1Und das Wort des HERRN erging an mich also:
2Menschensohn, gib dem Hause Israel ein Rätsel auf und lege ihm ein Gleichnis vor und sage:
3So spricht Gott, der HERR: Ein großer Adler mit großen Flügeln und langen Fittichen voll buntfarbiger Federn kam auf den Libanon und nahm den Wipfel der Zeder hinweg
4und brach den obersten ihrer Zweige ab und brachte ihn in das Krämerland und setzte ihn in eine Handelsstadt.
5Er nahm auch von dem Samen des Landes und tat ihn auf ein Saatfeld; er brachte ihn zu reichlichen Wassern und setzte ihn wie einen Weidenbaum.
6Da wuchs er und ward ein wuchernder Weinstock, niedrigen Wuchses; seine Ranken bogen sich gegen ihn, und seine Wurzeln waren unter ihm. Also ward ein Weinstock daraus, und er trieb Schosse und streckte Ranken aus.
7Es war aber ein anderer großer Adler, der hatte große Flügel und viele Federn. Und siehe, dieser Weinstock bog seine Wurzeln zu ihm hin und streckte seine Schosse gegen ihn aus, damit er ihn tränke und nicht die Beete, worin er gepflanzt war.
8Und er war doch auf einem guten Boden bei vielen Wassern gepflanzt und konnte Schosse treiben und Frucht tragen und ein prächtiger Weinstock werden!
9Sage: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Wird er geraten? Wird jener nicht seine Wurzeln ausreißen, daß seine Frucht verfault und verdorrt? Alle seine grünen Schosse werden verdorren! Und es braucht dazu keinen großen Arm und nicht viel Volk, um ihn aus seinen Wurzeln herauszuheben.
10Und siehe, er ist zwar gepflanzt, sollte er aber geraten? Wird er nicht, sobald der Ostwind ihn berührt, gänzlich verdorren? Auf den Beeten, wo er ins Sprossen kam, wird er verdorren.
11Und das Wort des HERRN erging also an mich:
12Sage doch dem widerspenstigen Hause: Wisset ihr nicht, was das bedeutet? Sage: Seht, der König von Babel ist nach Jerusalem gekommen und hat ihren König und ihre Fürsten genommen und sie zu sich nach Babel gebracht.
13Er nahm auch von dem königlichen Samen und schloß einen Vertrag mit ihm und ließ ihn einen Eid schwören; und er nahm die Gewaltigen des Landes mit sich,
14damit das Königtum gering bliebe und sich nicht erhebe, sondern seinen Vertrag hielte, so daß er Bestand habe.
15Er aber fiel von ihm ab und sandte seine Boten nach Ägypten, damit man ihm Rosse und viel Volk zusendete. Wird er Glück haben? Wird er, der solches tat, davonkommen, und sollte der Vertragsbrüchige entrinnen?
16So wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott, der HERR, er wird an dem Ort, da der König wohnt, der ihn zum König gemacht, dessen Eid er aber verachtet und dessen Vertrag er übertreten hat, mitten in Babel bei ihm sterben müssen!
17Auch wird ihm der Pharao nicht mit großem Heer und zahlreichem Volk im Krieg beistehen, wenn man einen Wall aufwirft und Bollwerke baut, um viele Seelen umzubringen.
18Er hat den Eid so gering geschätzt, daß er den Vertrag brach; und siehe, er hat seine Hand gegeben und doch das alles getan, er wird nicht entrinnen.
19Darum spricht Gott, der HERR, also: So wahr ich lebe, ich will meinen Eid, welchen er verachtet, und den vor mir geschlossenen Vertrag, den er gebrochen hat, auf seinen Kopf bringen.
20Ich will mein Netz über ihn ausspannen, und er soll in meinem Garn gefangen werden. Ich will ihn gen Babel führen; daselbst will ich mit ihm ins Gericht gehen wegen des Treubruchs, den er an mir begangen hat.
21Aber alle seine Flüchtlinge unter allen seinen Truppen sollen durchs Schwert fallen, und die Übriggebliebenen sollen nach allen Winden zerstreut werden; so werdet ihr erfahren, daß ich, der HERR, solches geredet habe.
22Also spricht Gott, der HERR: Ich will auch ein Ästlein von dem Wipfel des hohen Zedernbaumes nehmen und will es einsetzen. Von dem obersten seiner Schosse will ich ein zartes Reis abbrechen und will es auf einem hohen und erhabenen Berg pflanzen;
23auf dem hohen Berge Israels will ich es pflanzen, damit es Schosse treibe und Früchte bringe und zu einem prächtigen Zedernbaum werde, daß allerlei Vögel und allerlei Geflügel unter ihm wohnen und unter dem Schatten seiner Äste bleiben können;
24und alle Bäume des Feldes sollen erfahren, daß ich, der HERR, den hohen Baum erniedrigt und den niedrigen Baum erhöht habe; daß ich den grünen Baum dürre und den dürren Baum zum Grünen gebracht habe. Ich, der HERR, habe es gesagt und auch getan.

