1L'Éternel dit à Moïse: "Rends toi chez Pharaon; car moi même j'ai appesanti son cœur et celui de ses serviteurs, à dessein d'opérer tous ces prodiges autour de lui
2et afin que tu racontes à ton fils, à ton petit-fils, ce que j'ai fait aux Égyptiens et les merveilles que j'ai opérées contre eux; vous reconnaîtrez ainsi que je suis l'Éternel."
3Moïse et Aaron se rendirent chez Pharaon et lui dirent "Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu des Hébreux: ‘Jusqu'à quand refuseras tu de fléchir devant moi? Laisse partir mon peuple, pour qu'il m'adore!
4Que si tu refuses de laisser partir mon peuple, je susciterai demain des sauterelles dans ton territoire.
5Elles déroberont la vue de la terre et l'on ne pourra plus apercevoir la terre; elles anéantiront le reste des ressources que vous a laissées la grêle, elles dévoreront toutes les plantes qui croissent pour vous dans les champs.
6Elles rempliront tes maisons et les maisons de tous tes serviteurs et celles de toute l'Égypte: telles n'en virent point tes aïeux, ni les pères de tes aïeux, depuis le jour où ils occupèrent le pays jusqu'à ce jour.’ " Et il se retira et sortit de devant Pharaon.
7Les serviteurs de Pharaon lui dirent: "Combien de temps celui-ci nous portera-t-il malheur? Laisse partir ces hommes, qu'ils servent l'Éternel leur Dieu: ignores-tu encore que l'Égypte est ruinée?"
8Moïse et Aaron furent rappelés auprès de Pharaon, qui leur dit: "Allez servir l'Éternel votre Dieu; quels sont ceux qui iront?"
9Moïse répondit: "Nous irons jeunes gens et vieillards; nous irons avec nos fils et nos filles, avec nos brebis et nos bœufs, car nous avons à fêter l'Éternel."
10Il leur répliqua: "Ainsi soit l'Éternel avec vous, comme je compte vous laisser partir avec vos enfants! Voyez comme vos intentions sont mauvaises!
11Non pas!... Allez, je vous prie, vous autres hommes et servez l'Éternel, puisque c'est là ce que vous désirez." Et on les chassa de devant Pharaon.
12L'Éternel dit à Moïse." Étends ta main sur le pays d'Égypte pour les sauterelles, afin qu'elles envahissent le pays d'Égypte et qu'elles dévorent tout l'herbage de la terre, tout ce qu'a épargné la grêle."
13Moïse étendit sa verge sur le pays d'Égypte; alors l'Éternel dirigea un vent d'est sur le pays tout ce jour-là, puis toute la nuit. Le matin venu, le vent d'est avait amené les sauterelles.
14Elles se répandirent, les sauterelles, par tout le pays d'Égypte et elles s'abattirent sur tout le territoire égyptien. C'était prodigieux: pareille quantité de sauterelles ne s'était pas encore vue, pareille quantité ne devait plus se voir.
15Elles dérobèrent si complètement la vue du sol, qu'il en fut obscurci; elles dévorèrent tout l'herbage de la terre: et tous les fruits d'arbre, épargnés par la grêle et il ne resta plus de verdure soit aux arbres, soit en herbe des champs, dans tout le pays d'Égypte.
16Pharaon, en toute hâte, manda Moïse et Aaron et leur dit: "J'ai péché contre l'Éternel votre Dieu et contre vous.
17Eh bien! De grâce, pardonnez ma faute, cette fois seulement et suppliez l'Éternel votre Dieu qu'il me délivre, à tout prix, de ce fléau."
18Moïse se retira de chez Pharaon et sollicita le Seigneur.
19Et le Seigneur fit tourner le vent, qui souffla de l'ouest avec une grande violence, emporta les sauterelles et les noya dans la mer des joncs: il ne resta plus une sauterelle sur tout le territoire de l'Égypte.
20Mais l'Éternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon et il ne renvoya pas les enfants d'Israël.
21L'Éternel dit à Moïse: "Dirige ta main vers le ciel et des ténèbres se répandront sur le pays d'Égypte, des ténèbres opaques."
