Éxodo 32

Como Moisés se demoraba en descender del monte, el pueblo se presentó ante Aarón: ―Mira —le dijeron—, haznos dioses que nos dirijan, porque este Moisés que nos sacó de Egipto no aparece; algo debe de haberle ocurrido.

MAS viendo el pueblo que Moisés tardaba en descender del monte, allegóse entonces á Aarón, y dijéronle: Levántate, haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque á este Moisés, aquel varón que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le haya acontecido.

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”

―Tráiganme los aretes de oro que tengan sus esposas, hijos e hijas —respondió Aarón. Así que todos los que tenían aretes se los quitaron y se los entregaron a Aarón.

Y Aarón les dijo: Apartad los zarcillos de oro que están en las orejas de vuestras mujeres, y de vuestros hijos, y de vuestras hijas, y traédmelos.

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

Aaron said to them, “Take off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.”

Entonces todo el pueblo apartó los zarcillos de oro que tenían en sus orejas, y trajéronlos á Aarón:

And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.

Entonces él fundió el oro, y con un cincel hizo un becerro. Al ver el becerro, el pueblo exclamó: «¡Israel, este es tu dios que te sacó de Egipto!».

El cual los tomó de las manos de ellos, y formólo con buril, é hizo de ello un becerro de fundición. Entonces dijeron: Israel, estos son tus dioses, que te sacaron de la tierra de Egipto.

And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

He received what they handed him, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molded calf. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”

Cuando Aarón vio lo feliz que estaba el pueblo con el becerro, edificó un altar delante del becerro, y anunció: ―Mañana habrá fiesta en honor del Señor.

Y viendo esto Aarón, edificó un altar delante del becerro; y pregonó Aarón, y dijo: Mañana será fiesta á Jehová.

And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

A la mañana siguiente madrugaron y comenzaron a presentar holocaustos y ofrendas de paz. Luego de comer y beber, se entregaron a la diversión.

Y el día siguiente madrugaron, y ofrecieron holocaustos, y presentaron pacíficos: y sentóse el pueblo á comer y á beber, y levantáronse á regocijarse.

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Por eso, el Señor le dijo a Moisés: ―Date prisa, desciende, porque el pueblo que sacaste de Egipto se ha contaminado,

Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: Anda, desciende, porque tu pueblo que sacaste de tierra de Egipto se ha corrompido:

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

The LORD spoke to Moses, “Go, get down; for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves!

y pronto han abandonado mis leyes. Han hecho un becerro y lo han adorado; le han ofrecido sacrificios y han dicho: “¡Israel, este es tu dios que te sacó de Egipto!”.

Presto se han apartado del camino que yo les mandé, y se han hecho un becerro de fundición, y lo han adorado, y han sacrificado á él, y han dicho: Israel, estos son tus dioses, que te sacaron de la tierra de Egipto.

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

They have turned away quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’”

El Señor añadió: ―He visto que este pueblo es rebelde y testarudo.

Dijo más Jehová á Moisés: Yo he visto á este pueblo, que por cierto es pueblo de dura cerviz:

And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

The LORD said to Moses, “I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.

Deja que desate contra ellos mi ira y los destruya; y de ti, Moisés, haré otra nación grande.

Ahora pues, déjame que se encienda mi furor en ellos, y los consuma: y á ti yo te pondré sobre gran gente.

Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation.”

Pero Moisés le rogó al Señor que no lo hiciera. ―Señor —suplicó—, ¿por qué se ha encendido tanto tu ira contra este tu pueblo, al que sacaste de Egipto con tu gran poder y tan grandes milagros?

Entonces Moisés oró á la faz de Jehová su Dios, y dijo: Oh Jehová, ¿por qué se encenderá tu furor en tu pueblo, que tú sacaste de la tierra de Egipto con gran fortaleza, y con mano fuerte?

And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

Moses begged the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

¿Quieres que los egipcios digan: “Dios los engañó y los hizo ir a las montañas para matarlos y borrarlos de la tierra”? Aparta tu ira y no le hagas eso a tu pueblo.

