And so, these things having been transacted, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your protector, and your reward is exceedingly great.”
DESPUÉS de estas cosas fué la palabra de Jehová á Abram en visión, diciendo: No temas, Abram; yo soy tu escudo, y tu galardón sobremanera grande.
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
After these things the LORD’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
And Abram said: “Lord God, what will you give to me? I may go without children. And the son of the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.”
Y respondió Abram: Señor Jehová ¿qué me has de dar, siendo así que ando sin hijo, y el mayordomo de mi casa es ese Damasceno Eliezer?
And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”
And Abram added: “Yet to me you have not given offspring. And behold, my servant born in my house will be my heir.”
Dijo más Abram: Mira que no me has dado prole, y he aquí que es mi heredero uno nacido en mi casa.
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
Abram said, “Behold, you have given no children to me: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir.”
And immediately the word of the Lord came to him, saying: “This one will not be your heir. But he who will come from your loins, the same will you have for your heir.”
Y luego la palabra de Jehová fué á él diciendo: No te heredará éste, sino el que saldrá de tus entrañas será el que te herede.
And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
Behold, the LORD’s word came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir.”
And he brought him outside, and he said to him, “Take in the heavens, and number the stars, if you can.” And he said to him, “So also will your offspring be.”
Y sacóle fuera, y dijo: Mira ahora á los cielos, y cuenta las estrellas, si las puedes contar. Y le dijo: Así será tu simiente.
And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
The LORD brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “So your offspring will be.”
Abram believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.
Y creyó á Jehová, y contóselo por justicia.
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
He believed in the LORD, who credited it to him for righteousness.
And he said to him, “I am the Lord who led you away from Ur of the Chaldeans, so as to give you this land, and so that you would possess it.”
Y díjole: Yo soy Jehová, que te saqué de Ur de los Caldeos, para darte á heredar esta tierra.
And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
He said to Abram, “I am the LORD who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”
But he said, “Lord God, in what way may I be able to know that I will possess it?”
Y él respondió: Señor Jehová, ¿en qué conoceré que la tengo de heredar?
And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
He said, “Lord GOD, how will I know that I will inherit it?”
And the Lord responded by saying: “Take for me a cow of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, also a turtle-dove and a pigeon.”
Y le dijo: Apártame una becerra de tres años, y una cabra de tres años, y un carnero de tres años, una tórtola también, y un palomino.
And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
Taking all these, he divided them through the middle, and placed both parts opposite one another. But the birds he did not divide.
Y tomó él todas estas cosas, y partiólas por la mitad, y puso cada mitad una enfrente de otra; mas no partió las aves.
And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
He brought him all these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn’t divide the birds.
And birds descended upon the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
Y descendían aves sobre los cuerpos muertos, y ojeábalas Abram.
And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.
And when the sun was setting, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and a dread, great and dark, invaded him.
Mas á la caída del sol sobrecogió el sueño á Abram, y he aquí que el pavor de una grande obscuridad cayó sobre él.
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.
And it was said to him: “Know beforehand that your future offspring will be sojourners in a land not their own, and they will subjugate them in servitude and afflict them for four hundred years.
Entonces dijo á Abram: Ten por cierto que tu simiente será peregrina en tierra no suya, y servirá á los de allí, y serán por ellos afligidos cuatrocientos años.
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
He said to Abram, “Know for sure that your offspring will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.
Yet truly, I will judge the nation that they will serve, and after this they will depart with great substance.
Mas también á la gente á quien servirán, juzgaré yo; y después de esto saldrán con grande riqueza.
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth;
But you will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.
Y tú vendrás á tus padres en paz, y serás sepultado en buena vejez.
And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

But in the fourth generation, they will return here. For the iniquities of the Amorites are not yet completed, even to this present time.”
Y en la cuarta generación volverán acá: porque aun no está cumplida la maldad del Amorrheo hasta aquí.

Then, when the sun had set, there came a dark mist, and there appeared a smoking furnace and a lamp of fire passing between those divisions.
Y sucedió que puesto el sol, y ya obscurecido, dejóse ver un horno humeando, y una antorcha de fuego que pasó por entre los animales divididos.
And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

On that day, God formed a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your offspring I will give this land, from the river of Egypt, even to the great river Euphrates:
En aquel día hizo Jehová un pacto con Abram diciendo: A tu simiente daré esta tierra desde el río de Egipto hasta el río grande, el río Eufrates;
In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

the land of the Kenites and the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites

and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, likewise the Rephaim,
