Ora adunque, se così pare al Re, faccia cercare negli archivj reali, che sono a Babilonia, se sia vero, che Ciro re comandò, che si riedificasse la casa di Dio in Gerusalemme, e ci faccia sapere riguardo a questo la intenzioni reali. Dario, essendosi ritrovato ne' suoi archivj il decreto riguardante la fabbrica del tempio, ordina, che si metta in esecuzione, e supplisce alle spese: il tempio essendosi terminato l'anno sesto di Dario, se ne fa la dedicazione con grande allegrezza, e con grandissimo numero di vittime, e si celebra la Pasqua per sette giorni.
