1II advint, dans la onzième année, le premier jour du troisième mois, que la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2"Fils de l'homme, dis à Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et à sa cohue: A qui es-tu comparable dans ta grandeur?
3Voici, il était sur le Liban un cèdre superbe, aux belles branches, à la frondaison ombreuse, haut de stature; sa cime perçait les nuages.
4Les eaux l'avaient fait croître, la source profonde l'avait développé, en faisant courir ses flots autour de sa plantation et en dirigeant ses canaux vers tous les arbres de la campagne.
5Aussi, sa taille surpassait celle de tous les arbres de la campagne, ses branches s'étaient multipliées et ses rameaux, grâce à l'abondance des eaux, s'étaient allongés, car il les projetait au loin.
6Dans ses branches nichaient tous les oiseaux du ciel, et sous ses rameaux mettaient bas' toutes les bêtes des champs. A son ombre demeuraient toutes les grandes nations.
7Il était beau dans sa grandeur, par la longueur de ses rameaux, car sa racine baignait dans de grandes eaux.
8Les cèdres ne l'avaient pas éclipsé au jardin de Dieu, les cyprès n'étaient pas comparables à ses branches, et les platanes ne rivalisaient pas avec ses rameaux: aucun arbre du jardin de Dieu ne l'égalait en beauté.
9Je l'avais fait beau par la multitude de ses branches, et tous les arbres d'Eden, qui étaient au jardin de Dieu, le jalousaient.
10Donc, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu, puisque tu avais tant monté en hauteur, puisqu'il avait étendu sa cime au milieu des nuages, et que son coeur s'est enorgueilli de sa hauteur,
11j'ai voulu le livrer aux mains d'un puissant parmi les nations, pour qu'il lui infligeât le traitement dû à sa méchanceté: je l'ai répudié.
12Ils l'ont coupé, les étrangers, les plus violents des peuples, ils l'ont jeté là. Sur les montagnes et sur toutes les vallées sont tombées ses branches; ses rameaux se sont brisés dans tous les ravins de la terre. Ils se sont retirés de son ombre, tous les peuples de la terre, et ils l'ont abandonné.
13Sur sa ruine habitent tous les oiseaux du ciel et sur ses rameaux se posent toutes les bêtes des champs,
14pour qu'aucun des arbres plantés près des eaux ne s'enorgueillisse plus de sa haute taille, et qu'ils ne percent plus les nuages de leur cime et qu'ils ne se dressent plus dans leur hauteur, ces géants, tous ces buveurs d'eau, car tous ont été voués à là mort, précipités dans les régions souterraines, au milieu des fils de l'homme, auprès de ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse."
15Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: "Le jour où il est descendu dans le Scheol, j'ai fait mener le deuil; à cause de lui j'ai recouvert la source profonde, j'en ai arrêté les fleuves, et les grandes eaux ont été retenues prisonnières; j'ai enténébré pour lui le Liban, et tous les arbres des champs ont été pris de langueur à cause de lui.
16Au bruit de sa chute, j'ai fait tressaillir les peuples, quand je l'ai fait descendre dans le Scheol avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse, et ils se sont consolés dans les régions souterraines, tous les arbres de l'Eden, les plus beaux, les meilleurs du Liban, tous les buveurs d'eau.
17Eux aussi sont descendus avec lui dans le Scheol auprès des victimes de l'épée; de même ses auxiliaires qui, s'asseyaient à son ombre parmi les nations.
18A qui donc pouvais-tu être comparé en gloire et en grandeur parmi les arbres de l'Eden? Et pourtant, tu seras précipité, avec les arbres de l'Eden, dans les régions souterraines, parmi les incirconcis; tu seras couché avec les victimes de l'épée. Voilà ce qu'est Pharaon avec toute sa cohue, dit le Seigneur Dieu. "

