1Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, daß Gott den Abraham versuchte; und er sprach zu ihm: Abraham! Und er sprach: Hier bin ich!
2Und er sprach: Nimm deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, den du lieb hast, den Isaak, und ziehe hin in das Land Morija, und opfere ihn daselbst als Brandopfer auf einem der Berge, den ich dir sagen werde.
3Und Abraham stand des Morgens früh auf und sattelte seinen Esel und nahm mit sich zwei von seinen Knaben und Isaak, seinen Sohn; und er spaltete Holz zum Brandopfer und machte sich auf und zog hin an den Ort, den Gott ihm gesagt hatte.
4Am dritten Tage, da erhob Abraham seine Augen und sah den Ort von ferne.
5Und Abraham sprach zu seinen Knaben: Bleibet ihr hier mit dem Esel; ich aber und der Knabe wollen bis dorthin gehen und anbeten und dann zu euch zurückkehren.
6Und Abraham nahm das Holz des Brandopfers und legte es auf Isaak, seinen Sohn; und in seine Hand nahm er das Feuer und das Messer; und sie gingen beide miteinander.
7Und Isaak sprach zu seinem Vater Abraham und sagte: Mein Vater! Und er sprach: Hier bin ich, mein Sohn. Und er sprach: Siehe, das Feuer und das Holz; wo aber ist das Schaf zum Brandopfer?
8Und Abraham sprach: Gott wird sich ersehen das Schaf zum Brandopfer, mein Sohn. Und sie gingen beide miteinander.
9Und sie kamen an den Ort, von dem Gott ihm gesagt hatte; und Abraham baute daselbst den Altar und schichtete das Holz; und er band seinen Sohn Isaak und legte ihn auf den Altar oben auf das Holz.
10Und Abraham streckte seine Hand aus und nahm das Messer, um seinen Sohn zu schlachten.
11Da rief ihm der Engel Jehovas vom Himmel zu und sprach: Abraham, Abraham! Und er sprach: Hier bin ich!
12Und er sprach: Strecke deine Hand nicht aus nach dem Knaben, und tue ihm gar nichts! Denn nun weiß ich, daß du Gott fürchtest und deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, mir nicht vorenthalten hast.
13Und Abraham erhob seine Augen und sah, und siehe, da war ein Widder dahinten im Dickicht festgehalten durch seine Hörner; und Abraham ging hin und nahm den Widder und opferte ihn als Brandopfer an seines Sohnes Statt.
14Und Abraham gab diesem Orte den Namen: Jehova wird ersehen; daher heutigen Tages gesagt wird: Auf dem Berge Jehovas wird ersehen werden.
15Und der Engel Jehovas rief Abraham ein zweites Mal vom Himmel zu
16und sprach: Ich schwöre bei mir selbst, spricht Jehova, daß, weil du dieses getan und deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, mir nicht vorenthalten hast,
17ich dich reichlich segnen und deinen Samen sehr mehren werde, wie die Sterne des Himmels und wie der Sand, der am Ufer des Meeres ist; und dein Same wird besitzen das Tor seiner Feinde;
18und in deinem Samen werden sich segnen alle Nationen der Erde: darum, daß du meiner Stimme gehorcht hast.
19Und Abraham kehrte zu seinen Knaben zurück, und sie machten sich auf und zogen miteinander nach Beerseba; und Abraham wohnte zu Beerseba.
20Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da wurde dem Abraham berichtet: Siehe, Milka, auch sie hat deinem Bruder Nahor Söhne geboren:
21Uz, seinen Erstgeborenen, und Bus, seinen Bruder, und Kemuel, den Vater Arams,
22und Kesed und Haso und Pildasch und Jidlaph und Bethuel.
23(Und Bethuel zeugte Rebekka.) Diese acht gebar Milka dem Nahor, dem Bruder Abrahams.
24Und sein Kebsweib, namens Reuma, auch sie gebar Tebach und Gacham und Tachasch und Maaka.

1Y ACONTECIÓ después de estas cosas, que tentó Dios á Abraham, y le dijo: Abraham. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.
