1Si quelqu'un vole un bœuf ou un mouton et qu'il le tue ou le vende, il rendra cinq bœufs pour le bœuf et quatre moutons pour le mouton.
2Si on prend un voleur par effraction, qu'on le frappe et qu'il meure, on n'est pas coupable de meurtre.
3Si le soleil est levé, on est coupable de meurtre. Le voleur doit indemniser ; s'il n'a pas de quoi, on le vendra pour ce qu'il a volé.
4Si ce qu'il a volé, que ce soit un bœuf, un âne ou un mouton, se retrouve vivant en sa possession, il indemnisera en donnant le double.
5Lorsque quelqu'un, en faisant pâturer dans un champ ou un verger, laissera aller ses bêtes pâturer dans le champ d'autrui, il indemnisera en donnant ce qu'il a de mieux dans son champ et dans son verger.
6Lorsqu'un feu éclatera et gagnera des épines et dévorera du blé en meule ou du blé sur pied ou un champ, celui qui aura allumé ce feu sera tenu d'indemniser.
7Lorsqu'un homme donnera en garde à un autre de l'argent ou des meubles, et qu'ils se trouveront avoir été volés de la maison de celui-ci, si l'on découvre le voleur, il indemnisera en rendant le double ;
8Si on ne découvre pas le voleur, le maître de la maison comparaîtra devant Dieu pour qu'on sache s'il n'a pas mis la main sur le bien de son prochain.
9Quel que soit le corps d'un délit, bœuf, âne, mouton, manteau ou tout objet perdu dont quelqu'un dira : C'est bien celui-là ! l'affaire des deux parties sera portée devant Dieu ; celui que Dieu condamnera, rendra le double à son prochain.
10Lorsqu'un homme donnera en garde à un autre un âne, ou un bœuf, ou un mouton, ou une pièce de bétail quelconque, et qu'elle périra ou aura un membre cassé ou sera emmenée sans qu'il y ait de témoin,
11le serment de l'Eternel interviendra entre les deux parties pour qu'on sache si le dépositaire n'a pas mis la main sur le bien de l'autre ; et le propriétaire de la bête acceptera ce serment et l'autre n'aura point à indemniser.
12Si on la lui a volée, il en indemnisera le propriétaire.
13Si elle a été mise en pièces par une bête féroce, il en produira les restes comme preuve ; il n'indemnisera point de la bête déchirée.
14Lorsqu'un homme empruntera d'un autre une bête et qu'elle se cassera un membre ou périra, sans que le propriétaire soit avec elle, l'emprunteur aura à indemniser ;
15si son propriétaire est avec elle, on n'indemnisera point. Si c'est une bête louée, elle était là pour son prix de louage.
16Lorsqu'un homme séduit une vierge qui n'est pas fiancée et a commerce avec elle, il doit payer un douaire en la prenant pour femme.
17Si le père refuse positivement de la lui donner, il payera l'argent qu'on donne pour douaire des vierges.
18Tu ne laisseras pas vivre de magicienne.
19Quiconque a commerce avec une bête devra être mis à mort.
20Qui sacrifie aux dieux, si ce n'est à l'Eternel, à lui seul, sera détruit comme anathème.
21Tu ne feras pas de tort à l'étranger et tu ne l'opprimeras pas, car vous avez été des étrangers dans le pays d'Egypte.
22Vous ne chagrinerez jamais ni veuve, ni orphelin.
23Si tu les chagrines en quelque manière, car, s'ils viennent à crier à moi, j'entendrai certainement leur cri,
24ma colère s'enflammera, et je vous tuerai par l'épée, et vos femmes seront des veuves et vos fils des orphelins.
25Si tu prêtes de l'argent à quelqu'un de mon peuple, au pauvre qui est avec toi, n'agis pas à son égard comme celui qui fait métier de prêter ; vous ne lui imposerez point d'intérêt.
26Si tu prends en gage le manteau de ton prochain, tu le lui rendras avant que le soleil se couche ;
27car c'est tout ce qu'il a pour se couvrir, c'est le vêtement de sa peau ; sur quoi coucherait-il ? Et s'il crie à moi, j'entendrai, car je suis compatissant.
28Tu ne blasphémeras pas contre Dieu et tu ne maudiras pas celui qui est un prince dans ton peuple.
29Tu ne différeras pas le tribut de ce qui remplit tes champs et de ce qui découle de tes vignes ; tu me donneras le premier-né de tes fils.
30Tu feras de même de celui de tes bœufs et de tes moutons : il sera sept jours avec sa mère, le huitième jour tu me le donneras.
31Vous me serez des hommes saints : vous ne mangerez point la chair qui se trouvera dans les champs, les animaux déchirés ; vous jetterez cela aux chiens.

