1Darnach brach die ganze Gemeinde Israels nach dem Befehl des Herrn aus der Wüste Sin auf (und zog weiter,) von Station zu Station, und sie lagerten sich in Rephidim; aber da war kein Wasser für das Volk zum Trinken. (a) 4Mo 33:14
2Da haderte das Volk mit Mose und sprach: Schaffe uns Wasser, dass wir zu trinken haben! Mose erwiderte ihnen: Was hadert ihr mit mir? Warum versucht ihr den Herrn?
3Als nun das Volk daselbst nach Wasser dürstete, murrte es wider Mose und sprach: Warum hast du uns aus Ägypten heraufgeführt, um uns und unsre Kinder und unsre Herden vor Durst umkommen zu lassen? (a) 4Mo 20:2-4
4Da schrie Mose zum Herrn und sprach: Was soll ich mit diesem Volke anfangen? Es fehlt nicht viel, so steinigen sie mich. (a) 4Mo 14:10
5Der Herr antwortete Mose: Ziehe vor dem Volke einher und nimm etliche von den Ältesten Israels mit dir; auch deinen Stab, mit dem du den Nil geschlagen hast, nimm zur Hand und gehe (a) 2Mo 7:20
6zu dem Felsen am Horeb; siehe, ich werde daselbst vor dich treten. Dann schlage an den Felsen, so wird Wasser hervorströmen, und das Volk hat zu trinken. Und Mose tat so vor den Augen der Ältesten Israels. (a) 4Mo 20:11; Ps 78:15; 105:41
7Und man nannte den Ort Massa und Meriba, weil die Israeliten gehadert und weil sie den Herrn versucht hatten, indem sie sprachen: Ist der Herr in unsrer Mitte oder nicht? (1) d.i. Versuchung. (2) d.i. Hader.
8Da kamen die Amalekiter und stritten wider Israel in Rephidim. (a) 5Mo 25:17
9Und Mose sprach zu Josua: Erwähle dir Männer und ziehe morgen aus, wider die Amalekiter zu streiten. Ich aber will mich auf die Höhe des Hügels stellen mit dem Gottesstabe in der Hand.
10Und Josua tat, wie Mose ihm befohlen hatte: er zog aus, wider die Amalekiter zu streiten; Mose aber und Aaron und Hur stiegen auf die Höhe des Hügels.
11Solange nun Mose seine Arme hochhielt, hatte Israel die Oberhand; wenn er aber seine Arme sinken liess, hatte Amalek die Oberhand.
12Da jedoch die Arme Moses schwer wurden, nahmen sie einen Stein und legten denselben unter ihn, und er setzte sich darauf, während Aaron und Hur seine Arme stützten, der eine auf dieser, der andre auf jener Seite. So blieben seine Arme fest, bis die Sonne unterging.
13Und Josua warf die Amalekiter und ihr Kriegsvolk nieder mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
14Darnach sprach der Herr zu Mose: Schreibe dies zum Gedächtnis in ein Buch und schärfe es Josua ein: "Ich will das Andenken Amaleks ganz und gar austilgen unter dem Himmel." (a) 4Mo 24:20; 5Mo 25:19; 1Sa 15:2 3
15Und Mose baute einen Altar und nannte ihn "Der Herr ist mein Panier".
16Und er sprach: Die Hand an das Panier des Herrn! / Krieg hat der Herr mit Amalek / von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!

1Y TODA la congregación de los hijos de Israel partió del desierto de Sin, por sus jornadas, al mandamiento de Jehová, y asentaron el campo en Rephidim: y no había agua para que el pueblo bebiese.
2Y altercó el pueblo con Moisés, y dijeron: Danos agua que bebamos. Y Moisés les dijo: ¿Por qué altercáis conmigo? ¿por qué tentáis á Jehová?
3Así que el pueblo tuvo allí sed de agua, y murmuró contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto, para matarnos de sed á nosotros, y á nuestros hijos, y á nuestros ganados?
4Entonces clamó Moisés á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Qué haré con este pueblo? de aquí á un poco me apedrearán.
5Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Pasa delante del pueblo, y toma contigo de los ancianos de Israel; y toma también en tu mano tu vara, con que heriste el río, y ve:
6He aquí que yo estoy delante de ti allí sobre la peña en Horeb; y herirás la peña, y saldrán de ella aguas, y beberá el pueblo. Y Moisés lo hizo así en presencia de los ancianos de Israel.
7Y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Massah y Meribah, por la rencilla de los hijos de Israel, y porque tentaron á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Está, pues, Jehová entre nosotros, ó no?
8Y vino Amalec, y peleó con Israel en Rephidim.
9Y dijo Moisés á Josué: Escógenos varones, y sal, pelea con Amalec: mañana yo estaré sobre la cumbre del collado, y la vara de Dios en mi mano.
10E hizo Josué como le dijo Moisés, peleando con Amalec; y Moisés y Aarón y Hur subieron á la cumbre del collado.
11Y sucedía que cuando alzaba Moisés su mano, Israel prevalecía; mas cuando él bajaba su mano, prevalecía Amalec.
12Y las manos de Moisés estaban pesadas; por lo que tomaron una piedra, y pusiéronla debajo de él, y se sentó sobre ella: y Aarón y Hur sustentaban sus manos, el uno de una parte y el otro de otra; así hubo en sus manos firmeza hasta que se puso el sol.
13Y Josué deshizo á Amalec y á su pueblo á filo de espada.
14Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Escribe esto para memoria en un libro, y di á Josué que del todo tengo de raer la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo.
15Y Moisés edificó un altar, y llamó su nombre Jehová-nissi;
16Y dijo: Por cuanto la mano sobre el trono de Jehová, Jehová tendrá guerra con Amalec de generación en generación.

1And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
8Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
10So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi:
16For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

1All the congregation of the children of Israel traveled from the wilderness of Sin, starting according to the LORD’s commandment, and encamped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.
2Therefore the people quarreled with Moses, and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?”
3The people were thirsty for water there; so the people murmured against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”
4Moses cried to the LORD, saying, “What shall I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
5The LORD said to Moses, “Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7He called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because the children of Israel quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us, or not?”
8Then Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out to fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God’s rod in my hand.”
10So Joshua did as Moses had told him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed. When he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12But Moses’ hands were heavy; so they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset.
13Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14The LORD said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky.”
15Moses built an altar, and called its name “The LORD our Banner”.
16He said, “The LORD has sworn: ‘The LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.’”
