Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
“Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them:
So du einen hebräischen Knecht kaufst, soll er sechs Jahre dienen und im siebenten soll er frei ausgehen umsonst.
Si comprares siervo hebreo, seis años servirá; mas el séptimo saldrá horro de balde.
If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.
Ist er allein gekommen, so soll er auch allein ausgehen. Ist er der Gemahl eines Weibes, so soll sein Weib mit ihm ausgehen.
Si entró solo, solo saldrá: si tenía mujer, saldrá él y su mujer con él.
If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.
Hat ihm sein Herr ein Weib gegeben, und sie ihm Söhne oder Töchter geboren, so sei das Weib und ihre Kinder ihrem Herrn, und er geht allein aus.
Si su amo le hubiere dado mujer, y ella le hubiere parido hijos ó hijas, la mujer y sus hijos serán de su amo, y él saldrá solo.
If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
Und wenn der Knecht spricht: Ich liebe meinen Herrn, mein Weib und meine Söhne, ich will nicht frei ausgehen;
Y si el siervo dijere: Yo amo á mi señor, á mi mujer y á mis hijos, no saldré libre:
And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
But if the servant shall plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’
So lasse ihn sein Herr herzutreten vor Gott, und lasse ihn an die Tür oder den Türpfosten treten, und sein Herr durchbohre ihm mit einem Pfriemen das Ohr, daß er ihm diene für immer.
Entonces su amo lo hará llegar á los jueces, y harále llegar á la puerta ó al poste; y su amo le horadará la oreja con lesna, y será su siervo para siempre.
Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.
Und verkauft ein Mann seine Tochter als Magd, so soll sie nicht ausgehen, wie die Knechte ausgehen.
Y cuando alguno vendiere su hija por sierva, no saldrá como suelen salir los siervos.
And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
“If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.
Ist sie übel in den Augen ihres Herrn, daß er sie sich nicht antraut, so lasse er sie einlösen; an auswärtiges Volk sie zu verkaufen, soll er keine Macht haben, daß er treulos gegen sie handle.
Si no agradare á su señor, por lo cual no la tomó por esposa, permitirle ha que se rescate, y no la podrá vender á pueblo extraño cuando la desechare.
If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.
So er sie aber seinem Sohne antraut, so soll er nach dem Gericht der Töchter an ihr tun.
Mas si la hubiere desposado con su hijo, hará con ella según la costumbre de las hijas.
And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.
Nimmt er ihm eine andere dazu, so soll er von ihrer Kost, ihrer Decke und ihrer ehelichen Pflicht nichts verringern.
Si le tomare otra, no disminuirá su alimento, ni su vestido, ni el débito conyugal.
If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.
Und tut er ihr diese drei nicht, so soll sie frei ohne Silber ausgehen.
Y si ninguna de estas tres cosas hiciere, ella saldrá de gracia sin dinero.
And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
Wer einen Mann schlägt, daß er stirbt, der soll des Todes sterben.
El que hiriere á alguno, haciéndole así morir, él morirá.
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
“One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death,
Hat er ihm aber nicht nachgestellt und ließ ihn Gott seiner Hand begegnen, so will ich dir einen Ort bestimmen, dahin er fliehen mag.
Mas el que no armó asechanzas, sino que Dios lo puso en sus manos, entonces yo te señalaré lugar al cual ha de huir.
And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.
Vermißt sich aber ein Mann an seinem Genossen, um ihn mit List zu erwürgen, sollst du ihn von Meinem Altare wegnehmen, daß er sterbe.
Además, si alguno se ensoberbeciere contra su prójimo, y lo matare con alevosía, de mi altar lo quitarás para que muera.
But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.
Und wer seinen Vater und seine Mutter schlägt, der soll des Todes sterben.
Y el que hiriere á su padre ó á su madre, morirá.
And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
“Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
Und wer einen Mann stiehlt und ihn verkauft, und er wird in seiner Hand gefunden, der soll des Todes sterben.
Asimismo el que robare una persona, y la vendiere, ó se hallare en sus manos, morirá.
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
“Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
Und wer seinem Vater und seiner Mutter flucht, der soll des Todes sterben.
Igualmente el que maldijere á su padre ó á su madre, morirá.
And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
“Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
Und wenn Männer miteinander hadern und ein Mann den Genossen schlägt mit einem Stein oder mit der Faust und stirbt nicht, fällt aber auf das Lager;
Además, si algunos riñeren, y alguno hiriere á su prójimo con piedra ó con el puño, y no muriere, pero cayere en cama;
And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
“If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn’t die, but is confined to bed;
So soll, wenn er aufsteht und mit einer Stütze auf der Straße geht, der ihn schlug, ungestraft bleiben, nur für seine Versäumnis soll er ihm geben und ihn heilen lassen.
Si se levantare y anduviere fuera sobre su báculo, entonces será el que le hirió absuelto: solamente le satisfará lo que estuvo parado, y hará que le curen.
If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
if he rises again and walks around with his staff, then he who struck him shall be cleared; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for his healing until he is thoroughly healed.
Und schlägt ein Mann seinen Knecht, oder seine Magd mit dem Stocke, so daß er unter seiner Hand stirbt, so soll es gerächt werden.
Y si alguno hiriere á su siervo ó á su sierva con palo, y muriere bajo de su mano, será castigado:
And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
“If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.
