Et ce sont ici les noms des fils d'Israël venus en Egypte. Ils y entrèrent avec Jacob, chacun d'eux avec sa famille :

ESTOS son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, que entraron en Egipto con Jacob; cada uno entró con su familia.

Toutes les personnes issues de Jacob étaient au nombre de soixante-dix, et Joseph était déjà en Egypte.

Ahora, pues, seamos sabios para con él, porque no se multiplique, y acontezca que viniendo guerra, él también se junte con nuestros enemigos, y pelee contra nosotros, y se vaya de la tierra.

Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

Alors on établit sur Israël des chefs de corvée pour l'écraser par leurs réquisitions, et il bâtit pour Pharaon des villes de greniers, Pithom et Ramsès.

Entonces pusieron sobre él comisarios de tributos que los molestasen con sus cargas; y edificaron á Faraón las ciudades de los bastimentos, Phithom y Raamses.

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

Mais plus on l'opprimait, plus il devenait nombreux et s'étendait. Et les fils d'Israël devinrent odieux aux Egyptiens.

ils leur rendirent la vie amère par des travaux pénibles, mortier, briques et travaux de campagne de toute sorte ; tout le travail qu'on tirait d'eux était travail forcé.

Y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo, y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigorismo.

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”

Mais les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu : elles ne firent point comme leur avait dit le roi d'Egypte, mais laissèrent vivre les garçons.

Mas las parteras temieron á Dios, y no hicieron como les mandó el rey de Egipto, sino que reservaban la vida á los niños.

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

Et le roi d'Egypte fit appeler les sages-femmes et leur dit : Pourquoi avez-vous agi de la sorte et laissé vivre les garçons ?

Y el rey de Egipto hizo llamar á las parteras, y díjoles: Por qué habéis hecho esto, que habéis reservado la vida á los niños?

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

Et les sages-femmes dirent à Pharaon : C'est que les femmes des Hébreux ne sont pas comme les Egyptiennes. Elles sont vigoureuses ; avant que leur arrive la sage-femme, elles sont accouchées !

Y las parteras respondieron á Faraón: Porque las mujeres Hebreas no son como las Egipcias: porque son robustas, y paren antes que la partera venga á ellas.

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”

Et Dieu fit du bien aux sages-femmes, et le peuple devint nombreux et extrêmement fort.

Y Dios hizo bien á las parteras: y el pueblo se multiplicó, y se corroboraron en gran manera.

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

Alors, comme les sages-femmes avaient craint Dieu et que Dieu avait accru les familles des Israélites,

Y por haber las parteras temido á Dios, él les hizo casas.

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Pharaon donna cet ordre à tout son peuple : Tous les fils qui naîtront, jetez-les dans le fleuve ; mais toutes les filles, laissez-les vivre !

Entonces Faraón mandó á todo su pueblo, diciendo: Echad en el río todo hijo que naciere, y á toda hija reservad la vida.

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
