Or un homme de la maison de Lévi s’en alla, et prit une fille de Lévi.

UN varón de la familia de Leví fué, y tomó por mujer una hija de Leví:

And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

Laquelle conçut et enfanta un fils, et voyant qu’il était beau, elle le cacha pendant trois mois.

La cual concibió, y parió un hijo: y viéndolo que era hermoso, túvole escondido tres meses.

And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

Mais ne le pouvant tenir caché plus longtemps, elle prit un coffret de joncs, et l’enduisit de bitume et de poix, et mit l’enfant dedans, et le posa parmi des roseaux sur le bord du fleuve.

Pero no pudiendo ocultarle más tiempo, tomó una arquilla de juncos, y calafateóla con pez y betún, y colocó en ella al niño, y púsolo en un carrizal á la orilla del río:

And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

Et la soeur de cet enfant se tenait loin pour savoir ce qu’il en arriverait.

Y paróse una hermana suya á lo lejos, para ver lo que le acontecería.

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Or la fille de Pharaon descendit à la rivière, pour se baigner, et ses filles se promenaient sur le bord de la rivière, et ayant vu le coffret au milieu des roseaux, elle envoya une de ses servantes pour le prendre.

Y la hija de Faraón descendió á lavarse al río, y paseándose sus doncellas por la ribera del río, vió ella la arquilla en el carrizal, y envió una criada suya á que la tomase.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

Et l’ayant ouvert, elle vit l’enfant, et voici, l’enfant pleurait ; et elle en fut touchée de compassion, et dit : c’est un des enfants de ces Hébreux.

Y como la abrió, vió al niño; y he aquí que el niño lloraba. Y teniendo compasión de él, dijo: De los niños de los Hebreos es éste.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

Alors la soeur de l’enfant dit à la fille de Pharaon : irai-je appeler une femme d’entre les Hébreues, qui allaite, et elle t’allaitera cet enfant ?

Entonces su hermana dijo á la hija de Faraón: ¿Iré á llamarte un ama de las Hebreas, para que te críe este niño?

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”

Et la fille de Pharaon lui répondit : Va ; et la jeune fille s’en alla, et appela la mère de l’enfant.

Y la hija de Faraón respondió: Ve. Entonces fué la doncella, y llamó á la madre del niño;

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

Et la fille de Pharaon lui dit : emporte cet enfant, et me l’allaite, et je te donnerai ton salaire ; et la femme prit l’enfant et l’allaita.

A la cual dijo la hija de Faraón: Lleva este niño, y críamelo, y yo te lo pagaré. Y la mujer tomó al niño, y criólo.

And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

Et quand l’enfant fut devenu grand, elle l’amena à la fille de Pharaon ; et il lui fut pour fils, et elle le nomma Moïse ; parce que, dit-elle, je l’ai tiré des eaux.

Y como creció el niño, ella lo trajo á la hija de Faraón, la cual lo prohijó, y púsole por nombre Moisés, diciendo: Porque de las aguas lo saqué.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Or il arriva, en ce temps-là, que Moïse, étant devenu grand, sortit vers ses frères, et vit leurs travaux ; il vit aussi un Egyptien qui frappait un Hébreu d’entre ses frères.

Y en aquellos días acaeció que, crecido ya Moisés, salió á sus hermanos, y vió sus cargas: y observó á un Egipcio que hería á uno de los Hebreos, sus hermanos.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

Et ayant regardé çà et là, et voyant qu’il n’y avait personne, il tua l’Egyptien, et le cacha dans le sable.

Y miró á todas partes, y viendo que no parecía nadie, mató al Egipcio, y escondiólo en la arena.

And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Il sortit encore le second jour, et voici, deux hommes Hébreux se querellaient ; et il dit à celui qui avait tort : pourquoi frappes-tu ton prochain ?

Y salió al día siguiente, y viendo á dos Hebreos que reñían, dijo al que hacía la injuria: ¿Por qué hieres á tu prójimo?

And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

Lequel répondit : qui t’a établi Prince et Juge sur nous ? veux-tu me tuer, comme tu as tué l’Egyptien ? et Moïse craignit, et dit : certainement le fait est connu.

Y él respondió: ¿Quién te ha puesto á ti por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿piensas matarme como mataste al Egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo miedo, y dijo: Ciertamente esta cosa es descubierta.

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

Or Pharaon ayant appris ce fait-là, chercha de faire mourir Moïse, mais Moïse s’enfuit de devant Pharaon, et s’arrêta au pays de Madian, et s’assit près d’un puits.

Y oyendo Faraón este negocio, procuró matar á Moisés: mas Moisés huyó de delante de Faraón, y habitó en la tierra de Madián; y sentóse junto á un pozo.

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

Or le Sacrificateur de Madian avait sept filles, qui vinrent puiser de l’eau, et elles emplirent les auges pour abreuver le troupeau de leur père.

Tenía el sacerdote de Madián siete hijas, las cuales vinieron á sacar agua, para llenar las pilas y dar de beber á las ovejas de su padre.

And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

Elles répondirent : un homme Egyptien nous a délivrées de la main des bergers ; et même il nous a puisé abondamment de l’eau, et a abreuvé le troupeau.

Y ellas respondieron: Un varón Egipcio nos defendió de mano de los pastores, y también nos sacó el agua, y abrevó las ovejas.

And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

Et il dit à ses filles : où est-il ? pourquoi avez-vous ainsi laissé cet homme ? appelez-le, et qu’il mange du pain.

And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.

Et Moïse s’accorda de demeurer avec cet homme-là, qui donna Séphora sa fille à Moïse.

Y Moisés acordó en morar con aquel varón; y él dió á Moisés á su hija Séphora:

And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

Dieu donc ouït leurs sanglots, et Dieu se souvint de l’alliance qu’il avait traitée avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob.
