Und dies sind die Namen der Söhne Israels, die mit Jakob nach Ägypten kamen. Ein Mann und sein Haus kamen sie.

Y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo, y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigorismo.

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

Die Wehmütter aber fürchteten Gott und taten nicht wie der König von Ägypten zu ihnen geredet hatte und ließen die Knaben am Leben.

Und der König von Ägypten rief die Wehmütter und sprach zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr so getan und die Knaben am Leben gelassen?

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

Die Wehmütter aber sprachen zu Pharao: Weil die Hebräerinnen nicht sind wie die ägyptischen Weiber; denn sie sind lebhaft, ehe die Wehmutter zu ihnen kommt, da haben sie geboren.

Y las parteras respondieron á Faraón: Porque las mujeres Hebreas no son como las Egipcias: porque son robustas, y paren antes que la partera venga á ellas.

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”

Und Gott tat den Wehmüttern Gutes; und das Volk mehrte sich und ward sehr zahlreich.

Y Dios hizo bien á las parteras: y el pueblo se multiplicó, y se corroboraron en gran manera.

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
