1Und es war der ganzen Erde eine Sprache und diesselben Worte.
2Und es geschah bei ihrem Aufbrechen von Osten her, und sie fanden eine Talebene im Land Schinar, und sie ließen sich dort nieder.
3Und sie sprachen ein Mann zum anderen: „Auf, lasst uns Ziegel ziegeln und zum Brand brennen.“ Und der Ziegel war ihnen als Baustein und das Erdpech war ihnen als Lehm.
4Und sie sprachen: „Auf, wir bauen uns eine Stadt und einen Turm und seine Spitze bis in den Himmel, und lasst uns uns einen Namen machen, damit wir nicht zerstreut werden über die ganze Erde.“
5Und JHWH stieg herab, um die Stadt zu sehen und den Turm, den die Menschensöhne bauten.
6Und JHWH sprach: „Siehe: Ein Volk, und eine Sprache für sie alle. Und dies ist der Anfang ihres Tuns, und jetzt ist für sie nichts mehr unausführbar von dem, was sie sinnen zu tun.
7Auf, lasst uns hinabsteigen und dort ihre Sprache vermengen, damit sie nicht einer die Sprache des anderen hören.“
8Und JHWH zerstreute sie von dort über die ganze Erde, und sie hörten auf, die Stadt zu bauen.
9Darum nannte man ihren Namen Babel, denn dort vermengte JHWH die Sprache der ganzen Erde, und von dort zerstreute JHWH sie über die ganze Erde.
10Dies ist die Geschlechterfolge. Sems. Sem, Sohn von hundert Jahren, zeugte Arpachschad, zwei Jahre nach der Flut.
11Und Sem lebte nach seiner Zeugung des Arpachschad fünfhundert Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter
12Und Arpachschad lebte 35 Jahre und er zeugte den Schelach.
13Und Arpachschad lebte nach seiner Zeugung Schelachs 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
14Und Schelach lebte dreißig Jahre und zeugte den Eber.
15Und Schelach lebte nach seiner Zeugung Ebers 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
16Und Eber lebte 34 Jahre und er zeugte Peleg.

26Und Terrach lebte 70 Jahre und er zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran.
27Und dies ist die Geschlechterfolge Terachs: Terach zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran und Haran zeugte Lot.
28Und Haran starb vor dem Angesichts Terachs, seinem Vaters im Land seiner Geburt in Ur in Chaldäa.
29Und es nahmen Abram und Nahor Frauen zu sich, der Name der Frau Abrams war Sarai und der Name der Frau Nahors war Milka, Tochter des Harans, Vater der Milka und Vater des Jiska.
30Und Sarai war unfruchtbar, ihr war kein Kind.
31Und Terach nahm Abram, seinen Sohn und Lot, den Sohn seines Sohnes Haran, und Sarai, seine Schwiegertochter, die Frau Abrams, seines Sohnes und sie zogen mit ihnen hinaus aus Ur, aus Chaldäa, um in das Land Kanaan zu gehen und sie kamen nach Haran und ließen sich dort nieder.
32Und Terachs Lebenstage waren 205 Jahre und er starb in Haran.

1ERA entonces toda la tierra de una lengua y unas mismas palabras.
2Y aconteció que, como se partieron de oriente, hallaron una vega en la tierra de Shinar, y asentaron allí.
3Y dijeron los unos á los otros: Vaya, hagamos ladrillo y cozámoslo con fuego. Y fuéles el ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y el betún en lugar de mezcla.
4Y dijeron: Vamos, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre, cuya cúspide llegue al cielo; y hagámonos un nombre, por si fuéremos esparcidos sobre la faz de toda la tierra.
5Y descendió Jehová para ver la ciudad y la torre que edificaban los hijos de los hombres.
6Y dijo Jehová: He aquí el pueblo es uno, y todos éstos tienen un lenguaje: y han comenzado á obrar, y nada les retraerá ahora de lo que han pensando hacer.
7Ahora pues, descendamos, y confundamos allí sus lenguas, para que ninguno entienda el habla de su compañero.
8Así los esparció Jehová desde allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad.
9Por esto fué llamado el nombre de ella Babel, porque allí confundió Jehová el lenguaje de toda la tierra, y desde allí los esparció sobre la faz de toda la tierra.
10Estas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem, de edad de cien años, engendró á Arphaxad, dos años después del diluvio.

32Y fueron los días de Thare doscientos y cinco años; y murió Thare en Harán.

1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
11And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

30But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

1The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2As they traveled east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there.
3They said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4They said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.”
5The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
6The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.
7Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
8So the LORD scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.
9Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. From there, the LORD scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.
10This is the history of the generations of Shem: Shem was one hundred years old when he became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood.

28Haran died in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees, while his father Terah was still alive.
29Abram and Nahor married wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, who was also the father of Iscah.
30Sarai was barren. She had no child.
31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and lived there.
32The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran.
