1Als nun die beiden Engel am Abend nach Sodom kamen, saß Lot gerade am Tor von Sodom. Sobald Lot sie erblickte, erhob er sich vor ihnen, verneigte sich mit dem Angesicht bis zur Erde
2und sagte: »Bitte, meine Herren! Kehrt doch im Hause eures Knechtes ein, um dort zu übernachten, und wascht euch die Füße; morgen früh mögt ihr euch dann wieder aufmachen und eures Weges ziehen.« Sie aber antworteten: »Nein, wir wollen hier im Freien übernachten.«
3Da nötigte er sie dringend, bis sie bei ihm einkehrten und in sein Haus eintraten. Dann bereitete er ihnen ein Mahl und ließ ungesäuerte Kuchen backen, die sie aßen.
4Noch hatten sie sich aber nicht schlafen gelegt, als die Männer der Stadt, die Bürger von Sodom, das Haus umzingelten, jung und alt, die ganze Bevölkerung bis auf den letzten Mann.
5Die riefen nach Lot und sagten zu ihm: »Wo sind die Männer, die heute abend zu dir gekommen sind? Bringe sie zu uns heraus, damit wir uns an sie machen!«
6Da trat Lot zu ihnen hinaus an den Eingang des Hauses, schloß aber die Tür hinter sich zu
7und sagte: »Meine Brüder, vergeht euch doch nicht so arg!
8Hört: ich habe zwei Töchter, die noch mit keinem Manne zu tun gehabt haben; die will ich zu euch herausbringen: macht dann mit ihnen, was euch beliebt. Nur diesen Männern tut nichts zuleide, nachdem sie einmal unter den Schatten meines Daches getreten sind!«
9Doch sie antworteten: »Zurück da!«, und weiter sagten sie: »Der ist der einzige Fremde, der gekommen ist, um hier zu wohnen, und will nun den Herrn spielen! Warte nur, wir wollen es mit dir noch schlimmer machen als mit jenen!« So drangen sie denn auf den Mann, auf Lot, mit Gewalt ein und gingen daran, die Tür zu erbrechen;
10doch die Männer griffen mit ihren Händen hinaus, zogen Lot zu sich ins Haus herein und verschlossen die Tür;
11dann schlugen sie die Männer vor dem Eingang des Hauses mit Blindheit, klein und groß, so daß sie sich vergebens bemühten, den Eingang zu finden.
12Darauf sagten die Männer zu Lot: »Wen du sonst noch hier hast – einen Schwiegersohn sowie deine Söhne und Töchter und wer dir sonst noch in der Stadt angehört –, die laß aus diesem Orte weggehen;
13denn wir wollen diesen Ort zerstören, weil schlimme Klagen über ihn vor dem HERRN laut geworden sind; daher hat der HERR uns gesandt, die Stadt zu zerstören.«
14Da ging Lot aus dem Hause hinaus und sagte zu seinen Schwiegersöhnen, die seine Töchter geheiratet hatten: »Macht euch auf und verlaßt diesen Ort! Denn der HERR will die Stadt zerstören.« Aber er kam seinen Schwiegersöhnen vor wie einer, der Scherz (mit ihnen) trieb.
15Als dann die Morgenröte aufstieg, drängten die Engel Lot zur Eile mit den Worten: »Auf! Nimm deine Frau und deine beiden Töchter, die hier bei dir anwesend sind, damit du nicht auch wegen der Sündhaftigkeit der Stadt ums Leben kommst.«
16Als er aber immer noch zögerte, faßten die Männer ihn und seine Frau und seine beiden Töchter bei der Hand, weil der HERR ihn verschonen wollte; sie führten ihn hinaus und ließen ihn erst draußen vor der Stadt wieder los.
17Als sie nun mit ihnen draußen im Freien waren, sagte der eine: »Rette dich: es gilt dein Leben! Sieh dich nicht um und bleibe nirgends in der Jordan-Ebene stehen! Rette dich in das Gebirge, damit du nicht auch ums Leben kommst!«
18Da antwortete ihnen Lot: »Ach nein, mein Herr!
19Bedenke doch: dein Knecht hat (nun einmal) Gnade in deinen Augen gefunden, und du hast mir die große Barmherzigkeit erwiesen, mich am Leben zu erhalten; aber ich vermag mich nicht in das Gebirge zu retten: das Verderben würde mich ereilen, so daß ich sterben müßte!
20Siehe, dort ist eine Ortschaft in der Nähe, so daß ich dahin fliehen könnte, und sie ist ja ganz klein: dorthin möchte ich mich retten; sie ist ja doch ganz klein; dann könnte ich am Leben bleiben!«
21Da antwortete er ihm: »Nun gut, ich will dir auch in diesem Stück zu Willen sein, indem ich den Ort, von dem du sprichst, nicht mit zerstöre.