1CUANDO alguno hurtare buey ú oveja, y le degollare ó vendiere, por aquel buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por aquella oveja cuatro ovejas.
2Si el ladrón fuere hallado forzando una casa, y fuere herido y muriere, el que le hirió no será culpado de su muerte.
3Si el sol hubiere sobre él salido, el matador será reo de homicidio: el ladrón habrá de restituir cumplidamente; si no tuviere, será vendido por su hurto.
4Si fuere hallado con el hurto en la mano, sea buey ó asno ú oveja vivos, pagará el duplo.
5Si alguno hiciere pacer campo ó viña, y metiere su bestia, y comiere la tierra de otro, de lo mejor de su tierra y de lo mejor de su viña pagará.
6Cuando rompiere un fuego, y hallare espinas, y fuere quemado montón, ó haza, ó campo, el que encendió el fuego pagará lo quemado.
7Cuando alguno diere á su prójimo plata ó alhajas á guardar, y fuere hurtado de la casa de aquel hombre, si el ladrón se hallare, pagará el doble.
8Si el ladrón no se hallare, entonces el dueño de la casa será presentado á los jueces, para ver si ha metido su mano en la hacienda de su prójimo.
9Sobre todo negocio de fraude, sobre buey, sobre asno, sobre oveja, sobre vestido, sobre toda cosa perdida, cuando uno dijere: Esto es mío, la causa de ambos vendrá delante de los jueces; y el que los jueces condenaren, pagará el doble á su prójimo.
10Si alguno hubiere dado á su prójimo asno, ó buey, ú oveja, ó cualquier otro animal á guardar, y se muriere, ó se perniquebrare, ó fuere llevado sin verlo nadie;
11Juramento de Jehová tendrá lugar entre ambos de que no echó su mano á la hacienda de su prójimo: y su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.
12Mas si le hubiere sido hurtado, resarcirá á su dueño.
13Y si le hubiere sido arrebatado por fiera, traerle ha testimonio, y no pagará lo arrebatado.
14Pero si alguno hubiere tomado prestada bestia de su prójimo, y fuere estropeada ó muerta, ausente su dueño, deberá pagarla.
15Si el dueño estaba presente, no la pagará. Si era alquilada, él vendrá por su alquiler.
16Y si alguno engañare á alguna doncella que no fuere desposada, y durmiere con ella, deberá dotarla y tomarla por mujer.
17Si su padre no quisiere dársela, él le pesará plata conforme al dote de las vírgenes.
18A la hechicera no dejarás que viva.
19Cualquiera que tuviere ayuntamiento con bestia, morirá.
20El que sacrificare á dioses, excepto á sólo Jehová, será muerto.
21Y al extranjero no engañarás, ni angustiarás, porque extranjeros fuisteis vosotros en la tierra de Egipto.
22A ninguna viuda ni huérfano afligiréis.
23Que si tú llegas á afligirle, y él á mí clamare, ciertamente oiré yo su clamor;
24Y mi furor se encenderá, y os mataré á cuchillo, y vuestras mujeres serán viudas, y huérfanos vuestros hijos.
25Si dieres á mi pueblo dinero emprestado, al pobre que está contigo, no te portarás con él como logrero, ni le impondrás usura.
26Si tomares en prenda el vestido de tu prójimo, á puestas del sol se lo volverás:
27Porque sólo aquello es su cubierta, es aquél el vestido para cubrir sus carnes, en el que ha de dormir: y será que cuando él á mí clamare, yo entonces le oiré, porque soy misericordioso.
28No denostarás á los jueces, ni maldecirás al príncipe de tu pueblo.
29No dilatarás la primicia de tu cosecha, ni de tu licor: me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.
30Así harás con el de tu buey y de tu oveja: siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.
31Y habéis de serme varones santos: y no comeréis carne arrebatada de las fieras en el campo; á los perros la echaréis.

1If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
3If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
8If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
9For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
11Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
12And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
13If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
14And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
15But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
16And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
18Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
19Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
20He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
21Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
23If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;
24And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
26If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
27For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
28Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
29Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
30Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
31And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

1“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.
3If the sun has risen on him, he is guilty of bloodshed. He shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.
5“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten by letting his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.
6“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7“If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double.
8If the thief isn’t found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out whether or not he has put his hand on his neighbor’s goods.

21“You shall not wrong an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.
22“You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.
23If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;
24and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.
26If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,
27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
28“You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
29“You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.
30You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.
31“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any meat that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.
