1Weiter erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
2»Menschensohn, gib dem Hause Israel ein Rätsel auf und trage ihm ein Gleichnis vor!
3Sage zu ihnen: ›So hat Gott der HERR gesprochen: Der große Adler mit großen Flügeln, mit langen Schwungfedern und voll schillernden Gefieders kam zum Libanon und nahm dort den Wipfel der Zeder weg:
4den obersten ihrer Schosse riß er ab und brachte ihn ins Krämerland, versetzte ihn in eine Handelsstadt.
5Dann nahm er einen von den Schößlingen des Landes, pflanzte ihn in ein Saatfeld, wo reichlich Wasser war, behandelte ihn wie ein Weidengewächs,
6damit er dort wüchse und sich zu einem üppigen Weinstock von niedrigem Wuchs entwickelte; seine Ranken sollten sich zu ihm (dem Adler) hinkehren und seine Wurzeln ihm untertan sein. Und es wurde wirklich ein Weinstock daraus, der Ranken ansetzte und Zweige trieb.
7Nun war da aber auch noch ein anderer großer Adler mit großen Flügeln und starkem Gefieder; und siehe da: jener Weinstock bog seine Wurzeln zu diesem hin und streckte seine Ranken zu ihm aus, damit er ihn noch besser tränken möchte, als das Beet es tat, auf das er gepflanzt war;
8und er war doch auf guten Boden, an reichliches Wasser gepflanzt, um Ranken zu treiben und Früchte zu tragen und sich zu einem herrlichen Weinstock zu entwickeln.‹
9Sage nun zu ihnen: ›So hat Gott der HERR gesprochen: Wird das gut ablaufen? Wird jener (Adler) ihm nicht die Wurzeln ausreißen und seine Trauben abschneiden, so daß er verdorrt? Ja, alle seine frischsprossenden Triebe werden verdorren, und zwar wird kein gewaltiger Arm und keine große Anzahl von Leuten dazu erforderlich sein, um ihn aus seinem Wurzelboden herauszuheben.
10Allerdings gepflanzt ist er: aber – wird es gut ablaufen? Wird er nicht, sobald der Ostwind ihn trifft, gänzlich verdorren? Ja, auf dem Beet, auf dem er herangewachsen ist, wird er verdorren.‹«
11Alsdann erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
12»Sage doch dem widerspenstigen Geschlecht: ›Versteht ihr denn nicht, was dies bedeutet?‹ Sage ihnen: ›Seht, der König von Babylon ist nach Jerusalem gekommen, hat den dortigen König und die dortigen Oberen mitgenommen und sie zu sich nach Babylon gebracht.
13Dann hat er einen Sprößling des Königshauses genommen und einen Vertrag mit ihm geschlossen und ihn durch einen Eid verpflichtet; die Vornehmsten des Landes aber hat er mit sich genommen,
14damit die Königsmacht bescheiden bliebe und sich nicht wieder erhöbe und damit jener den geschlossenen Vertrag hielte, damit er Bestand habe.
15Der aber fiel von ihm ab, indem er seine Gesandten nach Ägypten schickte, damit man ihm Rosse und viel Kriegsvolk gäbe. Wird er wohl Glück haben? Wird er, der so gehandelt hat, ungestraft davonkommen? Er hat den Vertrag gebrochen: sollte er der Strafe entgehen?
16So wahr ich lebe!‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes des HERRN –, ›an dem Wohnsitz des Königs, der ihn zum Herrscher gemacht, dem er den Eid nicht gehalten hat und gegen den er vertragsbrüchig geworden ist, bei diesem soll er sterben mitten in Babylon!
17Der Pharao aber wird ihm nicht mit großer Heeresmacht und zahlreichem Aufgebot im Kriege Beistand leisten, wenn man einen Wall aufführt und Belagerungstürme baut, um viele Menschen ums Leben zu bringen.
18Denn weil er meineidig durch Vertragsbruch geworden ist und trotz des Handschlags, den er gegeben, alles dies getan hat, wird er nicht ungestraft davonkommen!‹«
19Darum hat Gott der HERR so gesprochen: »So wahr ich lebe! Für den Eid, den er bei mir geschworen und mißachtet hat, und für den Vertrag, den er vor mir geschlossen und gebrochen hat, will ich ihn die Strafe büßen lassen
20und mein Fangnetz über ihn ausbreiten, so daß er in meinem Garn gefangen wird! Dann will ich ihn nach Babylon bringen und dort Abrechnung mit ihm halten wegen des Treubruchs, dessen er sich gegen mich schuldig gemacht hat.
21Alle seine auserlesenen Krieger aber in allen seinen Heerscharen sollen durchs Schwert fallen und die Übriggebliebenen in alle Winde zerstreut werden, damit ihr erkennt, daß ich, der HERR, es angesagt habe.«
22So hat Gott der HERR gesprochen: »Ich selbst aber werde einen Zweig vom Wipfel der hohen Zeder nehmen und ihn einsetzen; von dem obersten ihrer Sprossen werde ich ein zartes Reis abbrechen, und ich selbst werde es auf einem hohen und ragenden Berge einpflanzen:
23auf der Bergeshöhe Israels will ich es einpflanzen, damit es dort Zweige treibt und Früchte trägt und sich zu einer herrlichen Zeder entwickelt, unter welcher allerlei Wild lagert, allerlei Vögel jeglichen Gefieders wohnen und im Schatten ihrer Zweige nisten.
24Dann werden alle Bäume des Feldes erkennen, daß ich, der HERR, den hohen Baum erniedrigt und den niedrigen Baum erhöht habe, daß ich den saftreichen Baum habe verdorren lassen und den dürren Baum zur Blüte gebracht habe. Ich, der HERR, habe es angesagt und es auch vollführt.«

