Éxodo 18

Cependant, Jéthro, prêtre de Madian, beau-père de Moïse, apprit tout ce que le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël avait fait en faveur de son peuple ; car le Seigneur avait tiré Israël de l'Égypte.

Y OYÓ Jethro, sacerdote de Madián, suegro de Moisés, todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con Moisés, y con Israel su pueblo, y cómo Jehová había sacado á Israel de Egipto:

When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;

Now Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.

Et Jéthro, beau-père de Moïse, avait reçu Séphora, femme de Moïse, après la séparation,

Y tomó Jethro, suegro de Moisés, á Séphora la mujer de Moisés, después que él la envió,

Then Jethro, Moses’ father in law, took Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back,

Ainsi que ses deux fils, l'un, qu'à sa naissance il nomma Gersam, parce que, dit-il, je suis passager en une contrée étrangère,

Y á sus dos hijos; el uno se llamaba Gersom, porque dijo, Peregrino he sido en tierra ajena;

And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:

and her two sons. The name of one son was Gershom, for Moses said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land”.

L'autre, qu'il nomma Eliézer, parce que, dit-il, Dieu est mon auxiliaire, et il m'a tiré des mains du Pharaon.

Y el otro se llamaba Eliezer, porque dijo, El Dios de mi padre me ayudó, y me libró del cuchillo de Faraón.

And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:

Jéthro, beau-père de Moïse, les fils de celui-ci et sa femme, partirent donc pour l'aller trouver dans le désert, où il campait sur la montagne du Seigneur.

Y Jethro, el suegro de Moisés, con sus hijos y su mujer, llegó á Moisés en el desierto, donde tenía el campo junto al monte de Dios;

And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with Moses’ sons and his wife to Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the Mountain of God.

Et l'on vint dire à Moïse : Voilà que ton beau-père Jéthro arrive avec ta femme et tes deux fils.

Y dijo á Moisés: Yo tu suegro Jethro vengo á ti, con tu mujer, y sus dos hijos con ella.

And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.

He said to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, have come to you with your wife, and her two sons with her.”

Moïse alla à la rencontre de son beau-père ; il se prosterna devant lui, et il le baisa ; après qu'ils se furent tous embrassés, il les conduisit sous sa tente.

Y Moisés salió á recibir á su suegro, é inclinóse, y besólo: y preguntáronse el uno al otro cómo estaban, y vinieron á la tienda.

And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.

Là, Moïse raconta à son beau-père, tout ce que le Seigneur avait fait aux Égyptiens et à Pharaon, à cause d'Israël, ainsi que toutes ses souffrances sur la route, depuis que le Seigneur les avait tirés d'Égypte.

Y Moisés contó á su suegro todas las cosas que Jehová había hecho á Faraón y á los Egipcios por amor de Israel, y todo el trabajo que habían pasado en el camino, y cómo los había librado Jehová.

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.

Jéthro fut saisi d'admiration pour les bienfaits de Dieu en faveur du peuple, et parce qu’il l’avait tiré des mains des Égyptiens, et des mains du Pharaon.

Y alegróse Jethro de todo el bien que Jehová había hecho á Israel, que lo había librado de mano de los Egipcios.

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.

And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Jethro said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Je reconnais aujourd'hui à ce qui est advenu, quand les Égyptiens vous ont poursuivis, que le Seigneur est grand au-dessus de tous les dieux.

Ahora conozco que Jehová es grande más que todos los dioses; hasta en lo que se ensoberbecieron contra ellos.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

Et Jéthro, beau-père de Moïse, fit des holocaustes et des sacrifices à Dieu. Or, Aaron et tous les anciens d'Israël survinrent pour manger des pains devant le Seigneur, avec le beau-père de Moïse.

Y tomó Jethro, suegro de Moisés, holocaustos y sacrificios para Dios: y vino Aarón y todos los ancianos de Israel á comer pan con el suegro de Moisés delante de Dios.

And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father in law before God.

À l'aurore, Moïse s'assit pour juger le peuple, et la multitude comparut devant Moïse, depuis le matin jusqu'au soir.

