Terminate queste cose, vennero a trovarmi i principi, e dissero: Il popolo d'Israele, i sacerdoti, e i Leviti non sono più segregati dai popoli di questi paesi, e dalle abbominazioni di costoro, viene a dire, de' Chananei, degli Hethei, de' Pherezei, delli Jebusei, e Ammoniti, e Moabiti, ed Egiziani, e Amorrhei.
Y ACABADAS estas cosas, los príncipes se llegaron á mí, diciendo: El pueblo de Israel, y los sacerdotes y Levitas, no se han apartado de los pueblos de las tierras, de los Cananeos, Hetheos, Pherezeos, Jebuseos, Ammonitas, y Moabitas, Egipcios, y Amorrheos, haciendo conforme á sus abominaciones.
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
Now when these things were done, the princes came near to me, saying, “The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, following their abominations, even those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
Perocché hanno preso delle loro figliuole per se, e pei proprj figliuoli, e hanno confusa la stirpe santa colle nazioni del paese: e i principi e i magistrati hanno i primi avuto parte a questa prevaricazione.
Porque han tomado de sus hijas para sí y para sus hijos, y la simiente santa ha sido mezclada con los pueblos de las tierras; y la mano de los príncipes y de los gobernadores ha sido la primera en esta prevaricación.
For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

Udite queste parole, stracciai il mio pallio, e la tonaca, e mi strappai i capelli della testa, e della barba, e mi posi a sedere pieno di tristezza.

E si radunarono presso di me tutti quelli che temevano la parola del Dio d'Israele per riguardo alla prevaricazione di quelli, che erano tornati dalla schiavitù: e io stava assiso con tristezza sino al sagrifizio della sera.
Y juntáronse á mí todos los temerosos de las palabras del Dios de Israel, á causa de la prevaricación de los de la transmigración; mas yo estuve sentado atónito hasta el sacrificio de la tarde.
Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.

E all'ora del sagrifizio della sera io mi sollevai dalla mia afflizione, e stracciato il pallio, e la tonaca, m'inginocchiai, e alzai le mie mani al Signore Dio mio,

E dissi: Dio mio, io mi vergogno, e non ardisco di alzar a te la mia faccia: perocché le nostre iniquità soverchiano la nostra testa, e i nostri delitti si sono alzati sino al cielo,
Y dije: Dios mío, confuso y avergonzado estoy para levantar, oh Dios mío, mi rostro á ti: porque nuestras iniquidades se han multiplicado sobre nuestra cabeza, y nuestros delitos han crecido hasta el cielo.
And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

Fin dai giorni de' padri nostri: ma oltre a ciò noi medesimi abbiam peccato grandemente, e per le nostre iniquità siamo abbandonati noi, i nostri re, e i nostri sacerdoti al potere dei re della terra, alla spada, e alla schiavitù, e alle rapine, e agli obbrobrj, come si vede anche in oggi.

E ora come per poco, e per un momento è stata ammessa la nostra orazione presso al Signore Dio nostro, affinchè fosser lasciati in libertà i nostri avanzi, e ci fosse data fermezza nel suo luogo santo, e illuminasse il nostro Dio gli occhi nostri, e ci desse di respirare alcun poco nella nostra servitù;
Y ahora como por un breve momento fué la misericordia de Jehová nuestro Dios, para hacer que nos quedase un resto libre, y para darnos estaca en el lugar de su santuario, á fin de alumbrar nuestros ojos nuestro Dios, y darnos una poca de vida en nuestra servidumbre.

Perocché noi siamo servi, ma nella nostra servitù non ci ha abbandonati il nostro Dio, che anzi colla sua misericordia ha ammollito il re de' Persiani, affinchè questi ci donasse la vita, e rialzasse la casa del nostro Dio, e ne ristorasse le ruine, e ci desse ricovero in Giuda, e in Gerusalemme.

Intimati da te per mezzo de' profeti tuoi servi, mentre dicevi: La terra, di cui entrerete in possesso, ell'è terra immonda (come sono immondi gli altri popoli, e le altre terre) per le abbominazioni, e le immondezze, onde costoro l'hanno inondata da un'estremità sino all'altra.
Los cuales prescribiste por mano de tus siervos los profetas, diciendo: La tierra á la cual entráis para poseerla, tierra inmunda es á causa de la inmundicia de los pueblos de aquellas regiones, por las abominaciones de que la han henchido de uno á otro extremo con su inmundicia.

Ahora pues, no daréis vuestras hijas á los hijos de ellos, ni sus hijas tomaréis para vuestros hijos, ni procuraréis su paz ni su bien para siempre; para que seáis corroborados, y comáis el bien de la tierra, y la dejéis por heredad á vuestros hijos para siempre.

E dopo tutte le sciagure cadute sopra di noi per le opere nostre malvage, e pel nostro peccato grande, tu, Dio nostro, ci hai liberati dalla nostra iniquità, e ci hai data salute, come oggi l'abbiamo:
Mas después de todo lo que nos ha sobrevenido á causa de nuestras malas obras, y á causa de nuestro grande delito; ya que tú, Dios nuestro, estorbaste que fuésemos oprimidos bajo de nuestras iniquidades, y nos diste este tal efugio;
And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
“After all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant,
A condizione però, che noi non torniamo indietro, e non conculchiamo i tuoi precetti, e non facciamo matrimonj con que' popoli rei di tali abbominazioni. Se' tu forse irato con noi fino all'esterminio, onde non sia salute per gli avanzi, che a noi tu lasciasti?
¿Hemos de volver á infringir tus mandamientos, y á emparentar con los pueblos de estas abominaciones? ¿No te ensañarías contra nosotros hasta consumirnos, sin que quedara resto ni escapatoria?
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
shall we again break your commandments, and join ourselves with the peoples that do these abominations? Wouldn’t you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant, nor any to escape?
Signore Dio d'Israele, giusto se' tu: noi siamo rimasi per esser salvati come oggi si vede. Eccoci dinanzi a te col nostro peccato: perocché non può cosa tale sostenersi nel tuo cospetto. Esdra, adunati tutti i figliuoli della trasmigrazione, ordina, che siano ripudiate le donne straniere, e avendo quelli promesso di farlo, si annoverano quelli, che soprintendono a questo affare, e quelli, che tutti matrimonj aveano contratti.
Jehová, Dios de Israel, tú eres justo: pues que hemos quedado algunos salvos, como este día, henos aquí delante de ti en nuestros delitos; porque no es posible subsistir en tu presencia á causa de esto.
O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
LORD, the God of Israel, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our guiltiness; for no one can stand before you because of this.”