22Moïse dirigea sa main vers le ciel, et d’épaisses ténèbres couvrirent tout le pays d’Égypte, durant trois jours.
23On ne se voyait pas l'un l'autre et nul ne se leva de sa place, durant trois jours mais tous les enfants d'Israël jouissaient de la lumière dans leurs demeures.
24Pharaon manda Moïse et dit: "Partez, adorez l'Éternel; seulement, que votre menu et votre gros bétail demeurent, mais vos enfants peuvent vous suivre."
25Moïse répondit: "Toi-même, tu nous donneras des victimes et des holocaustes pour les offrir à l'Éternel notre Dieu
26et notre bétail ne nous suivra pas moins; il n'en restera pas ici un ongle, car nous devons en prendre pour sacrifier à l'Éternel notre Dieu; or, nous ne saurons de quoi lui faire hommage que lorsque nous serons arrivés."
27Mais l'Éternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, qui ne consentit point à les laisser partir.
28Pharaon dit à Moïse: "Sors de devant moi! Garde-toi de reparaître à ma vue, car, le jour où tu verras mon visage, tu mourras!"
29Moïse repartit: " Tu as bien dit. Je ne reverrai plus ton visage."

1Y JEHOVÁ dijo á Moisés: Entra á Faraón; porque yo he agravado su corazón, y el corazón de sus siervos, para dar entre ellos estas mis señales;
2Y para que cuentes á tus hijos y á tus nietos las cosas que yo hice en Egipto, y mis señales que dí entre ellos; y para que sepáis que yo soy Jehová.
3Entonces vinieron Moisés y Aarón á Faraón, y le dijeron: Jehová, el Dios de los Hebreos, ha dicho así: ¿Hasta cuándo no querrás humillarte delante de mí? Deja ir á mi pueblo para que me sirvan.
4Y si aun rehusas dejarlo ir, he aquí que yo traeré mañana langosta en tus términos,
5La cual cubrirá la faz de la tierra, de modo que no pueda verse la tierra; y ella comerá lo que quedó salvo, lo que os ha quedado del granizo; comerá asimismo todo árbol que os produce fruto en el campo:
6Y llenarse han tus casas, y las casas de todos tus siervos, y las casas de todos los Egipcios, cual nunca vieron tus padres ni tus abuelos, desde que ellos fueron sobre la tierra hasta hoy. Y volvióse, y salió de con Faraón.
7Entonces los siervos de Faraón le dijeron: ¿Hasta cuándo nos ha de ser éste por lazo? Deja ir á estos hombres, para que sirvan á Jehová su Dios; ¿aun no sabes que Egipto está destruído?
8Y Moisés y Aarón volvieron á ser llamados á Faraón, el cual les dijo: Andad, servid á Jehová vuestro Dios. ¿Quién y quién son los que han de ir?
9Y Moisés respondió: Hemos de ir con nuestros niños y con nuestros viejos, con nuestros hijos y con nuestras hijas: con nuestras ovejas y con nuestras vacas hemos de ir; porque tenemos solemnidad de Jehová.
10Y él les dijo: Así sea Jehová con vosotros como yo os dejaré ir á vosotros y á vuestros niños: mirad como el mal está delante de vuestro rostro.
11No será así: id ahora vosotros los varones, y servid á Jehová: pues esto es lo que vosotros demandasteis. Y echáronlos de delante de Faraón.
12Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto para langosta, á fin de que suba sobre el país de Egipto, y consuma todo lo que el granizo dejó.
13Y extendió Moisés su vara sobre la tierra de Egipto, y Jehová trajo un viento oriental sobre el país todo aquel día y toda aquella noche; y á la mañana el viento oriental trajo la langosta:
14Y subió la langosta sobre toda la tierra de Egipto, y asentóse en todos los términos de Egipto, en gran manera grave: antes de ella no hubo langosta semejante, ni después de ella vendrá otra tal;
15Y cubrió la faz de todo el país, y oscurecióse la tierra; y consumió toda la hierba de la tierra, y todo el fruto de los árboles que había dejado el granizo; que no quedó cosa verde en árboles ni en hierba del campo, por toda la tierra de Egipto.
