El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Lleva a este pueblo que sacaste de Egipto a la tierra que prometí a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, porque yo les prometí que les daría esta tierra a sus descendientes.
Y JEHOVÁ dijo á Moisés: Ve, sube de aquí, tú y el pueblo que sacaste de la tierra de Egipto, á la tierra de la cual juré á Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob, diciendo: A tu simiente la daré:
And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
The LORD spoke to Moses, “Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’
Enviaré un ángel delante de ti para que expulse a los cananeos, a los amorreos, a los hititas, a los ferezeos, a los heveos y a los jebuseos.
Y yo enviaré delante de ti el ángel, y echaré fuera al Cananeo y al Amorrheo, y al Hetheo, y al Pherezeo, y al Heveo y al Jebuseo:
And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

Es una tierra de la que fluye leche y miel. Pero yo no iré con ustedes, porque son un pueblo rebelde y soberbio, y no resistiré el deseo de destruirlos en el camino».
(A la tierra que fluye leche y miel); porque yo no subiré en medio de ti, porque eres pueblo de dura cerviz, no sea que te consuma en el camino.
Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you on the way.”
Cuando los israelitas oyeron estas duras palabras, se pusieron a llorar, y se despojaron de sus joyas y ornamentos,
Y oyendo el pueblo esta sensible palabra, vistieron luto, y ninguno se puso sus atavíos:
And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
When the people heard this evil news, they mourned; and no one put on his jewelry.
porque el Señor le había ordenado a Moisés que les dijera: «Ustedes son un pueblo rebelde y soberbio. Si estuviera con ustedes un momento, los exterminaría. Quítense las joyas y ornamentos hasta que decida lo que haré con ustedes».
Pues Jehová dijo á Moisés: Di á los hijos de Israel: Vosotros sois pueblo de dura cerviz: en un momento subiré en medio de ti, y te consumiré: quítate pues ahora tus atavíos, que yo sabré lo que te tengo de hacer.
For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
The LORD had said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up among you for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.’”
Después de esto, ellos dejaron de usar joyas.
Entonces los hijos de Israel se despojaron de sus atavíos desde el monte Horeb.

Moisés siempre levantaba, a cierta distancia del campamento, el santuario o Tienda de reunión con Dios. Todo el que quería consultar al Señor, iba allí.
Y Moisés tomó el tabernáculo, y extendiólo fuera del campo, lejos del campo, y llamólo el Tabernáculo del Testimonio. Y fué, que cualquiera que requería á Jehová, salía al tabernáculo del testimonio, que estaba fuera del campo.
And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.
Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it “The Tent of Meeting.” Everyone who sought the LORD went out to the Tent of Meeting, which was outside the camp.
Siempre que Moisés salía hacia la Tienda de reunión, el pueblo se levantaba y se paraba a la entrada de sus tiendas, y se quedaban mirando hasta que él entraba en la Tienda.
Y sucedía que, cuando salía Moisés al tabernáculo, todo el pueblo se levantaba, y estaba cada cual en pie á la puerta de su tienda, y miraban en pos de Moisés, hasta que él entraba en el tabernáculo.
And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

Cuando él entraba, la columna de nube descendía y cubría la entrada, mientras el Señor le hablaba.

And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.

Entonces todo el pueblo adoraba delante de sus tiendas, y se inclinaba ante la columna de nube.
Y viendo todo el pueblo la columna de la nube, que estaba á la puerta del tabernáculo, levantábase todo el pueblo, cada uno á la puerta de su tienda, y adoraba.

En la Tienda de reunión, el Señor le hablaba a Moisés cara a cara, como un hombre habla con su amigo. Después Moisés regresaba al campamento, pero el joven que le ayudaba, Josué hijo de Nun, nunca se alejaba de la Tienda de reunión.
Y hablaba Jehová á Moisés cara á cara, como habla cualquiera á su compañero. Y volvíase al campo; mas el joven Josué, su criado, hijo de Nun, nunca se apartaba de en medio del tabernáculo.
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Moisés un día habló allí con el Señor, y le dijo: ―Me has pedido que lleve a este pueblo a la Tierra prometida, pero no me has dicho a quién enviarás conmigo. Dices que eres mi amigo y que he hallado gracia delante de ti.
Y dijo Moisés á Jehová: Mira, tú me dices á mí: Saca este pueblo: y tú no me has declarado á quién has de enviar conmigo: sin embargo tú dices: Yo te he conocido por tu nombre, y has hallado también gracia en mis ojos.
And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
Moses said to the LORD, “Behold, you tell me, ‘Bring up this people;’ and you haven’t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’
Si es así, te ruego que me indiques qué quieres que haga, para que pueda comprenderte claramente y saber que cuento con tu ayuda. No olvides que esta nación es tu pueblo.
Ahora, pues, si he hallado gracia en tus ojos, ruégote que me muestres ahora tu camino, para que te conozca, porque halle gracia en tus ojos: y mira que tu pueblo es aquesta gente.
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me your way, now, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight; and consider that this nation is your people.”
Y el Señor respondió: ―Yo iré contigo y te daré descanso.
Y él dijo: Mi rostro irá contigo, y te haré descansar.
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Moisés le dijo: ―Si no vas a ir con nosotros, no dejes que nos movamos ni un paso de este lugar.
Y él respondió: Si tu rostro no ha de ir conmigo, no nos saques de aquí.
And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
Moses said to him, “If your presence doesn’t go with me, don’t carry us up from here.
Si no vas con nosotros, ¿quién sabrá que mi pueblo y yo contamos con tu ayuda, y que somos diferentes a los demás pueblos que habitan la tierra?
¿Y en qué se conocerá aquí que he hallado gracia en tus ojos, yo y tu pueblo, sino en andar tú con nosotros, y que yo y tu pueblo seamos apartados de todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra?
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn’t it that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth?”
Entonces el Señor le respondió: ―Haré lo que tú has pedido, porque ciertamente cuentas con mi ayuda, y eres mi amigo.
Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: También haré esto que has dicho, por cuanto has hallado gracia en mis ojos, y te he conocido por tu nombre.
And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
The LORD said to Moses, “I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Moisés, entonces, le dijo: ―¡Permíteme contemplar tu gloria!
El entonces dijo: Ruégote que me muestres tu gloria.
And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Moses said, “Please show me your glory.”
Y el Señor le respondió: ―Haré que pase delante de ti mi gloria, y pronunciaré mi nombre, pues soy bondadoso y compasivo con quien quiero.
Y respondióle: Yo haré pasar todo mi bien delante de tu rostro, y proclamaré el nombre de Jehová delante de ti; y tendré misericordia del que tendré misericordia, y seré clemente para con el que seré clemente.
And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
He said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the LORD’s name before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”
Pero no podrás ver mi rostro, porque ningún hombre podrá verme y seguir viviendo.
Dijo más: No podrás ver mi rostro: porque no me verá hombre, y vivirá.
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
He said, “You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live.”
Sin embargo, quédate en esta roca que está junto a mí,
Y dijo aún Jehová: He aquí lugar junto á mí, y tú estarás sobre la peña:
And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
The LORD also said, “Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.
y cuando pase mi gloria, yo te pondré en una hendidura de la roca y te cubriré con mi mano hasta que haya pasado.
Y será que, cuando pasare mi gloria, yo te pondré en una hendidura de la peña, y te cubriré con mi mano hasta que haya pasado:
And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;
Luego quitaré mi mano, y podrás verme la espalda, pero no el rostro.
Después apartaré mi mano, y verás mis espaldas; mas no se verá mi rostro.
And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”