¿Por qué han de hablar los Egipcios, diciendo: Para mal los sacó, para matarlos en los montes, y para raerlos de sobre la haz de la tierra? Vuélvete del furor de tu ira, y arrepiéntete del mal de tu pueblo.

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

Why should the Egyptians talk, saying, ‘He brought them out for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth’? Turn from your fierce wrath, and turn away from this evil against your people.

Recuerda lo que le prometiste a tus siervos Abraham, Isaac e Israel cuando juraste por ti mismo: “Yo multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo, y les daré toda la tierra que he prometido a tus descendientes, y la heredarán para siempre”.

Acuérdate de Abraham, de Isaac, y de Israel, tus siervos, á los cuales has jurado por ti mismo, y dícholes: Yo multiplicaré vuestra simiente como las estrellas del cielo; y daré á vuestra simiente toda esta tierra que he dicho, y la tomarán por heredad para siempre.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

Entonces el Señor tuvo compasión de ellos y no los destruyó.

Entonces Jehová se arrepintió del mal que dijo que había de hacer á su pueblo.

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

So the LORD turned away from the evil which he said he would do to his people.

Luego Moisés descendió del monte, llevando en sus manos las dos tablas de piedra, en las que estaban escritos los mandamientos por ambos lados.

Y volvióse Moisés, y descendió del monte trayendo en su mano las dos tablas del testimonio, las tablas escritas por ambos lados; de una parte y de otra estaban escritas.

And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

Moses turned, and went down from the mountain, with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand; tablets that were written on both their sides. They were written on one side and on the other.

Dios mismo preparó las tablas y escribió en ellas.

Y las tablas eran obra de Dios, y la escritura era escritura de Dios grabada sobre las tablas.

And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

Cuando Josué oyó el bullicio del pueblo que gritaba, le dijo a Moisés: ―Suena como si estuvieran preparándose para la guerra.

Y oyendo Josué el clamor del pueblo que gritaba, dijo á Moisés: Alarido de pelea hay en el campo.

And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is the noise of war in the camp.”

Pero Moisés le respondió: ―No es grito de victoria ni de derrota lo que yo oigo; lo que escucho son canciones.

Y él respondió: No es eco de algazara de fuertes, ni eco de alaridos de flacos: algazara de cantar oigo yo.

And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

He said, “It isn’t the voice of those who shout for victory. It is not the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear.”

Cuando llegaron cerca del campamento, Moisés vio el becerro y las danzas, y con terrible ira arrojó las tablas al suelo, al pie del monte, y se rompieron.

Y aconteció, que como llegó él al campo, y vió el becerro y las danzas, enardeciósele la ira á Moisés, y arrojó las tablas de sus manos, y quebrólas al pie del monte.

And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

As soon as he came near to the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing. Then Moses’ anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain.

Luego tomó el becerro, lo fundió en fuego, y cuando se enfrió el metal, lo molió hasta hacerlo polvo. Mezcló ese polvo con agua, para que el pueblo bebiera.

Y tomó el becerro que habían hecho, y quemólo en el fuego, y moliólo hasta reducirlo á polvo, que esparció sobre las aguas, y diólo á beber á los hijos de Israel.

And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

Después se dirigió a Aarón, y le preguntó: ―¿Qué te ha hecho este pueblo, para que le hagas cometer este terrible pecado?

Y dijo Moisés á Aarón: ¿Qué te ha hecho este pueblo, que has traído sobre él tan gran pecado?

And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

Moses said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?”

―No te enojes tanto —dijo Aarón—. Tú bien sabes que este pueblo es inclinado a la maldad.

Y respondió Aarón: No se enoje mi señor; tú conoces el pueblo, que es inclinado á mal.

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

Ellos me dijeron. “Haznos un dios que nos dirija, porque algo le habrá ocurrido a Moisés, el que nos sacó de Egipto”.

Porque me dijeron: Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros, que á este Moisés, el varón que nos sacó de tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le ha acontecido.

For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

For they said to me, ‘Make us gods, which shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’

Entonces les dije: “Tráiganme sus aretes”. Ellos me los trajeron, los eché al fuego… y ¡salió este becerro!

