1UND es erging an mich das Wort des Herrn:
2Was soll es, dass ihr im Lande Israels diesen Spruch im Munde führt: "Die Väter haben saure Trauben gegessen, und den Kindern werden davon die Zähne stumpf"? (a) Jer 31:29
3So wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott der Herr, ihr sollt fortan diesen Spruch in Israel nicht mehr im Munde führen.
4Wahrlich, alle Seelen sind mein! Die Seele des Vaters wie die Seele des Sohnes - mein sind sie! Die Seele, die sündigt, die muss sterben.
5Wenn aber einer gerecht ist und Recht und Gerechtigkeit übt,
6nicht auf den Bergen (Opferfleisch) isst und nicht seine Augen erhebt zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel, nicht das Weib seines Nächsten schändet und nicht einem Weibe sich naht, wenn es unrein ist, (a) Hes 22:9; 3Mo 18:19 20; 20:18; Jes 57:7
7wenn einer niemanden bedrückt und, was er gepfändet, dem Schuldner zurückgibt, nichts mit Gewalt an sich reisst, sein Brot dem Hungrigen gibt und den Nackten bekleidet, (a) 2Mo 22:26; 3Mo 19:13; 5Mo 15:7; Jes 58:7
8nicht auf Zins leiht und keinen Zuschlag nimmt, seine Hand von Unrecht fernhält und redlichen Spruch fällt zwischen Mann und Mann, (1) vgl. 3Mo 25:36 37. (a) 2Mo 22:25
9wenn einer in meinen Satzungen wandelt und meine Gesetze hält, indem er treulich darnach tut - der ist gerecht, der soll am Leben bleiben, spricht Gott der Herr.
10Wenn er nun aber einen gewalttätigen Sohn erzeugt, der Blut vergiesst und Frevel verübt
11und nicht auf dem Wege seines gerechten Vaters wandelt, sondern auf den Bergen (Opferfleisch) isst und das Weib seines Nächsten schändet,
12der den Elenden und Armen bedrückt, Raub an sich reisst und, was er gepfändet, nicht zurückgibt, der seine Augen zu den Götzen erhebt und Greuel verübt,
13der auf Zins leiht und Zuschlag nimmt, sollte der am Leben bleiben? - Er wird nicht am Leben bleiben! Er hat all diese Greuel verübt, er muss sterben! Sein Blut komme über ihn! (1) vgl. 3Mo 25:36 37.
14Und siehe, wenn auch er einen Sohn erzeugt, und der sieht all die Sünden, die sein Vater begangen hat, und er fürchtet sich und tut nicht desgleichen:
15er isst nicht (Opferfleisch) auf den Bergen und erhebt seine Augen nicht zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel, er schändet nicht das Weib seines Nächsten,
16er bedrückt niemanden, er nimmt kein Pfand und raubt nicht, er gibt dem Hungrigen sein Brot und bekleidet den Nackten,
17er hält seine Hand von Unrecht fern, er nimmt weder Zins noch Zuschlag, er hält meine Gesetze und wandelt in meinen Satzungen - der wird nicht sterben um der Schuld seines Vaters willen, er wird am Leben bleiben! (a) 3Mo 25:37
18Sein Vater aber, der Erpressung verübt, Raub an sich gerissen und unter seinen Volksgenossen getan hat, was nicht gut ist, fürwahr, der muss um seiner Schuld willen sterben.
