Éxodo 40

Catholic Public Domain Version

1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2“In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall raise the tabernacle of the testimony,

3and you shall place the ark in it, and you shall release the veil before it.

4And having brought in the table, you shall place the things which were solemnly commanded upon it. The lampstand shall stand with its lamps,

5and the altar of gold, in which the incense is burned, shall stand before the ark of the testimony. You shall place the tent at the entrance of the tabernacle,

6and before it, the altar of holocaust.

7The washtub shall stand between the altar and the tabernacle, and you shall fill it with water.

8And you shall encompass the atrium and its entrance with hangings.

9And, having taken up the oil of unction, you shall anoint the tabernacle along with its articles, so that they may be sanctified.

10The altar of holocaust and all its vessels,

11the washtub with its base, and all things, you shall consecrate with the oil of unction, so that they may be the Holy of holies.

12And you shall bring forward Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tabernacle of the testimony, and, having washed them with water,

13you shall clothe them in the holy vestments, so that they may minister to me, and so that their unction may accomplish an everlasting priesthood.”

14And Moses did all that the Lord had instructed.

15Therefore, in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was put in place.

16And Moses raised it up, and he positioned the panels as well as the bases and the bars, and he set up the columns,

17and he stretched out the roof over the tabernacle, imposing a cover above it, just as the Lord had decreed.

18And he placed the testimony in the ark, applying the bars beneath, and the oracle above.

19And when he had brought the ark into the tabernacle, he drew the veil before it, in order to fulfill the commandment of the Lord.

20And he placed the table in the tabernacle of the testimony, at the north side, beyond the veil,

21arranging before it the bread of the presence, just as the Lord had instructed Moses.

22And he placed the lampstand in the tabernacle of the testimony, away from the table, on the south side,

23setting the lamps in order, according to the precept of the Lord.

24He also positioned the altar of gold under the roof of the testimony, opposite the veil,

25and he heaped upon it the incense of aromatics, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

26And he positioned the tent at the entrance of the tabernacle of the testimony,

27and the altar of holocaust in the vestibule of the testimony, offering the holocaust and the sacrifices upon it, just as the Lord had decreed.

28Likewise, he stationed the washtub between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, filling it with water.

29And Moses and Aaron, along with his sons, washed their hands and feet,

30whenever they would enter the covering of the covenant, and when they approached to the altar, just as the Lord had instructed Moses.

31And he raised up the atrium around the tabernacle and the altar, drawing the hanging at its entrance. After all these things were perfected,

32the cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the Lord filled it.

33Neither could Moses enter the covering of the covenant: the cloud was covering all things, and the majesty of the Lord was flashing. For the cloud had covered everything.

34Whenever the cloud departed from the tabernacle, the sons of Israel set out by their companies.

35But if it remained hanging over it, they remained in the same place.

36Certainly, the cloud of the Lord lay over the tabernacle by day, and the fire by night, being seen by all the people of Israel throughout all their resting places.

King James Version

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

3And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.

4And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

5And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.

6And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

7And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.

8And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.

9And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.

10And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy.

11And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.

12And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

13And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

14And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:

15And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

16Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.

17And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

18And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars.

19And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

20And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:

21And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

22And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail.

23And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD had commanded Moses.

24And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

25And he lighted the lamps before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

26And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail:

27And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the LORD commanded Moses.

28And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.

29And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as the LORD commanded Moses.

30And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal.

31And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat:

32When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the LORD commanded Moses.

33And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

34Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

35And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

36And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:

37But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

38For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

World English Bible

1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2“On the first day of the first month you shall raise up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

3You shall put the ark of the covenant in it, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.

4You shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are on it. You shall bring in the lamp stand, and light its lamps.

5You shall set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the covenant, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.

6“You shall set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

7You shall set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and shall put water therein.

8You shall set up the court around it, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.

9“You shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and shall make it holy, and all its furniture, and it will be holy.

10You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and sanctify the altar, and the altar will be most holy.

11You shall anoint the basin and its base, and sanctify it.

12“You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall wash them with water.

13You shall put on Aaron the holy garments; and you shall anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office.

14You shall bring his sons, and put tunics on them.

15You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to me in the priest’s office. Their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”

16Moses did so. According to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.

17In the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was raised up.

18Moses raised up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.

19He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.

20He took and put the covenant into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark.

21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the covenant, as the LORD commanded Moses.

22He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside of the veil.

23He set the bread in order on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

24He put the lamp stand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle.

25He lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

26He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil;

27and he burned incense of sweet spices on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.

28He put up the screen of the door to the tabernacle.

29He set the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, as the LORD commanded Moses.

30He set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water therein, with which to wash.

31Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.

32When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as the LORD commanded Moses.

33He raised up the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.

34Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the LORD’s glory filled the tabernacle.

35Moses wasn’t able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it, and the LORD’s glory filled the tabernacle.

36When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys;

37but if the cloud wasn’t taken up, then they didn’t travel until the day that it was taken up.

38For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
