1Wird ein Dieb beim Einbruch betroffen und totgeschlagen, so ist dies für den Täter nicht als Mord anzusehen;
2wenn aber die Sonne zur Zeit der Tat über ihm schon aufgegangen war, so soll ein Mord für ihn als vorliegend angenommen werden.
3Wird das gestohlene Tier, es sei ein Rind oder ein Esel oder ein Stück Kleinvieh, noch lebend in seinem Besitz vorgefunden, so soll er nur doppelten Ersatz leisten;
4Läßt jemand ein Feld oder einen Baumgarten abweiden und sein Vieh dabei frei laufen, so daß es auf dem Felde eines andern weidet, so hat er mit dem besten Ertrage seines Feldes und mit dem besten Ertrage seines Baumgartens Ersatz zu leisten. –
5Wenn Feuer ausbricht und Dornhecken ergreift und es wird ein Garbenhaufen oder das auf dem Halm stehende Getreide oder das Feld dadurch verbrannt, so soll der, welcher den Brand verursacht hat, den Schaden ersetzen.«
6»Wenn jemand einem andern Geld oder Wertsachen zur Aufbewahrung übergibt und es wird dies aus dem Hause des Betreffenden gestohlen, so hat der Dieb, wenn er ausfindig gemacht wird, doppelten Ersatz zu leisten.
7Wird aber der Dieb nicht ausfindig gemacht, so soll der Besitzer des Hauses vor Gott hintreten, damit festgestellt wird, ob er sich nicht an dem Eigentum des andern vergriffen hat! –
8Bei jedem Fall von Veruntreuung, mag es sich um ein Rind, einen Esel, ein Stück Kleinvieh, ein Kleidungsstück, kurz um irgend etwas abhanden Gekommenes handeln, wovon jemand behauptet, daß es sein Eigentum sei, soll die Angelegenheit beider vor Gott kommen, und wen Gott für schuldig erklärt, der soll dem andern doppelten Ersatz leisten. –
9Wenn jemand einem andern einen Esel oder ein Rind oder ein Stück Kleinvieh oder sonst irgendein Stück Vieh zur Hut übergibt und dieses zu Tode oder zu Schaden kommt oder geraubt wird, ohne daß jemand es gesehen hat,
10so soll ein Eid bei Gott zwischen den beiden Parteien entscheiden, ob der Betreffende sich nicht am Eigentum des andern vergriffen hat. Der Eigentümer des Tieres muß dann den Verlust hinnehmen, und (der andere) braucht keinen Ersatz zu leisten.
11Ist es ihm aber wirklich gestohlen worden, so hat er dem Eigentümer Ersatz zu leisten.
12Ist es dagegen (von einem Raubtier) zerrissen worden, so mag er das zerrissene Tier zum Beweis beibringen: für das Zerrissene braucht er keinen Ersatz zu leisten. –
13Wenn ferner jemand ein Stück Vieh von einem andern entlehnt hat und dieses zu Schaden oder zu Tode kommt, so muß er, wenn sein Eigentümer nicht zugegen war, unweigerlich Ersatz leisten;
14war jedoch der Eigentümer zugegen, so braucht er keinen Ersatz zu leisten. Wenn das Tier (um Geld) gemietet war, so ist der Schaden in dem Mietgeld eingeschlossen.«
15»Wenn jemand eine Jungfrau verführt, die noch nicht verlobt ist, und ihr beiwohnt, so muß er sie sich durch Erlegung der Heiratsgabe zur Ehefrau erkaufen.
16Wenn ihr Vater sich aber durchaus weigert, sie ihm zu geben, so soll er das als Heiratsgabe für Jungfrauen übliche Kaufgeld bezahlen.«
17Eine Zauberin sollst du nicht am Leben lassen. –
18Wer einem Tiere beiwohnt, soll mit dem Tode bestraft werden. –
19Wer den Göttern opfert außer dem HERRN allein, soll dem Bann verfallen.
20Einen Fremdling sollst du nicht übervorteilen und nicht bedrücken; denn ihr selbst seid Fremdlinge im Land Ägypten gewesen. –
21Keine Witwe oder Waise sollt ihr bedrücken.
22Wenn du sie irgendwie bedrückst und sie dann zu mir schreien, so werde ich ihr Schreien gewißlich erhören,
23und mein Zorn wird entbrennen, und ich werde euch durch das Schwert sterben lassen, so daß eure Frauen zu Witwen und eure Kinder zu Waisen werden. –
24Wenn du jemandem aus meinem Volk, einem Armen, der neben dir wohnt, Geld leihst, so sollst du dich nicht als Wucherer gegen ihn benehmen: ihr sollt keine Zinsen von ihm fordern. –
25Wenn du dir von einem andern den Mantel als Pfand geben läßt, so sollst du ihm diesen bis zum Sonnenuntergang zurückgeben;
26denn das ist seine einzige Decke, die einzige Hülle für seinen Leib: worauf soll er sonst beim Schlafen liegen? Wenn er zu mir schriee, so würde ich ihn erhören; denn ich bin gnädig. –
27Gott sollst du nicht lästern und einem Fürsten in deinem Volk nicht fluchen. –
28Mit der Abgabe von dem Überfluß deiner Tenne und von dem Abfluß deiner Kelter sollst du nicht zögern. – Den Erstgeborenen deiner Söhne sollst du mir geben.
29Ebenso sollst du es mit deinen Rindern und deinem Kleinvieh halten! Sieben Tage soll (das Erstgeborene) bei seiner Mutter bleiben, und am achten Tage sollst du es mir darbringen. –
30Heilige Männer sollt ihr mir sein und Fleisch von einem auf dem Feld zerrissenen Tiere nicht essen: den Hunden sollt ihr es vorwerfen.«