19Und nun sagt ihr: "Warum trägt nicht der Sohn die Schuld des Vaters mit?" - wo doch der Sohn Recht und Gerechtigkeit geübt und alle meine Satzungen gehalten und darnach getan hat! Er soll am Leben bleiben!
20Die Seele, die sündigt, die soll sterben! Ein Sohn soll nicht die Schuld des Vaters, noch ein Vater die Schuld des Sohnes mittragen. Nur dem Gerechten kommt seine Gerechtigkeit zugute, und nur über den Gottlosen kommt seine Gottlosigkeit. (a) 5Mo 24:16
21Wenn sich aber der Gottlose bekehrt von all den Sünden, die er begangen hat, und alle meine Satzungen hält und Recht und Gerechtigkeit übt, so soll er am Leben bleiben, er soll nicht sterben.
22Aller der Missetaten, die er begangen hat, wird ihm nicht mehr gedacht; um der Gerechtigkeit willen, die er geübt hat, soll er am Leben bleiben.
23Habe ich etwa Wohlgefallen am Tode des Gottlosen, spricht Gott der Herr, und nicht vielmehr daran, dass er sich von seinem Wandel bekehre und am Leben bleibe? (a) Hes 33:11; 2Pe 3:9
24Und wenn sich der Gerechte von seiner Gerechtigkeit abwendet und Unrecht tut, Greuel aller Art, wie sie der Gottlose verübt, so wird all der gerechten Taten, die er getan hat, nicht mehr gedacht; um der Treulosigkeit willen, die er verübt, und um der Sünde willen, die er begangen hat, um ihretwillen muss er sterben. (a) Hes 3:20
25Und da sagt ihr: "Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig!" So höret doch, ihr vom Haus Israel: mein Weg sollte nicht richtig sein? sind nicht vielmehr eure Wege nicht richtig? (a) Hes 33:17
26Wenn der Gerechte sich von seiner Gerechtigkeit abwendet und Unrecht tut, so muss er sterben; wegen des Unrechts, das er getan hat, deswegen muss er sterben.
27Und wenn der Gottlose sich bekehrt von der Gottlosigkeit, die er getan hat, und Recht und Gerechtigkeit übt, so wird er seine Seele am Leben erhalten. (a) Hes 33:19
28Er hat sich bekehrt von all den Missetaten, die er begangen hat; so soll er am Leben bleiben, er soll nicht sterben.
29Aber das Haus Israel sagt: "Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig!" - Mein Weg sollte nicht richtig sein, Haus Israel? sind nicht vielmehr eure Wege nicht richtig?
30Darum will ich einen jeden von euch nach seinem Wandel richten, Haus Israel! spricht Gott der Herr. Kehret um und wendet euch ab von all euren Missetaten, damit sie euch nicht ein Anlass zur Bestrafung werden!
31Werfet von euch all die Missetaten, die ihr gegen mich begangen habt, und schaffet euch ein neues Herz und einen neuen Geist! Warum wollt ihr denn sterben, Haus Israel? (a) Hes 11:19; 33:11; 36:26
32Habe ich doch kein Wohlgefallen am Tode dessen, der sterben muss, spricht Gott der Herr. So bekehret euch denn, auf dass ihr lebet!