1Y ACONTECIÓ en el año undécimo, en el mes tercero, al primero del mes, que fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
2Hijo del hombre, di á Faraón rey de Egipto, y á su pueblo: ¿A quién te comparaste en tu grandeza?
3He aquí era el Asirio cedro en el Líbano, hermoso en ramas, y umbroso con sus ramos, y de grande altura, y su copa estaba entre densas ramas.
4Las aguas lo hicieron crecer, encumbrólo el abismo: sus ríos iban alrededor de su pie, y á todos los árboles del campo enviaba sus corrientes.
5Por tanto, se encumbró su altura sobre todos los árboles del campo, y multiplicáronse sus ramos, y á causa de las muchas aguas se alargaron sus ramas que había echado.
6En sus ramas hacían nido todas las aves del cielo, y debajo de su ramaje parían todas las bestias del campo, y á su sombra habitaban muchas gentes.
7Hízose, pues, hermoso en su grandeza con la extensión de sus ramas; porque su raíz estaba junto á muchas aguas.
8Los cedros no lo cubrieron en el huerto de Dios: las hayas no fueron semejantes á sus ramas, ni los castaños fueron semejantes á sus ramos: ningún árbol en el huerto de Dios fué semejante á él en su hermosura.
9Hícelo hermoso con la multitud de sus ramas; y todos los árboles de Edén, que estaban en el huerto de Dios, tuvieron de él envidia.
10Por tanto, así dijo el Señor Jehová: Por cuanto te encumbraste en altura, y puso su cumbre entre densas ramas, y su corazón se elevó con su altura,
11Yo lo entregaré en mano del fuerte de las gentes, que de cierto le manejará: por su impiedad lo he arrojado.
12Y le cortarán extraños, los fuertes de las gentes, y lo abandonarán: sus ramas caerán sobre los montes y por todos los valles, y por todas las arroyadas de la tierra serán quebrados sus ramos; é iránse de su sombra todos los pueblos de la tierra, y lo dejarán.
13Sobre su ruina habitarán todas las aves del cielo, y sobre su ramas estarán todas las bestias del campo:
14Para que no se eleven en su altura los árboles todos de las aguas, ni levanten su cumbre entre las espesuras, ni en sus ramas se paren por su altura todos los que beben aguas: porque todos serán entregados á muerte, á la tierra baja, en medio de los hijos de los hombres, con los que descienden á la huesa.
15Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: El día que descendió á la sepultura, hice hacer luto, hice cubrir por él el abismo, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas fueron detenidas: y al Líbano cubrí de tinieblas por él, y todos los árboles del campo se desmayaron.
16Del estruendo de su caída hice temblar las gentes, cuando les hice descender á la fosa con todos los que descienden á la sepultura; y todos los árboles de Edén escogidos, y los mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, tomaron consolación en la tierra baja.
17También ellos descendieron con él á la fosa, con los muertos á cuchillo, los que fueron su brazo, los que estuvieron á su sombra en medio de las gentes.
18¿A quién te has comparado así en gloria y en grandeza entre los árboles de Edén? Pues derribado serás con los árboles de Edén en la tierra baja: entre los incircuncisos yacerás, con los muertos á cuchillo. Este es Faraón y todo su pueblo, dice el Señor Jehová.

1And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.
4The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
5Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
6All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.
7Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.
8The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
9I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.
10Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
15Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
17They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
18To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

1In the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2“Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt and his multitude: ‘Whom are you like in your greatness?
3Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.
4The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. Its rivers ran all around its plantation. It sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
5Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied. Its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it spread them out.
6All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs. Under its branches, all the animals of the field gave birth to their young. All great nations lived under its shadow.
7Thus it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.
8The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it. The cypress trees were not like its branches. The pine trees were not like its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.
9I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.’
10“Therefore thus said the Lord GOD: ‘Because he is exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick branches, and his heart is lifted up in his height,
11I will deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him. I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12Foreigners, the tyrants of the nations, have cut him off and have left him. His branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow and have left him.
13All the birds of the sky will dwell on his ruin, and all the animals of the field will be on his branches,
14to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, and don’t set their top among the thick boughs. Their mighty ones don’t stand up on their height, even all who drink water; for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, among the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.’
15“The Lord GOD says: ‘In the day when he went down to Sheol, I caused a mourning. I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers. The great waters were stopped. I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. All the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.
17They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, who lived under his shadow in the middle of the nations.
18“‘To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth. You will lie in the middle of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. “‘This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord GOD.”