1CUANDO alguno hurtare buey ú oveja, y le degollare ó vendiere, por aquel buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por aquella oveja cuatro ovejas.
2Si el ladrón fuere hallado forzando una casa, y fuere herido y muriere, el que le hirió no será culpado de su muerte.
3Si el sol hubiere sobre él salido, el matador será reo de homicidio: el ladrón habrá de restituir cumplidamente; si no tuviere, será vendido por su hurto.
4Si fuere hallado con el hurto en la mano, sea buey ó asno ú oveja vivos, pagará el duplo.
5Si alguno hiciere pacer campo ó viña, y metiere su bestia, y comiere la tierra de otro, de lo mejor de su tierra y de lo mejor de su viña pagará.
6Cuando rompiere un fuego, y hallare espinas, y fuere quemado montón, ó haza, ó campo, el que encendió el fuego pagará lo quemado.
7Cuando alguno diere á su prójimo plata ó alhajas á guardar, y fuere hurtado de la casa de aquel hombre, si el ladrón se hallare, pagará el doble.
8Si el ladrón no se hallare, entonces el dueño de la casa será presentado á los jueces, para ver si ha metido su mano en la hacienda de su prójimo.
9Sobre todo negocio de fraude, sobre buey, sobre asno, sobre oveja, sobre vestido, sobre toda cosa perdida, cuando uno dijere: Esto es mío, la causa de ambos vendrá delante de los jueces; y el que los jueces condenaren, pagará el doble á su prójimo.
10Si alguno hubiere dado á su prójimo asno, ó buey, ú oveja, ó cualquier otro animal á guardar, y se muriere, ó se perniquebrare, ó fuere llevado sin verlo nadie;
11Juramento de Jehová tendrá lugar entre ambos de que no echó su mano á la hacienda de su prójimo: y su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.
12Mas si le hubiere sido hurtado, resarcirá á su dueño.
13Y si le hubiere sido arrebatado por fiera, traerle ha testimonio, y no pagará lo arrebatado.
14Pero si alguno hubiere tomado prestada bestia de su prójimo, y fuere estropeada ó muerta, ausente su dueño, deberá pagarla.
15Si el dueño estaba presente, no la pagará. Si era alquilada, él vendrá por su alquiler.
16Y si alguno engañare á alguna doncella que no fuere desposada, y durmiere con ella, deberá dotarla y tomarla por mujer.
17Si su padre no quisiere dársela, él le pesará plata conforme al dote de las vírgenes.
18A la hechicera no dejarás que viva.
19Cualquiera que tuviere ayuntamiento con bestia, morirá.
20El que sacrificare á dioses, excepto á sólo Jehová, será muerto.
21Y al extranjero no engañarás, ni angustiarás, porque extranjeros fuisteis vosotros en la tierra de Egipto.
22A ninguna viuda ni huérfano afligiréis.
23Que si tú llegas á afligirle, y él á mí clamare, ciertamente oiré yo su clamor;
24Y mi furor se encenderá, y os mataré á cuchillo, y vuestras mujeres serán viudas, y huérfanos vuestros hijos.
25Si dieres á mi pueblo dinero emprestado, al pobre que está contigo, no te portarás con él como logrero, ni le impondrás usura.
26Si tomares en prenda el vestido de tu prójimo, á puestas del sol se lo volverás:
27Porque sólo aquello es su cubierta, es aquél el vestido para cubrir sus carnes, en el que ha de dormir: y será que cuando él á mí clamare, yo entonces le oiré, porque soy misericordioso.
28No denostarás á los jueces, ni maldecirás al príncipe de tu pueblo.
29No dilatarás la primicia de tu cosecha, ni de tu licor: me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.
30Así harás con el de tu buey y de tu oveja: siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.
31Y habéis de serme varones santos: y no comeréis carne arrebatada de las fieras en el campo; á los perros la echaréis.

1If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
3If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
8If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
11Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
12And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
13If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

27For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

29Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

1“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.
3If the sun has risen on him, he is guilty of bloodshed. He shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.
5“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten by letting his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.
6“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7“If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double.
8If the thief isn’t found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out whether or not he has put his hand on his neighbor’s goods.

22“You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.
23If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;
24and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.
26If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,
27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
28“You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
29“You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.
30You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.
31“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any meat that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.