22Flüchte dich eilends dorthin! denn ich kann nichts tun, bis du dorthin gekommen bist.« Daher hat der Ort den Namen Zoar erhalten.
23Als dann die Sonne über der Erde aufgegangen und Lot in Zoar angekommen war,
24ließ der HERR Schwefel und Feuer vom Himmel herab auf Sodom und Gomorrha regnen
25und vernichtete diese Städte und die ganze Jordan-Ebene samt allen Bewohnern der Ortschaften und allem, was auf den Fluren gewachsen war.
26Lots Frau aber hatte sich hinter ihm umgeschaut; da wurde sie zu einer Salzsäule.
27Als Abraham sich nun am folgenden Morgen in der Frühe an den Ort begab, wo er vor dem HERRN gestanden hatte,
28und nach Sodom und Gomorrha hinabschaute und die ganze Fläche der Jordan-Ebene überblickte, da sah er, wie der Rauch vom Lande aufstieg gleich dem Rauch von einem Schmelzofen.
29Gott aber hatte, als er die Städte in der Jordan-Ebene zerstörte, an Abraham gedacht und Lot mitten aus der Zerstörung hinausgeführt, als er die Städte zerstörte, in denen Lot gewohnt hatte.
30Lot aber zog aus Zoar weiter aufwärts und nahm seinen Wohnsitz zusammen mit seinen beiden Töchtern im Gebirge, denn er fürchtete sich, in Zoar zu bleiben; er ließ sich vielmehr mit seinen beiden Töchtern in einer Höhle nieder.
31Da sagte die ältere zu der jüngeren: »Unser Vater ist alt, und kein Mann ist sonst im Lande, der Umgang mit uns haben könnte, wie es in aller Welt Brauch ist.
32Komm, wir wollen unserm Vater Wein zu trinken geben und uns zu ihm legen, damit wir von unserm Vater Nachkommenschaft ins Leben rufen.«
33So gaben sie denn ihrem Vater an jenem Abend Wein zu trinken, und die ältere ging dann hinein und legte sich zu ihrem Vater; er aber merkte nichts davon, weder wie sie sich hinlegte, noch als sie aufstand.
34Am andern Morgen sagte dann die ältere zu der jüngeren: »Siehst du, ich habe in der vorigen Nacht bei meinem Vater gelegen. Wir wollen ihm nun auch heute abend Wein zu trinken geben; dann gehst du hinein und legst dich zu ihm, damit wir von unserm Vater Nachkommenschaft ins Leben rufen.«
35So gaben sie denn ihrem Vater auch an diesem Abend Wein zu trinken, und die jüngere stand auf und legte sich zu ihm; er aber merkte nichts davon, weder als sie sich hinlegte, noch als sie aufstand.
36So wurden denn die beiden Töchter Lots von ihrem Vater schwanger.
37Und die ältere gebar einen Sohn und nannte ihn »Moab«; der ist der Stammvater der heutigen Moabiter.
38Die jüngere gebar auch einen Sohn und gab ihm den Namen »Ben-Ammi«; der ist der Stammvater der heutigen Ammoniter.

1LLEGARON, pues, los dos ángeles á Sodoma á la caída de la tarde: y Lot estaba sentado á la puerta de Sodoma. Y viéndolos Lot, levantóse á recibirlos, é inclinóse hacia el suelo;
2Y dijo: Ahora, pues, mis señores, os ruego que vengáis á casa de vuestro siervo y os hospedéis, y lavaréis vuestros pies: y por la mañana os levantaréis, y seguiréis vuestro camino. Y ellos respondieron: No, que en la plaza nos quedaremos esta noche.
3Mas él porfió con ellos mucho, y se vinieron con él, y entraron en su casa; é hízoles banquete, y coció panes sin levadura, y comieron.
4Y antes que se acostasen, cercaron la casa los hombres de la ciudad, los varones de Sodoma, todo el pueblo junto, desde el más joven hasta el más viejo;
5Y llamaron á Lot, y le dijeron: ¿Dónde están los varones que vinieron á ti esta noche? sácanoslos, para que los conozcamos.
6Entonces Lot salió á ellos á la puerta, y cerró las puertas tras sí,
7Y dijo: Os ruego, hermanos míos, que no hagáis tal maldad.
8He aquí ahora yo tengo dos hijas que no han conocido varón; os las sacaré afuera, y haced de ellas como bien os pareciere: solamente á estos varones no hagáis nada, pues que vinieron á la sombra de mi tejado.
9Y ellos respondieron: Quita allá: y añadieron: Vino éste aquí para habitar como un extraño, ¿y habrá de erigirse en juez? Ahora te haremos más mal que á ellos. Y hacían gran violencia al varón, á Lot, y se acercaron para romper las puertas.
10Entonces los varones alargaron la mano, y metieron á Lot en casa con ellos, y cerraron las puertas.
