1Si le voleur a été trouvé perçant le mur, et que blessé, il meure ; il n'y a point de meurtre à son sujet.
2Si le soleil était levé, celui qui a frappé le voleur est coupable qu'on le mette à mort ; si le voleur n'a rien, qu'on le vende pour prix de l'objet volé.
3Si la bête volée vit encore et est trouvée dans ses mains, depuis l'âne jusqu'à la brebis, il en rendra le double.
4Si quelqu'un cause du dommage dans un champ ou une vigne, et s'il laisse son bétail paître dans le champ d'autrui, il indemnisera de son propre champ, selon ses produits. Si tout le champ d'autrui a été dévoré, il indemnisera du meilleur de son champ et du meilleur de sa vigne.
5Si un feu rencontrant des épines gagne de proche en proche et brûle des meules ou des épis, ou la récolte d'un champ, celui qui aura allumé le feu paiera la perte.
6Si un homme donne à son voisin de l'argent ou un objet à garder, et que le dépôt soit volé en la maison du dépositaire, si le voleur est découvert il rendra le double ;
7Mais si le voleur n'est pas trouvé, le dépositaire ira devant Dieu et jurera qu'il n'a point agi méchamment au sujet du dépôt,
8Ni du délit déclaré ; que l'on ait pris veau, ou âne, ou brebis, ou vêtement, ou quoi que ce soit, un jugement sera rendu devant Dieu entre le plaignant et le dépositaire, et celui qui sera découvert par le Seigneur restituera le double.
9Si un homme donne à garder à son voisin âne ou veau, brebis ou autre bête, et que la bête soit malade ou morte, ou prise de vive force par l'ennemi sans que personne le sache,
10Il y aura, entre les deux hommes, serment devant Dieu ; le dépositaire jurera qu'il n'a pas agi méchamment au sujet du dépôt ; le voisin ainsi l'agréera, et il n'y aura point d'indemnité.
11Mais si la bête a été dérobée chez lui, il indemnisera le maître de la bête.
12Si elle a été prise par une bête fauve, il le conduira sur ses traces, et ne devra rien.
13Si un homme a emprunté à son voisin une bête qui tombe malade, qui meure on qui soit prise de vive force par l'ennemi, et cela en l'absence du maître, il paiera l'indemnité.
14Mais si le maître était avec la bête, l'emprunteur ne paiera rien ; si c'était un homme à gages, il perdra son salaire.
15Si un homme trompe une vierge qui n'est point encore fiancée, et s'il dort avec elle, il lui donnera une dot et l'épousera ;
16Mais s'il s'y refuse ou si le père de la vierge ne veut pas qu'il l'ait pour femme, il lui donnera autant d'argent qu'on en donne pour doter les vierges.
17Vous ne souffrirez point les magiciens.
18Celui qui se sera accouplé à une bête, punissez-le de mort.
19Celui qui sacrifiera à des dieux autres que le Seigneur sera exterminé.
20Vous ne maltraiterez pas l'étranger et vous ne l'opprimerez point ; car vous étiez étranger en la terre d'Égypte.
21Vous ne maltraiterez jamais la veuve ni l'orphelin.
22Si vous les maltraitez, s'ils crient vers moi, j'entendrai leurs cris ;
23Et je serai courroucé en mon Cœur, et je vous ferai périr par l'épée ; vos femmes deviendront veuves, et vos enfants orphelins.
24Si chez toi tu prêtes de l'argent à ton frère pauvre tu ne le presseras pas, et tu ne lui demanderas point d'intérêt.
25Si tu as pris en nantissement le manteau de ton voisin, tu le lui rendras avant le coucher du soleil.
26Car c'est son vêtement unique, l'unique voile de sa nudité: avec quoi dormirait-il ? Si donc il crie vers moi, je l'écouterai, parce que je suis miséricordieux.
27Tu ne maudiras point les dieux, tu n'injurieras point le prince de ton peuple.
28Tu ne différeras point l'offrande des prémices de tes aires et de tes pressoirs ; tu me donneras les premiers-nés de tes fils.
29Tu me donneras aussi le premier-né de ta génisse, de ta brebis, de ton ânesse ; tu le laisseras sept jours sous sa mère ; le huitième jour tu me le donneras.
30Vous serez des hommes saints devant moi, et vous ne mangerez point de chair enlevée par les bêtes fauves ; vous la jetterez aux chiens.

