1Et Moïse appela tout Israël et leur dit : Ecoute, Israël, les statuts et les ordonnances que je prononce aujourd'hui à vos oreilles ; vous les apprendrez et vous prendrez garde à les mettre en pratique.
2L'Eternel notre Dieu a traité avec vous une alliance en Horeb.
3Ce n'est point avec nos pères que l'Eternel a traité cette alliance, mais c'est avec nous, qui sommes ici aujourd'hui tous vivants.
4L'Eternel vous parla face à face sur la montagne, du milieu du feu,
5je me tenais alors entre l'Eternel et vous pour vous rapporter la parole de l'Eternel, car vous aviez peur de ce feu et vous ne montâtes point sur la montagne, disant :
6Je suis l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'ai tiré de la terre d'Egypte, d'une maison de servitude.
7Tu n'auras pas d'autres dieux devant ma face.
8Tu ne te feras pas d'image taillée, aucune figure de ce qui est dans les cieux en haut ou de ce qui est sur la terre en bas, ou de ce qui est dans les eaux au-dessous de la terre.
9Tu ne te prosterneras point devant elles et tu ne les serviras point ; car je suis l'Eternel ton Dieu, un Dieu jaloux, punissant les crimes des pères sur les fils, sur la troisième et sur la quatrième génération pour ceux qui me haïssent,
10et traitant avec bonté jusqu'à mille générations ceux qui m'aiment et qui gardent mes commandements.
11Tu ne prendras pas le nom de l'Eternel ton Dieu en vain, car l'Eternel n'absoudra point celui qui prendra son nom en vain.
12Garde le jour du repos pour le sanctifier, comme l'Eternel ton Dieu te l'a commandé.
13Pendant six jours tu travailleras et tu feras tout ce que tu as à faire.
14Mais le septième jour est un sabbat consacré à l'Eternel ton Dieu ; tu ne feras aucun ouvrage, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni ton bœuf, ni ton âne, ni tout ton bétail, ni l'étranger qui est dans tes portes, afin que ton serviteur et ta servante se reposent comme toi.
15Et tu te souviendras que tu as été serviteur sur la terre d'Egypte et que l'Eternel ton Dieu t'a fait sortir de là à main forte et à bras étendu ; c'est pourquoi l'Eternel ton Dieu t'a ordonné d'observer le jour du repos.
16Honore ton père et ta mère, comme l'Eternel ton Dieu te l'a commandé, afin que tes jours soient prolongés, et afin que tu sois heureux sur la terre que l'Eternel ton Dieu te donne.
17Tu ne commettras pas de meurtre,
18et tu ne commettras pas d'adultère,
19et tu ne déroberas pas,
20et tu ne déposeras pas comme faux témoin contre ton prochain ;
21et tu ne convoiteras pas la femme de ton prochain, et tu n'envieras pas la maison de ton prochain, son champ, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, son bœuf, ni son âne, ni rien de ce qui est à ton prochain.
22Ces paroles-là, l'Eternel les prononça parlant à toute votre assemblée sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, de la nuée et de l'obscurité, d'une voix forte, et il ne dit rien de plus, et il les écrivit sur deux tables de pierre et il me les donna.
23Et il arriva que lorsque vous entendîtes la voix du milieu des ténèbres, la montagne étant toute en feu, vous vous approchâtes de moi, tous vos chefs de tribus et vos Anciens,
24et vous dites : Voici, l'Eternel notre Dieu nous a fait voir sa gloire et sa grandeur et nous avons entendu sa voix du milieu du feu ; nous avons vu aujourd'hui Dieu parler à l'homme et l'homme rester vivant.
25Et maintenant pourquoi mourrions-nous ? Car ce grand feu nous dévorera ; nous, si nous entendons encore la voix de l'Eternel notre Dieu, nous mourrons.
26Car, parmi toute chair, y a-t-il quelqu'un qui ait entendu comme nous la voix du Dieu vivant parlant du milieu du feu et qui soit demeuré vivant ?
27Toi, approche-toi et écoute tout ce que dira l'Eternel notre Dieu, et tu nous diras, toi, tout ce que l'Eternel notre Dieu t'aura dit, et nous l'entendrons et le ferons.
28Et l'Eternel entendit vos paroles tandis que vous me parliez, et l'Eternel me dit : J'ai entendu les paroles que ce peuple t'a adressées ; ils ont bien fait de dire tout ce qu'ils ont dit.
29Oh ! s'ils avaient toujours ce même cœur pour me craindre et pour observer tous mes commandements, afin qu'ils fussent heureux à jamais, eux et leurs enfants !
30Va, dis-leur : Retournez dans vos tentes.
31Et toi, reste ici avec moi, et je te dirai tous les commandements, les statuts et les ordonnances que tu leur enseigneras, afin qu'ils les mettent en pratique dans le pays que je leur donne en possession.