2Hijo del hombre, propón una figura, y compón una parábola á la casa de Israel.
3Y dirás: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Una grande águila, de grandes alas y de largos miembros, llena de plumas de diversos colores, vino al Líbano, y tomó el cogollo del cedro:
4Arrancó el principal de sus renuevos, y llevólo á la tierra de mercaderes, y púsolo en la ciudad de los negociantes.
5Tomó también de la simiente de la tierra, y púsola en un campo bueno para sembrar, plantóla junto á grandes aguas, púsola como un sauce.
6Y brotó, é hízose una vid de mucha rama, baja de estatura, que sus ramas la miraban, y sus raíces estaban debajo de ella: así que se hizo una vid, y arrojó sarmientos, y echó mugrones.
7Y fué otra grande águila, de grandes alas y de muchas plumas; y he aquí que esta vid juntó cerca de ella sus raíces, y extendió hacia ella sus ramos, para ser regada por ella por los surcos de su plantío.
8En un buen campo, junto á muchas aguas fué plantada, para que hiciese ramos y llevase fruto, y para que fuese vid robusta.
9Di: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: ¿Será prosperada? ¿No arrancará sus raíces, y destruirá su fruto, y secaráse? Todas las hojas de su lozanía secará, y no con gran brazo, ni con mucha gente, arrancándola de sus raíces.
10Y he aquí que plantada está ella, ¿será prosperada? ¿No se secará del todo cuando el viento solano la tocare? En los surcos de su verdor se secará.
11Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
12Di ahora á la casa rebelde: ¿No habéis entendido qué significan estas cosas? Diles: He aquí que el rey de Babilonia vino á Jerusalem, y tomó tu rey y sus príncipes, y llevólos consigo á Babilonia.
13Tomó también de la simiente del reino, é hizo con él alianza, y trájole á juramento; y tomó los fuertes de la tierra,
14Para que el reino fuese abatido y no se levantase, sino que guardase su alianza y estuviese en ella.
15Rebelóse empero contra él enviando sus embajadores á Egipto, para que le diese caballos y mucha gente. ¿Será prosperado, escapará, el que estas cosas hizo? ¿y el que rompió la alianza, podrá huir?
16Vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, que morirá en medio de Babilonia, en el lugar del rey que le hizo reinar, cuyo juramento menospreció, y cuya alianza con él hecha rompió.
17Y no con grande ejército, ni con mucha compañía hará con él Faraón en la batalla, cuando funden baluarte y edifiquen bastiones para cortar muchas vidas.
18Pues menospreció el juramento, para invalidar el concierto cuando he aquí que había dado su mano, é hizo todas estas cosas, no escapará.
19Por tanto, así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Vivo yo, que el juramento mío que menospreció, y mi concierto que ha invalidado, tornaré sobre su cabeza.
20Y extenderé sobre él mi red, y será preso en mi malla; y hacerlo he venir á Babilonia, y allí estaré á juicio con él, por su prevaricación con que contra mí se ha rebelado.
21Y todos sus fugitivos con todos sus escuadrones caerán á cuchillo, y los que quedaren serán esparcidos á todo viento; y sabréis que yo Jehová he hablado.
22Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Y tomaré yo del cogollo de aquel alto cedro, y pondrélo; del principal de sus renuevos cortaré un tallo, y plantarlo he yo sobre el monte alto y sublime;
23En el monte alto de Israel lo plantaré, y alzará ramos, y llevará fruto, y haráse magnífico cedro; y habitarán debajo de él todas las aves, toda cosa que vuela habitará á la sombra de sus ramos.
24Y sabrán todos los árboles del campo que yo Jehová abatí el árbol sublime, levanté el árbol bajo, hice secar el árbol verde, é hice reverdecer el árbol seco. Yo Jehová hablé é hice.

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
3And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.
6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.
8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
9Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
10Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
13And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

1The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2“Son of man, tell a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;
3and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.
4He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, and carried it to a land of traffic. He planted it in a city of merchants.
5“‘“He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fruitful soil. He placed it beside many waters. He set it as a willow tree.
6It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.
7“‘“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot out its branches toward him, from the ground where it was planted, that he might water it.
8It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might produce branches and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a good vine.”’
9“Say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.
10Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”
11Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
12“Say now to the rebellious house, ‘Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.
13He took one of the royal offspring, and made a covenant with him. He also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land,
14that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?
16“‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.
17Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.
18For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.

22“The Lord GOD says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
23I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.
24All the trees of the field will know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish. “‘I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.’”