1CUANDO alguno hurtare buey ú oveja, y le degollare ó vendiere, por aquel buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por aquella oveja cuatro ovejas.
2Si el ladrón fuere hallado forzando una casa, y fuere herido y muriere, el que le hirió no será culpado de su muerte.
3Si el sol hubiere sobre él salido, el matador será reo de homicidio: el ladrón habrá de restituir cumplidamente; si no tuviere, será vendido por su hurto.
4Si fuere hallado con el hurto en la mano, sea buey ó asno ú oveja vivos, pagará el duplo.
5Si alguno hiciere pacer campo ó viña, y metiere su bestia, y comiere la tierra de otro, de lo mejor de su tierra y de lo mejor de su viña pagará.
6Cuando rompiere un fuego, y hallare espinas, y fuere quemado montón, ó haza, ó campo, el que encendió el fuego pagará lo quemado.
7Cuando alguno diere á su prójimo plata ó alhajas á guardar, y fuere hurtado de la casa de aquel hombre, si el ladrón se hallare, pagará el doble.
8Si el ladrón no se hallare, entonces el dueño de la casa será presentado á los jueces, para ver si ha metido su mano en la hacienda de su prójimo.
9Sobre todo negocio de fraude, sobre buey, sobre asno, sobre oveja, sobre vestido, sobre toda cosa perdida, cuando uno dijere: Esto es mío, la causa de ambos vendrá delante de los jueces; y el que los jueces condenaren, pagará el doble á su prójimo.
10Si alguno hubiere dado á su prójimo asno, ó buey, ú oveja, ó cualquier otro animal á guardar, y se muriere, ó se perniquebrare, ó fuere llevado sin verlo nadie;
11Juramento de Jehová tendrá lugar entre ambos de que no echó su mano á la hacienda de su prójimo: y su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.
12Mas si le hubiere sido hurtado, resarcirá á su dueño.
13Y si le hubiere sido arrebatado por fiera, traerle ha testimonio, y no pagará lo arrebatado.
14Pero si alguno hubiere tomado prestada bestia de su prójimo, y fuere estropeada ó muerta, ausente su dueño, deberá pagarla.
15Si el dueño estaba presente, no la pagará. Si era alquilada, él vendrá por su alquiler.
16Y si alguno engañare á alguna doncella que no fuere desposada, y durmiere con ella, deberá dotarla y tomarla por mujer.
17Si su padre no quisiere dársela, él le pesará plata conforme al dote de las vírgenes.
18A la hechicera no dejarás que viva.
19Cualquiera que tuviere ayuntamiento con bestia, morirá.
20El que sacrificare á dioses, excepto á sólo Jehová, será muerto.
21Y al extranjero no engañarás, ni angustiarás, porque extranjeros fuisteis vosotros en la tierra de Egipto.
22A ninguna viuda ni huérfano afligiréis.
23Que si tú llegas á afligirle, y él á mí clamare, ciertamente oiré yo su clamor;
24Y mi furor se encenderá, y os mataré á cuchillo, y vuestras mujeres serán viudas, y huérfanos vuestros hijos.
25Si dieres á mi pueblo dinero emprestado, al pobre que está contigo, no te portarás con él como logrero, ni le impondrás usura.
26Si tomares en prenda el vestido de tu prójimo, á puestas del sol se lo volverás:
27Porque sólo aquello es su cubierta, es aquél el vestido para cubrir sus carnes, en el que ha de dormir: y será que cuando él á mí clamare, yo entonces le oiré, porque soy misericordioso.
28No denostarás á los jueces, ni maldecirás al príncipe de tu pueblo.
29No dilatarás la primicia de tu cosecha, ni de tu licor: me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.
30Así harás con el de tu buey y de tu oveja: siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.
31Y habéis de serme varones santos: y no comeréis carne arrebatada de las fieras en el campo; á los perros la echaréis.

1If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
3If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
8If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
11Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
12And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
13If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
14And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
15But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

25If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
26If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
27For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

29Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
30Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

1“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.
3If the sun has risen on him, he is guilty of bloodshed. He shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.
5“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten by letting his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.
6“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

22“You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.
23If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;
24and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.
26If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,
27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
28“You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
29“You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.
30You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.
31“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any meat that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.