Y aconteció que otro día se sentó Moisés á juzgar al pueblo; y el pueblo estuvo delante de Moisés desde la mañana hasta la tarde.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

On the next day, Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from the morning to the evening.

Jéthro, ayant vu tout ce qu'il faisait en faveur du peuple, dit : Que fais-tu ? Pourquoi sièges-tu seul, quand le peuple comparait devant toi, depuis le matin jusqu'au soir ?

Y viendo el suegro de Moisés todo lo que él hacía con el pueblo, dijo: ¿Qué es esto que haces tú con el pueblo? ¿por qué te sientas tú solo, y todo el pueblo está delante de ti desde la mañana hasta la tarde?

And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, “What is this thing that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning to evening?”

Moïse répondit à son beau-père : Tout le peuple vient à moi, demander jugement au nom du Seigneur.

Y Moisés respondió á su suegro: Porque el pueblo viene á mí para consultar á Dios:

And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.

Quand une contestation s'élève entre eux, ils viennent à moi, je juge chacun, et je leur rappelle les commandements de Dieu et sa loi.

Cuando tienen negocios, vienen á mí; y yo juzgo entre el uno y el otro, y declaro las ordenanzas de Dios y sus leyes.

When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.”

Et le beau-père de Moïse lui dit : Tu n'agis pas bien en cette œuvre.

Entonces el suegro de Moisés le dijo: No haces bien:

And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good.

Tu consumeras toi et ton peuple par une fatigue insoutenable ; trop pesante est cette œuvre pour toi, et tu ne pourras la faire seul.

Desfallecerás del todo, tú, y también este pueblo que está contigo; porque el negocio es demasiado pesado para ti; no podrás hacerlo tú solo.

Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to perform it yourself alone.

Ecoute-moi donc ; je te donnerai un conseil, et Dieu sera avec toi ; sois pour le peuple l'interprète des choses de Dieu, et rapporte à Dieu ses paroles.

Oye ahora mi voz, yo te aconsejaré, y Dios será contigo. Está tú por el pueblo delante de Dios, y somete tú los negocios á Dios.

Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You represent the people before God, and bring the causes to God.

Tu leur déclareras les ordres de Dieu et sa loi tu leur indiqueras les voies en lesquelles ils doivent marcher, et les œuvres qu'ils auront à faire.

Y enseña á ellos las ordenanzas y las leyes, y muéstrales el camino por donde anden, y lo que han de hacer.

And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

You shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and shall show them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Cependant, choisis parmi le peuple, pour te les associer, des hommes forts et pieux, des hommes justes, haïssant l'orgueil ; mets à la tête du peuple des chefs de mille hommes, des chefs de cent, des chefs de cinquante et des chefs de dix.

Además inquiere tú de entre todo el pueblo varones de virtud, temerosos de Dios, varones de verdad, que aborrezcan la avaricia; y constituirás á éstos sobre ellos caporales sobre mil, sobre ciento, sobre cincuenta y sobre diez.

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men which fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

Qu'ils jugent le peuple à toute heure, qu'ils te rapportent toute affaire d'importance, qu'ils jugent eux-mêmes les causes les plus faciles ; ils allégeront ainsi ton labeur en le partageant.

Los cuales juzgarán al pueblo en todo tiempo; y será que todo negocio grave lo traerán á ti, y ellos juzgarán todo negocio pequeño: alivia así la carga de sobre ti, y llevarla han ellos contigo.

And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

Let them judge the people at all times. It shall be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.

Si tu exécutes ce projet, Dieu te fortifiera et tu pourras tenir bon, et ce peuple s'en ira en paix au lieu où il doit aller.

Si esto hicieres, y Dios te lo mandare, tú podrás persistir, y todo este pueblo se irá también en paz á su lugar.

If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

If you will do this thing, and God commands you so, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

Moïse fut docile au conseil de son beau-père, et il exécuta ce qu'il lui avait dit.

Y oyó Moisés la voz de su suegro, é hizo todo lo que dijo.

So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

Alors, Moïse congédia son beau-père, et celui-ci retourna dans son pays.

Y despidió Moisés á su suegro, y fuése á su tierra.

And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.