2Y dijo: Toma ahora tu hijo, tu único, Isaac, á quien amas, y vete á tierra de Moriah, y ofrécelo allí en holocausto sobre uno de los montes que yo te diré.
3Y Abraham se levantó muy de mañana, y enalbardó su asno, y tomó consigo dos mozos suyos, y á Isaac su hijo: y cortó leña para el holocausto, y levantóse, y fué al lugar que Dios le dijo.
4Al tercer día alzó Abraham sus ojos, y vió el lugar de lejos.
5Entonces dijo Abraham á sus mozos: Esperaos aquí con el asno, y yo y el muchacho iremos hasta allí, y adoraremos, y volveremos á vosotros.
6Y tomó Abraham la leña del holocausto, y púsola sobre Isaac su hijo: y él tomó en su mano el fuego y el cuchillo; y fueron ambos juntos.
7Entonces habló Isaac á Abraham su padre, y dijo: Padre mío. Y él respondió: Heme aquí, mi hijo. Y él dijo: He aquí el fuego y la leña; mas ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?
8Y respondió Abraham: Dios se proveerá de cordero para el holocausto, hijo mío. E iban juntos.
9Y como llegaron al lugar que Dios le había dicho, edificó allí Abraham un altar, y compuso la leña, y ató á Isaac su hijo, y púsole en el altar sobre la leña.
10Y extendió Abraham su mano, y tomó el cuchillo, para degollar á su hijo.
11Entonces el ángel de Jehová le dió voces del cielo, y dijo: Abraham, Abraham. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.
12Y dijo: No extiendas tu mano sobre el muchacho, ni le hagas nada; que ya conozco que temes á Dios, pues que no me rehusaste tu hijo, tu único.
13Entonces alzó Abraham sus ojos, y miró, y he aquí un carnero á sus espaldas trabado en un zarzal por sus cuernos: y fué Abraham, y tomó el carnero, y ofrecióle en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.
14Y llamó Abraham el nombre de aquel lugar, Jehová proveerá. Por tanto se dice hoy: En el monte de Jehová será provisto.
15Y llamó el ángel de Jehová á Abraham segunda vez desde el cielo,
16Y dijo: Por mí mismo he jurado, dice Jehová, que por cuanto has hecho esto, y no me has rehusado tu hijo, tu único;
17Bendiciendo te bendeciré, y multiplicando multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo, y como la arena que está á la orilla del mar; y tu simiente poseerá las puertas de sus enemigos:
18En tu simiente serán benditas todas las gentes de la tierra, por cuanto obedeciste á mi voz.
19Y tornóse Abraham á sus mozos, y levantáronse y se fueron juntos á Beer-seba; y habitó Abraham en Beer-seba.
20Y aconteció después de estas cosas, que fué dada nueva á Abraham, diciendo: He aquí que también Milca ha parido hijos á Nachôr tu hermano:
21A Huz su primogénito, y á Buz su hermano, y á Kemuel padre de Aram,
22Y á Chêsed, y á Hazo, y á Pildas, y á Jidlaph, y á Bethuel.
23Y Bethuel engendró á Rebeca. Estos ocho parió Milca á Nachôr, hermano de Abraham.
24Y su concubina, que se llamaba Reúma, parió también á Teba, y á Gaham, y á Taas, y á Maachâ.

1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.
20And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
24And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
World English Bible
1After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”
2He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”
3Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.
4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.
5Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there. We will worship, and come back to you.”
6Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.
7Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
8Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.
9They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.
10Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.
11The LORD’s angel called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”
12He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
13Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
14Abraham called the name of that place “The LORD Will Provide”. As it is said to this day, “On the LORD’s mountain, it will be provided.”
15The LORD’s angel called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,
16and said, “‘I have sworn by myself,’ says the LORD, ‘because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,
17that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your offspring greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the gate of his enemies.
18All the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring, because you have obeyed my voice.’”
19So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.
20After these things, Abraham was told, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:
21Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,
22Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”
23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
24His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