2Hijo del hombre, propón una figura, y compón una parábola á la casa de Israel.
3Y dirás: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Una grande águila, de grandes alas y de largos miembros, llena de plumas de diversos colores, vino al Líbano, y tomó el cogollo del cedro:
4Arrancó el principal de sus renuevos, y llevólo á la tierra de mercaderes, y púsolo en la ciudad de los negociantes.
5Tomó también de la simiente de la tierra, y púsola en un campo bueno para sembrar, plantóla junto á grandes aguas, púsola como un sauce.
6Y brotó, é hízose una vid de mucha rama, baja de estatura, que sus ramas la miraban, y sus raíces estaban debajo de ella: así que se hizo una vid, y arrojó sarmientos, y echó mugrones.
7Y fué otra grande águila, de grandes alas y de muchas plumas; y he aquí que esta vid juntó cerca de ella sus raíces, y extendió hacia ella sus ramos, para ser regada por ella por los surcos de su plantío.
8En un buen campo, junto á muchas aguas fué plantada, para que hiciese ramos y llevase fruto, y para que fuese vid robusta.
9Di: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: ¿Será prosperada? ¿No arrancará sus raíces, y destruirá su fruto, y secaráse? Todas las hojas de su lozanía secará, y no con gran brazo, ni con mucha gente, arrancándola de sus raíces.
10Y he aquí que plantada está ella, ¿será prosperada? ¿No se secará del todo cuando el viento solano la tocare? En los surcos de su verdor se secará.
11Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
12Di ahora á la casa rebelde: ¿No habéis entendido qué significan estas cosas? Diles: He aquí que el rey de Babilonia vino á Jerusalem, y tomó tu rey y sus príncipes, y llevólos consigo á Babilonia.
13Tomó también de la simiente del reino, é hizo con él alianza, y trájole á juramento; y tomó los fuertes de la tierra,
14Para que el reino fuese abatido y no se levantase, sino que guardase su alianza y estuviese en ella.
15Rebelóse empero contra él enviando sus embajadores á Egipto, para que le diese caballos y mucha gente. ¿Será prosperado, escapará, el que estas cosas hizo? ¿y el que rompió la alianza, podrá huir?
16Vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, que morirá en medio de Babilonia, en el lugar del rey que le hizo reinar, cuyo juramento menospreció, y cuya alianza con él hecha rompió.
17Y no con grande ejército, ni con mucha compañía hará con él Faraón en la batalla, cuando funden baluarte y edifiquen bastiones para cortar muchas vidas.
18Pues menospreció el juramento, para invalidar el concierto cuando he aquí que había dado su mano, é hizo todas estas cosas, no escapará.
19Por tanto, así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Vivo yo, que el juramento mío que menospreció, y mi concierto que ha invalidado, tornaré sobre su cabeza.
20Y extenderé sobre él mi red, y será preso en mi malla; y hacerlo he venir á Babilonia, y allí estaré á juicio con él, por su prevaricación con que contra mí se ha rebelado.
21Y todos sus fugitivos con todos sus escuadrones caerán á cuchillo, y los que quedaren serán esparcidos á todo viento; y sabréis que yo Jehová he hablado.
22Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Y tomaré yo del cogollo de aquel alto cedro, y pondrélo; del principal de sus renuevos cortaré un tallo, y plantarlo he yo sobre el monte alto y sublime;
23En el monte alto de Israel lo plantaré, y alzará ramos, y llevará fruto, y haráse magnífico cedro; y habitarán debajo de él todas las aves, toda cosa que vuela habitará á la sombra de sus ramos.
24Y sabrán todos los árboles del campo que yo Jehová abatí el árbol sublime, levanté el árbol bajo, hice secar el árbol verde, é hice reverdecer el árbol seco. Yo Jehová hablé é hice.

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
3And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.
6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.
8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
9Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
10Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
13And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

1The LORD’s word came to me, saying,

3and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.
4He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, and carried it to a land of traffic. He planted it in a city of merchants.
5“‘“He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fruitful soil. He placed it beside many waters. He set it as a willow tree.
6It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.
7“‘“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot out its branches toward him, from the ground where it was planted, that he might water it.
8It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might produce branches and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a good vine.”’
9“Say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.
10Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”
11Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
12“Say now to the rebellious house, ‘Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.
13He took one of the royal offspring, and made a covenant with him. He also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land,
14that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?
16“‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.
17Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.
18For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.
19“Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.
20I will spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
21All his fugitives in all his bands will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered toward every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken it.’
22“The Lord GOD says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
23I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.
24All the trees of the field will know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish. “‘I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.’”