16Entonces Faraón hizo llamar apriesa á Moisés y á Aarón, y dijo: He pecado contra Jehová vuestro Dios, y contra vosotros.
17Mas ruego ahora que perdones mi pecado solamente esta vez, y que oréis á Jehová vuestro Dios que quite de mí solamente esta muerte.
18Y salió de con Faraón, y oró á Jehová.
19Y Jehová volvió un viento occidental fortísimo, y quitó la langosta, y arrojóla en el mar Bermejo: ni una langosta quedó en todo el término de Egipto.
20Mas Jehová endureció el corazón de Faraón; y no envió los hijos de Israel.
21Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo, para que haya tinieblas sobre la tierra de Egipto, tales que cualquiera las palpe.
22Y extendió Moisés su mano hacia el cielo, y hubo densas tinieblas tres días por toda la tierra de Egipto.
23Ninguno vió á su prójimo, ni nadie se levantó de su lugar en tres días; mas todos los hijos de Israel tenían luz en sus habitaciones.
24Entonces Faraón hizo llamar á Moisés, y dijo: Id, servid á Jehová; solamente queden vuestras ovejas y vuestras vacas: vayan también vuestros niños con vosotros.
25Y Moisés respondió: Tú también nos entregarás sacrificios y holocaustos que sacrifiquemos á Jehová nuestro Dios.
26Nuestros ganados irán también con nosotros; no quedará ni una uña; porque de ellos hemos de tomar para servir á Jehová nuestro Dios; y no sabemos con qué hemos de servir á Jehová, hasta que lleguemos allá.
27Mas Jehová endureció el corazón de Faraón, y no quiso dejarlos ir.
28Y díjole Faraón: Retírate de mí: guárdate que no veas más mi rostro, porque en cualquier día que vieres mi rostro, morirás.
29Y Moisés respondió: Bien has dicho; no veré más tu rostro.

1And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
2And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
3And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
4Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:
5And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
6And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
7And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
8And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?
9And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.
10And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.
11Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
12And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.
13And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
14And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
15For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
16Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.
17Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
18And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.
19And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
20But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
21And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
22And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
23They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
25And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
26Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
27But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.
28And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
29And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.
World English Bible
1The LORD said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs among them;
2and that you may tell in the hearing of your son, and of your son’s son, what things I have done to Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that you may know that I am the LORD.”
3Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.
4Or else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country,
5and they shall cover the surface of the earth, so that one won’t be able to see the earth. They shall eat the residue of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field.
6Your houses shall be filled, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.’” He turned, and went out from Pharaoh.
7Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD, their God. Don’t you yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”
8Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve the LORD your God; but who are those who will go?”
9Moses said, “We will go with our young and with our old. We will go with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds; for we must hold a feast to the LORD.”
10He said to them, “The LORD be with you if I let you go with your little ones! See, evil is clearly before your faces.
11Not so! Go now you who are men, and serve the LORD; for that is what you desire!” Then they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
12The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up on the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left.”
13Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind on the land all that day, and all night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
14The locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt. They were very grievous. Before them there were no such locusts as they, nor will there ever be again.
15For they covered the surface of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened, and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. There remained nothing green, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

17Now therefore please forgive my sin again, and pray to the LORD your God, that he may also take away from me this death.”
18Moses went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to the LORD.
19The LORD sent an exceedingly strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the borders of Egypt.
20But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go.
21The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.”
22Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.
23They didn’t see one another, and nobody rose from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, “Go, serve the LORD. Only let your flocks and your herds stay behind. Let your little ones also go with you.”
25Moses said, “You must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
26Our livestock also shall go with us. Not a hoof shall be left behind, for of it we must take to serve the LORD our God; and we don’t know with what we must serve the LORD, until we come there.”
27But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let them go.
28Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Be careful to see my face no more; for in the day you see my face you shall die!”
29Moses said, “You have spoken well. I will see your face again no more.”
