Deuteronomio 8
Biblia Torres Amat
1Haz todo lo posible por cumplir exactamente los mandamientos que hoy te ordeno, para que podáis vivir y multiplicaros, y entrar en posesión de la tierra que prometió el Señor con juramento a vuestros padres.
2Y acuérdate de todos los caminos por donde te ha conducido el Señor Dios tuyo en el desierto por espacio de cuarenta años, con el fin de atribularte y probarte, para que se descubriesen las intenciones de tu ánimo, si estabas o no en guardar sus mandamientos.
3Te afligió con hambre y te dio el maná, manjar que no conocías tú, ni tus padres, para mostrarte que el hombre no vive de solo pan, sino de cualquier cosa que Dios dispusiere.
4Hace ya cuarenta años que vas de viaje, y con todo, ni el vestido con que te cubres se ha gastado por viejo, ni tu pie se ha lastimado, ni roto tu calzado;
5para que recapacites en tu corazón, que del mismo modo que un padre corrige e instruye a su hijo, así te ha corregido e instruido a ti el Señor Dios tuyo,
6con el fin de que guardes sus mandamientos, y andes por sus caminos, y lo temas.
7Porque el Señor tu Dios va a introducirte en esa tierra buena, tierra llena de arroyos, y de estanques, y de fuentes; en cuyos campos y montes brotan manantiales perennes de aguas;
8tierra de trigo y cebada, y de viñas; en la que nacen higueras, y granados y olivos: tierra de aceite y de miel;
9donde sin escasez ninguna comerás el pan y gozarás en abundancia de todos los bienes; en cuyas piedras o peñas hallarás el hierro; y mucho cobre y metal en sus montes:
10a fin de que cuando hubieres comido y te hubieres saciado, bendigas al Señor Dios tuyo por la bonísima tierra que te dio.
11Está alerta, y guárdate de no olvidarte jamás del Señor Dios tuyo, ni de dejar de observar sus mandamientos y leyes, y ceremonias que hoy te prescribo:
12no sea que después de haber comido, y haberte saciado, y de haber fabricado bellas casas, y morado en ellas,
13y adquirido vacadas y rebaños de ovejas, y gran caudal de plata y de oro, y de todas las cosas,
14se engría tu corazón, y eches en olvido a tu Señor Dios que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de la esclavitud,
15y que ha sido tu conductor por el vasto y espantoso desierto, donde había serpientes que abrasaban con su aliento, y escorpiones y dípsades, sin que tuvieses una gota de agua: la cual te la hizo salir a chorros de una piedra durísima:
16y te alimentó en el desierto con el maná manjar desconocido de tus padres: y después de haberte afligido y probado, al fin se compadeció de ti;
17pero no antes, para que no dijeras en tu corazón: Mi fuerza y la robustez de mi brazo me granjearon todas estas cosas;
18sino para que te acuerdes del Señor Dios tuyo por haberte él mismo dado fuerzas, a fin de cumplir así su pacto que juró con tus padres, como se ve en el presente día.
19Mas si olvidado de tu Dios y Señor, te fueres en pos de dioses ajenos, y les rindieres culto y adoración, mira que desde ahora te protesto que perecerás sin remedio.
20Como las naciones que deshizo el Señor a tu entrada, del mismo modo pereceréis vosotros si fuereis desobedientes a la voz del Señor Dios vuestro.

1CUIDARÉIS de poner por obra todo mandamiento que yo os ordeno hoy, porque viváis, y seáis multiplicados, y entréis, y poseáis la tierra, de la cual juró Jehová á vuestros padres.
2Y acordarte has de todo el camino por donde te ha traído Jehová tu Dios estos cuarenta años en el desierto, para afligirte, por probarte, para saber lo que estaba en tu corazón, si habías de guardar ó no sus mandamientos.
3Y te afligió, é hízote tener hambre, y te sustentó con maná, comida que no conocías tú, ni tus padres la habían conocido; para hacerte saber que el hombre no vivirá de solo pan, mas de todo lo que sale de la boca de Jehová vivirá el hombre.
4Tu vestido nunca se envejeció sobre ti, ni el pie se te ha hinchado por estos cuarenta años.
5Reconoce asimismo en tu corazón, que como castiga el hombre á su hijo, así Jehová tu Dios te castiga.
6Guardarás, pues, los mandamientos de Jehová tu Dios, andando en sus caminos, y temiéndolo.
7Porque Jehová tu Dios te introduce en la buena tierra, tierra de arroyos, de aguas, de fuentes, de abismos que brotan por vegas y montes;
8Tierra de trigo y cebada, y de vides, é higueras, y granados; tierra de olivas, de aceite, y de miel;
9Tierra en la cual no comerás el pan con escasez, no te faltará nada en ella; tierra que sus piedras son hierro, y de sus montes cortarás metal.
10Y comerás y te hartarás, y bendecirás á Jehová tu Dios por la buena tierra que te habrá dado.
11Guárdate, que no te olvides de Jehová tu Dios, para no observar sus mandamientos, y sus derechos, y sus estatutos, que yo te ordeno hoy:
12Que quizá no comas y te hartes, y edifiques buenas casas en que mores,
13Y tus vacas y tus ovejas se aumenten, y la plata y el oro se te multiplique, y todo lo que tuvieres se te aumente,
14Y se eleve luego tu corazón, y te olvides de Jehová tu Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de casa de siervos;
15Que te hizo caminar por un desierto grande y espantoso, de serpientes ardientes, y de escorpiones, y de sed, donde ningún agua había, y él te sacó agua de la roca del pedernal;
16Que te sustentó con maná en el desierto, comida que tus padres no habían conocido, afligiéndote y probándote, para á la postre hacerte bien;
17Y digas en tu corazón: Mi poder y la fortaleza de mi mano me han traído esta riqueza.
18Antes acuérdate de Jehová tu Dios: porque él te da el poder para hacer las riquezas, á fin de confirmar su pacto que juró á tus padres, como en este día.
19Mas será, si llegares á olvidarte de Jehová tu Dios, y anduvieres en pos de dioses ajenos, y les sirvieres, y á ellos te encorvares, protéstolo hoy contra vosotros, que de cierto pereceréis.
20Como las gentes que Jehová destruirá delante de vosotros, así pereceréis; por cuanto no habréis atendido á la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios.

1All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
2And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
3And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
4Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
5Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
6Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
7For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
8A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
9A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
10When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
11Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
12Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
13And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
14Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
15Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
16Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
17And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
18But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
19And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
20As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

1You shall observe to do all the commandments which I command you today, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers.
2You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
3He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the LORD’s mouth.
4Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.
5You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
6You shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
7For the LORD your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills;
8a land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey;
9a land in which you shall eat bread without scarcity, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper.
10You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which he has given you.
11Beware lest you forget the LORD your God, in not keeping his commandments, his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today;
12lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses and lived in them;
13and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;
14then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
15who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint;
16who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;
17and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.”
18But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.
19It shall be, if you shall forget the LORD your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish.
20As the nations that the LORD makes to perish before you, so you shall perish, because you wouldn’t listen to the LORD your God’s voice.