Y yo les respondí: ¿Quién tiene oro? apartadlo. Y diéronmelo, y echélo en el fuego, y salió este becerro.

And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

I said to them, ‘Whoever has any gold, let them take it off.’ So they gave it to me; and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf.”

Cuando Moisés vio que Aarón no había podido guiar bien a los israelitas, y que por eso se habían vuelto locos, de tal modo que la gente de otros pueblos se estaban burlando de ellos,

Y viendo Moisés que el pueblo estaba despojado, porque Aarón lo había despojado para vergüenza entre sus enemigos,

And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

When Moses saw that the people were out of control, (for Aaron had let them lose control, causing derision among their enemies),

se paró a la entrada del campamento y gritó: «¡Todos los que estén de parte del Señor, vengan aquí y únanse a mí!». Entonces todos los levitas se acercaron.

Púsose Moisés á la puerta del real, y dijo: ¿Quién es de Jehová? júntese conmigo. Y juntáronse con él todos los hijos de Leví.

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the LORD’s side, come to me!” All the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.

Moisés les dijo: «El Señor, Dios de Israel, les ordena que tomen sus espadas y recorran el campamento, de uno a otro extremo, y maten a sus hermanos, parientes y vecinos».

Y él les dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová, el Dios de Israel: Poned cada uno su espada sobre su muslo: pasad y volved de puerta á puerta por el campo, y matad cada uno á su hermano, y á su amigo, y á su pariente.

And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

He said to them, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.’”

Los levitas lo hicieron, y aquel día mataron a unos tres mil hombres.

Y los hijos de Leví lo hicieron conforme al dicho de Moisés: y cayeron del pueblo en aquel día como tres mil hombres.

And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

The sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. About three thousand men fell of the people that day.

Moisés, entonces, les dijo: «Hoy se han santificado para el servicio del Señor, porque han obedecido, aun cuando tuvieron que dar muerte a sus hijos y hermanos. Ahora el Señor les dará una gran bendición».

Entonces Moisés dijo: Hoy os habéis consagrado á Jehová, porque cada uno se ha consagrado en su hijo, y en su hermano, para que dé él hoy bendición sobre vosotros.

For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, for every man was against his son and against his brother, that he may give you a blessing today.”

Al día siguiente, Moisés le dijo al pueblo: «Ustedes han cometido un gran pecado, pero yo regresaré a la montaña, y me presentaré delante del Señor, para interceder por ustedes. Quizá él quiera otorgarles el perdón».

Y aconteció que el día siguiente dijo Moisés al pueblo: Vosotros habéis cometido un gran pecado: mas yo subiré ahora á Jehová; quizá le aplacaré acerca de vuestro pecado.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

On the next day, Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to the LORD. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”

Moisés regresó a la presencia del Señor, y le dijo: ―Desgraciadamente este pueblo ha pecado en gran manera y ha hecho ídolos de oro.

Entonces volvió Moisés á Jehová, y dijo: Ruégote, pues este pueblo ha cometido un gran pecado, porque se hicieron dioses de oro,

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

Moses returned to the LORD, and said, “Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.

Sólo te ruego que perdones su pecado. Si no lo haces, te pido que borres mi nombre del libro que has escrito.

Que perdones ahora su pecado, y si no, ráeme ahora de tu libro que has escrito.

Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin—; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written.”

―Cualquiera que haya pecado contra mí —dijo el Señor— será borrado.

Y Jehová respondió á Moisés: Al que pecare contra mí, á éste raeré yo de mi libro.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

The LORD said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot him out of my book.

Ahora ve y conduce al pueblo al lugar que yo te indiqué, y diles que mi ángel irá delante de ellos. Sin embargo, cuando yo visite a este pueblo, lo castigaré por sus pecados.

Ve pues ahora, lleva á este pueblo donde te he dicho: he aquí mi ángel irá delante de ti; que en el día de mi visitación yo visitaré en ellos su pecado.

Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

Now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.”

Luego el Señor envió una gran plaga al pueblo, porque habían adorado al becerro que Aarón les hizo.

Y Jehová hirió al pueblo, porque habían hecho el becerro que formó Aarón.

And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

The LORD struck the people, because of what they did with the calf, which Aaron made.
