1Dies sind die Namen der Söhne Israel (Israeliten), die nach Ägypten gekommen sind, mit Jakob, jeder mit seinem Haus, kamen sie:
2Ruben, Simeon, Levi und Juda.
3Issaschar, Sebulon und Benjamin.
4Dan und Naftali, Gad und Asser.
5Und alle Seelen aus Jakobs Stamm (Oberschenkel) waren siebzig Seelen; Joseph aber war in Ägypten.
6Und Joseph starb und all seine Brüder und seine (jene) Generation (Geschlecht).
7Und die Söhne Israels (Israeliten) waren fruchtbar und pflanzten sich fort und sie wurden viele und sie wurden überaus (im höchsten Grade) stark (mächtig) und das Land war voll (erfüllt) mit ihnen.
8Und es stand ein neuer König über Ägypten auf, der Joseph nicht mehr kannte.
9Und er sprach zu seinem Volk: Siehe, das Volk der Söhne Israels (Israeliten) ist zahlreich und mächtiger als wir.
10Wohlan! Wir wollen klug gegen es vorgehen, damit es nicht groß wird und damit es nicht geschieht, dass sie eine Schlacht ausrufen und damit nicht dem auch noch hinzugefügt wird, dass es uns hasst und uns bekämpft und es aufsteigt von der Erde (sich zum Herren über das Land macht).
11Und sie setzten über es Befehlshaber der Frondienste (Fronvögte), um es zu bedrücken mit ihrem Frondienst (Lasttragen). Und es baute Vorratsstädte für den Pharao: Pitom und Ramses.
12Und wie sie es bedrückten, so wurde es zahlreich und so wurde es stark. Und sie hatten Furcht vor den Söhnen Israels (Israeliten).
13Und sie hielten die Söhne Israels zur Arbeit an durch Misshandlung.
14Und sie verbitterten deren (ihr) Leben durch harte Arbeit im Ton und in den Ziegeln und durch alle Arbeit auf dem Feld. Und ihre ganze Arbeit arbeiteten sie bei ihnen durch Misshandlung.
15Und der König von Ägypten sagte zu den hebräischen Hebammen, der Name der ersten war Schifra und der Name der zweiten war Pua.
16und er sprach: Wenn die Hebräerinnen gebären und ihr seht auf den Töpferscheiben dass es ein Sohn ist, tötet ihn; wenn es eine Tochter ist, lasst sie leben.
17Aber die Hebammen fürchteten JHWH und taten nicht, wie ihnen der König von Ägypten gesagt hatte und ließen die Kinder leben.
18Da rief der König von Ägypten die Hebammen und sagte zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr diese Sache getan und habt die Kinder leben lassen?
19Die Hebammen sagten zu dem Pharao: Weil die Hebräerinnen nicht so sind wie die Ägypterinnen, denn sie sind kräftig und haben schon geboren bevor die Hebamme hineinkommt.
20Und JHWH tat den Hebammen Gutes und das ganze Volk vermehrte sich und wurde zahlreich.
21Und es geschah, weil die Hebammen JHWH fürchteten und er schenkte ihnen Nachkommen.
22Und der Pharao befahl seinem ganzen Volk folgendes: Jeden Sohn, der geboren wird, sollt ihr in den Fluß werfen und alle Töchter sollt ihr leben lassen.

1ESTOS son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, que entraron en Egipto con Jacob; cada uno entró con su familia.
2Rubén, Simeón, Leví y Judá;
3Issachâr, Zabulón y Benjamín;
4Dan y Nephtalí, Gad y Aser.
5Y todas las almas de los que salieron del muslo de Jacob, fueron setenta. Y José estaba en Egipto.
6Y murió José, y todos sus hermanos, y toda aquella generación.
7Y los hijos de Israel crecieron, y multiplicaron, y fueron aumentados y corroborados en extremo; y llenóse la tierra de ellos.
8Levantóse entretanto un nuevo rey sobre Egipto, que no conocía á José; el cual dijo á su pueblo:
9He aquí, el pueblo de los hijos de Israel es mayor y más fuerte que nosotros:
10Ahora, pues, seamos sabios para con él, porque no se multiplique, y acontezca que viniendo guerra, él también se junte con nuestros enemigos, y pelee contra nosotros, y se vaya de la tierra.
11Entonces pusieron sobre él comisarios de tributos que los molestasen con sus cargas; y edificaron á Faraón las ciudades de los bastimentos, Phithom y Raamses.
12Empero cuanto más los oprimían, tanto más se multiplicaban y crecían: así que estaban ellos fastidiados de los hijos de Israel.
13Y los Egipcios hicieron servir á los hijos de Israel con dureza:
14Y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo, y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigorismo.
15Y habló el rey de Egipto á las parteras de las Hebreas, una de las cuales se llamaba Siphra, y otra Phúa, y díjoles:
16Cuando parteareis á las Hebreas, y mirareis los asientos, si fuere hijo, matadlo; y si fuere hija, entonces viva.
17Mas las parteras temieron á Dios, y no hicieron como les mandó el rey de Egipto, sino que reservaban la vida á los niños.
18Y el rey de Egipto hizo llamar á las parteras, y díjoles: Por qué habéis hecho esto, que habéis reservado la vida á los niños?
19Y las parteras respondieron á Faraón: Porque las mujeres Hebreas no son como las Egipcias: porque son robustas, y paren antes que la partera venga á ellas.
20Y Dios hizo bien á las parteras: y el pueblo se multiplicó, y se corroboraron en gran manera.
21Y por haber las parteras temido á Dios, él les hizo casas.
22Entonces Faraón mandó á todo su pueblo, diciendo: Echad en el río todo hijo que naciere, y á toda hija reservad la vida.

1Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
2Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
3Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
4Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
5And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
6And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
7And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
9And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
11Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
14And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
15And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
16And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
17But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
18And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
19And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
20Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
21And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
22And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

7The children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who didn’t know Joseph.
9He said to his people, “Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we.
10Come, let’s deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies and fight against us, and escape out of the land.”
11Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.
12But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They started to dread the children of Israel.
13The Egyptians ruthlessly made the children of Israel serve,
14and they made their lives bitter with hard service in mortar and in brick, and in all kinds of service in the field, all their service, in which they ruthlessly made them serve.
15The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah,
16and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”
17But the midwives feared God, and didn’t do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive.
18The king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this thing and saved the boys alive?”
19The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”
20God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty.
21Because the midwives feared God, he gave them families.
22Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “You shall cast every son who is born into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”