1Y FUÉ á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
2¿Qué pensáis vosotros, vosotros que usáis este refrán sobre la tierra de Israel, diciendo: Los padres comieron el agraz, y los dientes de los hijos tienen la dentera?
3Vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, que nunca más tendréis por qué usar este refrán en Israel.
4He aquí que todas las almas son mías; como el alma del padre, así el alma del hijo es mía; el alma que pecare, esa morirá.
5Y el hombre que fuere justo, é hiciere juicio y justicia;
6Que no comiere sobre los montes, ni alzare sus ojos á los ídolos de la casa de Israel, ni violare la mujer de su prójimo, ni llegare á la mujer menstruosa,
7Ni oprimiere á ninguno; al deudor tornare su prenda, no cometiere robo, diere de su pan al hambriento, y cubriere al desnudo con vestido,
8No diere á logro, ni recibiere aumento; de la maldad retrajere su mano, é hiciere juicio de verdad entre hombre y hombre,
9En mis ordenanzas caminare, y guardare mis derechos para hacer verdad, éste es justo: éste vivirá, dice el Señor Jehová.
10Mas si engendrare hijo ladrón, derramador de sangre, ó que haga alguna cosa de éstas,
11Y que no haga las otras; antes comiere sobre los montes, ó violare la mujer de su prójimo,
12Al pobre y menesteroso oprimiere, cometiere robos, no tornare la prenda, ó alzare sus ojos á los ídolos, é hiciere abominación,
13Diere á usura, y recibiere aumento: ¿vivirá éste? No vivirá. Todas estas abominaciones hizo; de cierto morirá; su sangre será sobre él.
14Pero si éste engendrare hijo, el cual viere todos los pecados que su padre hizo, y viéndolos no hiciere según ellos:
15No comiere sobre los montes, ni alzare sus ojos á los ídolos de la casa de Israel; la mujer de su prójimo no violare,
16Ni oprimiere á nadie; la prenda no empeñare, ni cometiere robos; al hambriento diere de su pan, y cubriere de vestido al desnudo;
17Apartare su mano del pobre, usura ni aumento no recibiere; hiciere mis derechos, y anduviere en mis ordenanzas, éste no morirá por la maldad de su padre; de cierto vivirá.
18Su padre, por cuanto hizo agravio, despojó violentamente al hermano, é hizo en medio de su pueblo lo que no es bueno, he aquí que él morirá por su maldad.
19Y si dijereis: ¿Por qué el hijo no llevará por el pecado de su padre? Porque el hijo hizo juicio y justicia, guardó todas mis ordenanzas, y las hizo, de cierto vivirá.
20El alma que pecare, esa morirá: el hijo no llevará por el pecado del padre, ni el padre llevará por el pecado del hijo: la justicia del justo será sobre él, y la impiedad del impío será sobre él.
21Mas el impío, si se apartare de todos sus pecados que hizo, y guardare todas mis ordenanzas, é hiciere juicio y justicia, de cierto vivirá; no morirá.
22Todas sus rebeliones que cometió, no le serán recordadas: en su justicia que hizo vivirá.
23¿Quiero yo la muerte del impío? dice el Señor Jehová. ¿No vivirá, si se apartare de sus caminos?
24Mas si el justo se apartare de su justicia, y cometiere maldad, é hiciere conforme á todas las abominaciones que el impío hizo, ¿vivirá él? Todas las justicias que hizo no vendrán en memoria; por su rebelión con que prevaricó, y por su pecado que cometió, por ello morirá.
25Y si dijereis: No es derecho el camino del Señor: oid ahora, casa de Israel: ¿No es derecho mi camino? ¿no son vuestros caminos torcidos?
26Apartándose el justo de su justicia, y haciendo iniquidad, él morirá por ello: por su iniquidad que hizo, morirá.
27Y apartándose el impío de su impiedad que hizo, y haciendo juicio y justicia, hará vivir su alma.
28Porque miró, y apartóse de todas sus prevaricaciones que hizo, de cierto vivirá, no morirá.
29Si aun dijere la casa de Israel: No es derecho el camino del Señor: ¿No son derechos mis caminos, casa de Israel? Cierto, vuestros caminos no son derechos.
30Por tanto, yo os juzgaré á cada uno según sus caminos, oh casa de Israel, dice el Señor Jehová. Convertíos, y volveos de todas vuestras iniquidades; y no os será la iniquidad causa de ruina.
31Echad de vosotros todas vuestras iniquidades con que habéis prevaricado, y haceos corazón nuevo y espíritu nuevo. ¿Y por qué moriréis, casa de Israel?
32Que no quiero la muerte del que muere, dice el Señor Jehová; convertíos pues, y viviréis.

1The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
2What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
3As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
5But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
6And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
7And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
8He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
9Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
10If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
11And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour’s wife,
12Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
13Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
14Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father’s sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
15That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour’s wife,
16Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
17That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
19Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
25Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
26When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
28Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
29Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
30Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
32For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

18As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.
19“Yet you say, ‘Why doesn’t the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.
20The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.

22None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him. In his righteousness that he has done, he shall live.

None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

26When the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, then he dies in his iniquity that he has done.
27Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive.
28Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
29Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ House of Israel, aren’t my ways fair? Aren’t your ways unfair?
30“Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.
31Cast away from you all your transgressions in which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, house of Israel?
32For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn yourselves, and live!
