Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Israel que vieram para o Egito com Jacó, cada um com sua casa:

ESTOS son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, que entraron en Egipto con Jacob; cada uno entró con su familia.

Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

Todos os descendentes de Jacó eram setenta. José já estava no Egito.

Então, um novo rei se levantou no Egito, o qual não se importava com a memória de José.

Eles tornaram a vida deles amarga, com trabalhos pesados com barro e tijolo, e com todo tipo de trabalho nos campos. Todo o trabalho exigido era pesado.

Y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo, y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigorismo.

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

Ele disse: "Quando vós ajudardes as hebreias no parto, observai quando elas derem à luz. Se for menino, então deveis matá-lo; mas, se for menina, ela viverá".

And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”

Entretanto as parteiras temiam a Deus e não fizeram como o rei do Egito lhes ordenara. Em vez disso, deixaram que os meninos vivessem.

O rei do Egito convocou as parteiras e lhes disse: "Por que deixastes os meninos viverem?".

Y el rey de Egipto hizo llamar á las parteras, y díjoles: Por qué habéis hecho esto, que habéis reservado la vida á los niños?

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

As parteiras responderam a Faraó: "As hebreias não são como as egípcias; elas são vigorosas e terminam de dar à luz antes que uma parteira chegue a até elas".

Y las parteras respondieron á Faraón: Porque las mujeres Hebreas no son como las Egipcias: porque son robustas, y paren antes que la partera venga á ellas.

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”

Deus protegeu aquelas parteiras. O povo cresceu numerosamente e se tornou muito forte.

Y Dios hizo bien á las parteras: y el pueblo se multiplicó, y se corroboraron en gran manera.

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

Por conta do temor das parteiras, Deus lhes deu famílias.

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Faraó ordenou a todo o seu povo: "Deveis jogar no rio todos os meninos nascidos, mas deixai todas as meninas viverem".

Entonces Faraón mandó á todo su pueblo, diciendo: Echad en el río todo hijo que naciere, y á toda hija reservad la vida.

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “You shall cast every son who is born into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”
