1And all the earth was one lip, and there was one language to all.
2And it came to pass as they moved from the east, they found a plain in the land of Senaar, and they dwelt there.
3And a man said to his neighbour, Come, let us make bricks and bake them with fire. And the brick was to them for stone, and their mortar was bitumen.
4And they said, Come, let us build to ourselves a city and tower, whose top shall be to heaven, and let us make to ourselves a name, before we are scattered abroad upon the face of all the earth.
5And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men built.
6And the Lord said, Behold, there is one race, and one lip of all, and they have begun to do this, and now nothing shall fail from them of all that they may have undertaken to do.
7Come, and having gone down let us there confound their tongue, that they may not understand each the voice of his neighbour.
8And the Lord scattered them thence over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city and the tower.
9On this account its name was called Confusion, because there the Lord confounded the languages of all the earth, and thence the Lord scattered them upon the face of all the earth.
10And these are the generations of Sem: and Sem was a hundred years old when he begot Arphaxad, the second year after the flood.
11And Sem lived, after he had begotten Arphaxad, five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.
12And Arphaxad lived a hundred and thirty-five years, and begot Cainan.
13And Arphaxad lived after he had begotten Cainan, Alex. 480 four hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died. And Cainan lived a hundred and thirty years and begot Sala; and Canaan lived after he had begotten Sala, three hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.
14And Sala lived an hundred and thirty years, and begot Heber.
15And Sala lived after he had begotten Heber, three hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.
16And Heber lived an hundred and thirty-four years, and begot Phaleg.

18And Phaleg lived and hundred and thirty years, and begot Ragau.

21And Raau lived after he had begotten Seruch, two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.
22And Seruch lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot Nachor.
23And Seruch lived after he had begotten Nachor, two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.
24And Nachor lived Alex. 79 years a hundred and seventy-nine years, and begot Tharrha.
25And Nachor lived after he had begotten Tharrha, Alex. 129 an hundred and twenty-five years, and begot sons and daughters, and he died.
26And Tharrha lived seventy years, and begot Abram, and Nachor, and Arrhan.
27And these are the generations of Tharrha. Tharrha begot Abram and Nachor, and Arrhan; and Arrhan begot Lot.
28And Arrhan died in the presence of Tharrha his father, in the land in which he was born, in the country of the Chaldees.
29And Abram and Nachor took to themselves wives, the name of the wife of Abram was Sara, There seems to be no note of the date of Abram’s marriage with Sara and the name of the wife of Nachor, Malcha, daughter of Arrhan, and he was the father of Malcha, the father of Jescha.
30And Sara was barren, and did not bear children.
31And Tharrha took Abram his son, and Lot the son Arrhan, the son of his son, and Sara his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and led them forth out of the land of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Chanaan, and they came as far as Charrhan, and he dwelt there.
32And all the days of Tharrha in the land of Charrhan were two hundred and five years, and Tharrha died in Charrhan.

1ERA entonces toda la tierra de una lengua y unas mismas palabras.
2Y aconteció que, como se partieron de oriente, hallaron una vega en la tierra de Shinar, y asentaron allí.
3Y dijeron los unos á los otros: Vaya, hagamos ladrillo y cozámoslo con fuego. Y fuéles el ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y el betún en lugar de mezcla.
4Y dijeron: Vamos, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre, cuya cúspide llegue al cielo; y hagámonos un nombre, por si fuéremos esparcidos sobre la faz de toda la tierra.
5Y descendió Jehová para ver la ciudad y la torre que edificaban los hijos de los hombres.
6Y dijo Jehová: He aquí el pueblo es uno, y todos éstos tienen un lenguaje: y han comenzado á obrar, y nada les retraerá ahora de lo que han pensando hacer.
7Ahora pues, descendamos, y confundamos allí sus lenguas, para que ninguno entienda el habla de su compañero.
8Así los esparció Jehová desde allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad.
9Por esto fué llamado el nombre de ella Babel, porque allí confundió Jehová el lenguaje de toda la tierra, y desde allí los esparció sobre la faz de toda la tierra.
10Estas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem, de edad de cien años, engendró á Arphaxad, dos años después del diluvio.
11Y vivió Sem, después que engendró á Arphaxad, quinientos años, y engendró hijos é hijas.
12Y Arphaxad vivió treinta y cinco años, y engendró á Sala.

32Y fueron los días de Thare doscientos y cinco años; y murió Thare en Harán.

1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

28And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

1The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2As they traveled east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there.
3They said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4They said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.”
5The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
6The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.
7Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
8So the LORD scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.

29Abram and Nahor married wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, who was also the father of Iscah.
30Sarai was barren. She had no child.
31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and lived there.
32The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran.
