ALS aber das Volk sah, dass Mose so lange nicht vom Berge herabkam, sammelte es sich um Aaron und sprach zu ihm: Auf, mache uns einen Gott, der vor uns her ziehe; denn wir wissen nicht, was dem da zugestossen ist, dem Mose, dem Mann, der uns aus dem Lande Ägypten heraufgeführt hat.
MAS viendo el pueblo que Moisés tardaba en descender del monte, allegóse entonces á Aarón, y dijéronle: Levántate, haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque á este Moisés, aquel varón que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le haya acontecido.

Warum sollen die Ägypter sagen: "In böser Absicht hat er sie hinausgeführt, um sie im Gebirge umkommen zu lassen und sie vom Erdboden zu vertilgen"? Lass ab von der Glut deines Zorns und lass dich das Unheil gereuen, das du über dein Volk bringen willst.

Y aconteció, que como llegó él al campo, y vió el becerro y las danzas, enardeciósele la ira á Moisés, y arrojó las tablas de sus manos, y quebrólas al pie del monte.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

Aaron erwiderte: Dein Zorn entbrenne nicht, o Herr; du weisst ja selbst, wie zügellos dieses Volk ist.
Y respondió Aarón: No se enoje mi señor; tú conoces el pueblo, que es inclinado á mal.
And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

Als nun Mose sah, wie zügellos das Volk war (denn Aaron hatte ihm die Zügel schiessen lassen zur Schadenfreude seiner Widersacher),

Und die Leviten taten, wie Mose ihnen befohlen hatte. So fielen an jenem Tage vom Volk an die dreitausend Mann.

Am andern Morgen aber sprach Mose zum Volke: Ihr habt eine grosse Sünde begangen. So will ich denn zum Herrn hinaufsteigen; vielleicht kann ich Sühne schaffen für eure Sünde.
Y aconteció que el día siguiente dijo Moisés al pueblo: Vosotros habéis cometido un gran pecado: mas yo subiré ahora á Jehová; quizá le aplacaré acerca de vuestro pecado.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
On the next day, Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to the LORD. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”
Also ging Mose wieder zum Herrn und sprach: Ach, dieses Volk hat eine grosse Sünde begangen: sie haben sich einen Gott aus Gold gemacht.

Der Herr aber sprach zu Mose: Wer sich an mir versündigt, den tilge ich aus meinem Buche.
Y Jehová respondió á Moisés: Al que pecare contra mí, á éste raeré yo de mi libro.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

So gehe nun und führe das Volk dorthin, wohin ich dir gesagt habe. Siehe, mein Engel soll vor dir her gehen. Aber zu meiner Zeit will ich ihre Sünde an ihnen heimsuchen.
Ve pues ahora, lleva á este pueblo donde te he dicho: he aquí mi ángel irá delante de ti; que en el día de mi visitación yo visitaré en ellos su pecado.

Und der Herr brachte eine Plage über das Volk, dafür dass sie das Kalb angebetet, das Aaron gemacht hatte.