11Y á los hombres que estaban á la puerta de la casa desde el menor hasta el mayor, hirieron con ceguera; mas ellos se fatigaban por hallar la puerta.
12Y dijeron los varones á Lot: ¿Tienes aquí alguno más? Yernos, y tus hijos y tus hijas, y todo lo que tienes en la ciudad, sácalo de este lugar:
13Porque vamos á destruir este lugar, por cuanto el clamor de ellos ha subido de punto delante de Jehová; por tanto Jehová nos ha enviado para destruirlo.
14Entonces salió Lot, y habló á sus yernos, los que habían de tomar sus hijas, y les dijo: Levantaos, salid de este lugar; porque Jehová va á destruir esta ciudad. Mas pareció á sus yernos como que se burlaba.
15Y al rayar el alba, los ángeles daban prisa á Lot, diciendo: Levántate, toma tu mujer, y tus dos hijas que se hallan aquí, porque no perezcas en el castigo de la ciudad.
16Y deteniéndose él, los varones asieron de su mano, y de la mano de su mujer, y de las manos de sus dos hijas, según la misericordia de Jehová para con él; y le sacaron, y le pusieron fuera de la ciudad.
17Y fué que cuando los hubo sacado fuera, dijo: Escapa por tu vida; no mires tras ti, ni pares en toda esta llanura; escapa al monte, no sea que perezcas.
18Y Lot les dijo: No, yo os ruego, señores míos;
19He aquí ahora ha hallado tu siervo gracia en tus ojos, y has engrandecido tu misericordia que has hecho conmigo dándome la vida; mas yo no podré escapar al monte, no sea caso que me alcance el mal, y muera.
20He aquí ahora esta ciudad está cerca para huir allá, la cual es pequeña; escaparé ahora allá, (¿no es ella pequeña?) y vivirá mi alma.
21Y le respondió: He aquí he recibido también tu súplica sobre esto, y no destruiré la ciudad de que has hablado.
22Date priesa, escápate allá; porque nada podré hacer hasta que allí hayas llegado. Por esto fué llamado el nombre de la ciudad, Zoar.
23El sol salía sobre la tierra, cuando Lot llegó á Zoar.
24Entonces llovió Jehová sobre Sodoma y sobre Gomorra azufre y fuego de parte de Jehová desde los cielos;
25Y destruyó las ciudades, y toda aquella llanura, con todos los moradores de aquellas ciudades, y el fruto de la tierra.
26Entonces la mujer de Lot miró atrás, á espaldas de él, y se volvió estatua de sal.
27Y subió Abraham por la mañana al lugar donde había estado delante de Jehová:
28Y miró hacia Sodoma y Gomorra, y hacia toda la tierra de aquella llanura miró; y he aquí que el humo subía de la tierra como el humo de un horno.
29Así fué que, cuando destruyó Dios las ciudades de la llanura, acordóse Dios de Abraham, y envió fuera á Lot de en medio de la destrucción, al asolar las ciudades donde Lot estaba.
30Empero Lot subió de Zoar, y asentó en el monte, y sus dos hijas con él; porque tuvo miedo de quedar en Zoar, y se alojó en una cueva él y sus dos hijas.
31Entonces la mayor dijo á la menor: Nuestro padre es viejo, y no queda varón en la tierra que entre á nosotras conforme á la costumbre de toda la tierra:
32Ven, demos á beber vino á nuestro padre, y durmamos con él, y conservaremos de nuestro padre generación.
33Y dieron á beber vino á su padre aquella noche: y entró la mayor, y durmió con su padre; mas él no sintió cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó.
34El día siguiente dijo la mayor á la menor: He aquí yo dormí la noche pasada con mi padre; démosle á beber vino también esta noche, y entra y duerme con él, para que conservemos de nuestro padre generación.
35Y dieron á beber vino á su padre también aquella noche: y levantóse la menor, y durmió con él; pero no echó de ver cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó.
36Y concibieron las dos hijas de Lot, de su padre.
37Y parió la mayor un hijo, y llamó su nombre Moab, el cual es padre de los Moabitas hasta hoy.
38La menor también parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Ben-ammí, el cual es padre de los Ammonitas hasta hoy.

1And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
14And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
21And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
22Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
24Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
25And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:
28And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

1The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,
2and he said, “See now, my lords, please come into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”
3He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
4But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.
5They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”
6Lot went out to them through the door, and shut the door after himself.
7He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.
8See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”
9They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and came near to break the door.
10But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.
11They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:
13for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown so great before the LORD that the LORD has sent us to destroy it.”
14Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for the LORD will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.
15When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”
16But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, the LORD being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.
17It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”
18Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.
19See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.
20See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”
21He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.
22Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
24Then the LORD rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of the sky.
25He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.
26But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27Abraham went up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.
30Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.

34It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let’s make him drink wine again tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”
35They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.
36Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.
37The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.
38The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
