, hija de Bethuel Arameo de Padan-aram, hermana de Labán Arameo.
21Y oró Isaac á Jehová por su mujer, que era estéril; y aceptólo Jehová, y concibió Rebeca su mujer.
22Y los hijos se combatían dentro de ella; y dijo: Si es así ¿para qué vivo yo? Y fué á consultar á Jehová.
23Y respondióle Jehová: Dos gentes hay en tu seno, y dos pueblos serán divididos desde tus entrañas: y el un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro pueblo, y el mayor servirá al menor.
24Y como se cumplieron sus días para parir, he aquí mellizos en su vientre.
25Y salió el primero rubio, y todo él velludo como una pelliza; y llamaron su nombre Esaú.
26Y después salió su hermano, trabada su mano al calcañar de Esaú: y fué llamado su nombre Jacob. Y era Isaac de edad de sesenta años cuando ella los parió.
27Y crecieron los niños, y Esaú fué diestro en la caza, hombre del campo: Jacob empero era varón quieto, que habitaba en tiendas.
28Y amó Isaac á Esaú, porque comía de su caza; mas Rebeca amaba á Jacob.
29Y guisó Jacob un potaje; y volviendo Esaú del campo cansado,
30Dijo á Jacob: Ruégote que me des á comer de eso bermejo, pues estoy muy cansado. Por tanto fué llamado su nombre Edom.
31Y Jacob respondió: Véndeme en este día tu primogenitura.
32Entonces dijo Esaú: He aquí yo me voy á morir; ¿para qué, pues, me servirá la primogenitura?
33Y dijo Jacob: Júramelo en este día. Y él le juró, y vendió á Jacob su primogenitura.
34Entonces Jacob dió á Esaú pan y del guisado de las lentejas; y él comió y bebió, y levantóse, y fuése. Así menospreció Esaú la primogenitura.

1Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
2And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
3And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
6But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
7And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
8Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
10The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.
12Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
19And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.
23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
27And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

8Abraham gave up his spirit, and died at a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.
9Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is near Mamre,
10the field which Abraham purchased from the children of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.

28Now Isaac loved Esau, because he ate his venison. Rebekah loved Jacob.
29Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.
30Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with some of that red stew, for I am famished.” Therefore his name was called Edom.
31Jacob said, “First, sell me your birthright.”
32Esau said, “Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?”
33Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.
34Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.