Bleibt er aber noch einen oder zwei Tage, so soll es nicht gerächt werden; denn es ist sein Geld.
Mas si durare por un día ó dos, no será castigado, porque su dinero es.
Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.
Und wenn Männer sich zanken und stoßen ein schwangeres Weib, daß die Frucht von ihr ausgeht, aber sonst kein Unfall geschieht, so soll er um Geld gestraft werden, so viel der Gemahl des Weibes ihm auferlegt, und soll es vor Schiedsrichter geben.
Si algunos riñeren, é hiriesen á mujer preñada, y ésta abortare, pero sin haber muerte, será penado conforme á lo que le impusiere el marido de la mujer y juzgaren los árbitros.
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
“If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.
Ist aber ein Unfall geschehen, sollst du geben Seele um Seele.
Mas si hubiere muerte, entonces pagarás vida por vida,
And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,
Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß;
Ojo por ojo, diente por diente, mano por mano, pie por pie,
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
Brandmal um Brandmal, Wunde um Wunde, Strieme um Strieme.
Quemadura por quemadura, herida por herida, golpe por golpe.
Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.
Und schlägt ein Mann seinen Knecht ins Auge oder seine Magd ins Auge und verdirbt es, soll er ihn frei entlassen um des Auges willen.
Y cuando alguno hiriere el ojo de su siervo, ó el ojo de su sierva, y lo entortare, darále libertad por razón de su ojo.
And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
Und wenn einer seinem Knecht einen Zahn oder seiner Magd einen Zahn ausschlägt, so soll er ihn frei entlassen um des Zahnes willen.
Y si sacare el diente de su siervo, ó el diente de su sierva, por su diente le dejará ir libre.
And if he smite out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.
If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let the servant go free for his tooth’s sake.
Und wenn ein Ochse einen Mann oder ein Weib stößt, so daß er stirbt, so soll der Ochse gesteinigt, sein Fleisch aber nicht gegessen werden, und der Herr des Ochsen soll ungestraft bleiben.
Si un buey acorneare hombre ó mujer, y de resultas muriere, el buey será apedreado, y no se comerá su carne; mas el dueño del buey será absuelto.
If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
“If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its meat shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible.
War aber der Ochse stößig seit gestern und ehegestern, und es war seinem Herrn bezeugt worden, und er hat ihn nicht verwahrt, und tötet er einen Mann oder ein Weib, so soll der Ochse gesteinigt werden und auch sein Herr sterben.
Pero si el buey era acorneador desde ayer y antes de ayer, y á su dueño le fué hecho requerimiento, y no lo hubiere guardado, y matare hombre ó mujer, el buey será apedreado, y también morirá su dueño.
But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and this has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.
Wird ihm eine Sühne auferlegt, so gebe er als Lösegeld für seine Seele, alles, was ihm auferlegt worden ist.
Si le fuere impuesto rescate, entonces dará por el rescate de su persona cuanto le fuere impuesto.
If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
If a ransom is imposed on him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is imposed.
Oder stößt er einen Sohn oder stößt er eine Tochter, so tue man ihm nach dem selbigen Gericht.
Haya acorneado hijo, ó haya acorneado hija, conforme á este juicio se hará con él.
Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him.
Stößt der Ochse einen Knecht oder eine Magd, so gebe er dreißig Silbersekel seinem Herrn und der Ochse werde gesteinigt.
Si el buey acorneare siervo ó sierva, pagará treinta siclos de plata su señor, y el buey será apedreado.
If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned.
Und so ein Mann eine Grube öffnet, oder so ein Mann eine Grube gräbt, und sie nicht bedeckt, und es fällt ein Ochse oder ein Esel hinein,
Y si alguno abriere hoyo, ó cavare cisterna, y no la cubriere, y cayere allí buey ó asno,
And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
“If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn’t cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,
So soll der Herr der Grube Ersatz geben und seinem Herrn das Silber zurückgeben, das Tote aber gehört ihm.
El dueño de la cisterna pagará el dinero, resarciendo á su dueño, y lo que fué muerto será suyo.
The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.
the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his.
Und so eines Mannes Ochse, den Ochsen seines Genossen stößt, daß er stirbt, so sollen sie den lebendigen Ochsen verkaufen und das Silber teilen und auch den toten sollen sie teilen.
Y si el buey de alguno hiriere al buey de su prójimo, y éste muriere, entonces venderán el buey vivo, y partirán el dinero de él, y también partirán el muerto.
And if one man’s ox hurt another’s, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.
“If one man’s bull injures another’s, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live bull, and divide its price; and they shall also divide the dead animal.
Oder, wenn bekannt war, daß der Ochse stößig war seit gestern und ehegestern, und sein Herr ihn nicht verwahrt hatte, so soll er Ochsen für Ochsen erstatten, der tote aber soll ihm gehören. Wenn ein Mann einen Ochsen oder eines vom Kleinvieh gestohlen und es geschlachtet oder verkauft hat, so soll er fünf Rinder für den Ochsen, und vier vom Kleinvieh für eines vom Kleinvieh erstatten.
Mas si era notorio que el buey era acorneador de ayer y antes de ayer, y su dueño no lo hubiere guardado, pagará buey por buey, y el muerto será suyo.
Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.
