Da ging ein Mann aus Levis Haus hin und heiratete eine Tochter Levis.

UN varón de la familia de Leví fué, y tomó por mujer una hija de Leví:

And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.

Und das Weib ward guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn. Als sie sah, daß er kräftig ward, verbarg sie ihn drei Monate.

La cual concibió, y parió un hijo: y viéndolo que era hermoso, túvole escondido tres meses.

And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

Länger aber konnte sie ihn nicht verborgen halten. So nahm sie für ihn ein Papyruskästchen, dichtete es mit Asphalt und Pech, legte den Knaben darein und setzte es in das Schilf am Nilufer.

Pero no pudiendo ocultarle más tiempo, tomó una arquilla de juncos, y calafateóla con pez y betún, y colocó en ella al niño, y púsolo en un carrizal á la orilla del río:

And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

Seine Schwester aber stellte sich von ferne auf, zu sehen, was mit ihm geschähe.

Y paróse una hermana suya á lo lejos, para ver lo que le acontecería.

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Da stieg Pharaos Tochter herab, im Nil zu baden, währenddessen sich ihre Dienerinnen am Nilufer ergingen. Da sah sie das Kästchen mitten im Schilfe. Und sie schickte ihre Magd und ließ es holen.

Y la hija de Faraón descendió á lavarse al río, y paseándose sus doncellas por la ribera del río, vió ella la arquilla en el carrizal, y envió una criada suya á que la tomase.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her servant to get it.

Sie öffnete es und sah es, das Kind. Ein weinender Knabe war es. Und er dauerte sie. Sie sprach: "Dies ist einer von den Knaben der Hebräer."

Y como la abrió, vió al niño; y he aquí que el niño lloraba. Y teniendo compasión de él, dijo: De los niños de los Hebreos es éste.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

Da sprach seine Schwester zu der Tochter Pharaos: "Soll ich gehen? Dann hole ich dir ein stillendes Weib von den Hebräerinnen, daß sie dir den Knaben stille?"

Entonces su hermana dijo á la hija de Faraón: ¿Iré á llamarte un ama de las Hebreas, para que te críe este niño?

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”

Und Pharaos Tochter sprach zu ihr: "Geh!" Da ging das Mädchen und holte des Knaben Mutter.

Y la hija de Faraón respondió: Ve. Entonces fué la doncella, y llamó á la madre del niño;

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

Und Pharaos Tochter sprach zu ihr: "Nimm diesen Knaben und stille ihn mir! Ich gebe dir einen Lohn dafür." Da nahm das Weib den Knaben und stillte ihn.

A la cual dijo la hija de Faraón: Lleva este niño, y críamelo, y yo te lo pagaré. Y la mujer tomó al niño, y criólo.

And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” The woman took the child, and nursed him.

Der Knabe wuchs heran; da brachte sie ihn der Tochter Pharaos, und er galt ihr als Sohn. Sie nannte ihn Moses; sie sagte nämlich: "Ich habe ihn aus dem Wasser gezogen."

Y como creció el niño, ella lo trajo á la hija de Faraón, la cual lo prohijó, y púsole por nombre Moisés, diciendo: Porque de las aguas lo saqué.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

In jener Zeit, als Moses erwachsen war, ging er zu seinen Brüdern hinaus und sah sich ihre Fronarbeiten an. Da sah er, wie ein ägyptischer Mann einen hebräischen Mann, einen seiner Brüder, niederschlug.

Y en aquellos días acaeció que, crecido ya Moisés, salió á sus hermanos, y vió sus cargas: y observó á un Egipcio que hería á uno de los Hebreos, sus hermanos.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

Er wandte sich nun hierhin und dorthin, und als er sah, daß kein Mensch da war, erschlug er den Ägypter. Dann verscharrte er ihn im Sand.

Y miró á todas partes, y viendo que no parecía nadie, mató al Egipcio, y escondiólo en la arena.

And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Am andern Tage ging er wieder aus. Da rauften sich zwei Hebräer. Er sprach zu dem Schuldigen: "Warum schlägst du deinen Genossen?"

Y salió al día siguiente, y viendo á dos Hebreos que reñían, dijo al que hacía la injuria: ¿Por qué hieres á tu prójimo?

And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your fellow?”

Da sprach er: "Wer hat dich zum Obmann und Richter über uns gesetzt? Denkst du daran, mich totzuschlagen, wie du den Ägypter totgeschlagen hast?" Da erschrak Moses und dachte: "So ist die Sache ruchbar geworden."

Y él respondió: ¿Quién te ha puesto á ti por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿piensas matarme como mataste al Egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo miedo, y dijo: Ciertamente esta cosa es descubierta.

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

Auch Pharao erfuhr davon und trachtete, Moses umzubringen. Da floh Moses vor Pharao, kam in das Land Midian und setzte sich an den Brunnen.

Y oyendo Faraón este negocio, procuró matar á Moisés: mas Moisés huyó de delante de Faraón, y habitó en la tierra de Madián; y sentóse junto á un pozo.

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

Der Priester Midians aber hatte sieben Töchter. Diese kamen und wollten Wasser schöpfen und die Tränkrinnen füllen, um ihres Vaters Schafe zu tränken.

Tenía el sacerdote de Madián siete hijas, las cuales vinieron á sacar agua, para llenar las pilas y dar de beber á las ovejas de su padre.

Da kamen die Hirten und vertrieben sie. Moses aber stand auf, half ihnen und tränkte ihre Schafe.

Als sie zu ihrem Vater Raguel kamen, sprach er: "Warum kommt ihr heute so bald?"

Y volviendo ellas á Ragüel su padre, díjoles él: ¿Por qué habéis hoy venido tan presto?

And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

When they came to Reuel, their father, he said, “How is it that you have returned so early today?”

Sie sprachen: "Ein ägyptischer Mann hat uns gegen die Hirten geholfen. Er hat fleißig für uns geschöpft. Dann tränkte er die Schafe."

Y ellas respondieron: Un varón Egipcio nos defendió de mano de los pastores, y también nos sacó el agua, y abrevó las ovejas.

And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

They said, “An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock.”

Da sprach er zu seinen Töchtern: "Wo ist er? Warum habt ihr den Mann dort gelassen? Ladet ihn zum Mahle ein!"

Y dijo á sus hijas: ¿Y dónde está? ¿por qué habéis dejado ese hombre? llamadle para que coma pan.

And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.

He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”

Und Moses willigte ein, bei dem Manne zu bleiben. Und er gab seine Tochter Sippora dem Moses.

Y Moisés acordó en morar con aquel varón; y él dió á Moisés á su hija Séphora:

And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

Sie gebar einen Sohn, und er hieß ihn Gersom; denn er sprach: "Gast bin ich geworden in fremdem Lande."

La cual le parió un hijo, y él le puso por nombre Gersom: porque dijo: Peregrino soy en tierra ajena.

And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.

She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land.”

Nach vielen Tagen starb der König von Ägypten. Die Israeliten aber seufzten unter der Fron und schrien auf. Und ihr Hilferuf stieg zu Gott von der Fron empor.

Y aconteció que después de muchos días murió el rey de Egipto, y los hijos de Israel suspiraron á causa de la servidumbre, y clamaron: y subió á Dios el clamor de ellos con motivo de su servidumbre.

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

In the course of those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

Und Gott hörte ihr Gestöhn. Gott aber gedachte seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob.

Y oyó Dios el gemido de ellos, y acordóse de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.

And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Und Gott sah die Söhne Israels. Und Gott nahm sich ihrer an.