32Et vous aurez soin d'agir ainsi que l'Eternel votre Dieu vous l'a commandé ; vous ne vous détournerez ni à droite ni à gauche.
33Vous suivrez entièrement le chemin que vous a prescrit l'Eternel votre Dieu, afin que vous viviez et soyez heureux et que vous prolongiez vos jours dans le pays que vous posséderez.

1Y LLAMÓ Moisés á todo Israel, y díjoles: Oye, Israel, los estatutos y derechos que yo pronuncio hoy en vuestros oídos: y aprendedlos, y guardadlos, para ponerlos por obra.
2Jehová nuestro Dios hizo pacto con nosotros en Horeb.
3No con nuestros padres hizo Jehová este pacto, sino con nosotros todos los que estamos aquí hoy vivos.
4Cara á cara habló Jehová con vosotros en el monte de en medio del fuego,
5(Yo estaba entonces entre Jehová y vosotros, para denunciaros la palabra de Jehová; porque vosotros tuvisteis temor del fuego, y no subisteis al monte;) diciendo:
6Yo soy Jehová tu Dios, que te saqué de tierra de Egipto, de casa de siervos.
7No tendrás dioses extraños delante de mí.
8No harás para ti escultura, ni imagen alguna de cosa que está arriba en los cielos, ó abajo en la tierra, ó en las aguas debajo de la tierra:
9No te inclinarás á ellas ni les servirás: porque yo soy Jehová tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos, y sobre los terceros, y sobre los cuartos, á los que me aborrecen,
10Y que hago misericordia á millares á los que me aman, y guardan mis mandamientos.
11No tomarás en vano el nombre de Jehová tu Dios; porque Jehová no dará por inocente al que tomare en vano su nombre.
12Guardarás el día del reposo para santificarlo, como Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado.
13Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra:
14Mas el séptimo es reposo á Jehová tu Dios: ninguna obra harás tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu buey, ni tu asno, ni ningún animal tuyo, ni tu peregrino que está dentro de tus puertas: porque descanse tu siervo y tu sierva como tú.
15Y acuérdate que fuiste siervo en tierra de Egipto, y que Jehová tu Dios te sacó de allá con mano fuerte y brazo extendido: por lo cual Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado que guardes el día del reposo.
16Honra á tu padre y á tu madre, como Jehová tu Dios te ha mandado, para que sean prolongados tus días, y para que te vaya bien sobre la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da.
17No matarás.
18No adulterarás.
19No hurtarás.
20No dirás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.
21No codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni desearás la casa de tu prójimo, ni su tierra, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni ninguna cosa que sea de tu prójimo.
22Estas palabras habló Jehová á toda vuestra congregación en el monte, de en medio del fuego, de la nube y de la oscuridad, á gran voz: y no añadió más. Y escribiólas en dos tablas de piedra, las cuales me dió á mí.
23Y aconteció, que como vosotros oisteis la voz de en medio de las tinieblas, y visteis al monte que ardía en fuego, llegasteis á mí todos los príncipes de vuestras tribus, y vuestros ancianos;
24Y dijisteis: He aquí, Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha mostrado su gloria y su grandeza, y hemos oído su voz de en medio del fuego: hoy hemos visto que Jehová habla al hombre, y éste vive.
25Ahora pues, ¿por qué moriremos? que este gran fuego nos consumirá: si tornáremos á oir la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios, moriremos.
26Porque, ¿qué es toda carne, para que oiga la voz del Dios viviente que habla de en medio del fuego, como nosotros la oímos, y viva?
27Llega tú, y oye todas las cosas que dijere Jehová nuestro Dios; y tú nos dirás todo lo que Jehová nuestro Dios te dijere, y nosotros oiremos y haremos.
28Y oyó Jehová la voz de vuestras palabras, cuando me hablabais; y díjome Jehová: He oído la voz de las palabras de este pueblo, que ellos te han hablado: bien está todo lo que han dicho.
29¡Quién diera que tuviesen tal corazón, que me temiesen, y guardasen todos los días todos mis mandamientos, para que á ellos y á sus hijos les fuese bien para siempre!
30Ve, diles: Volveos á vuestras tiendas.
31Y tú estáte aquí conmigo, y te diré todos los mandamientos, y estatutos, y derechos, que les has de enseñar, á fin que los pongan ahora por obra en la tierra que yo les doy para poseerla.
32Mirad, pues, que hagáis como Jehová vuestro Dios os ha mandado: no os apartéis á diestra ni á siniestra;
33Andad en todo camino que Jehová vuestro Dios os ha mandado, para que viváis, y os vaya bien, y tengáis largos días en la tierra que habéis de poseer.

1And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
2The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
4The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
5(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
6I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
7Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
8Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
9Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
10And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
11Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
12Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
13Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
14But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
15And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
16Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
17Thou shalt not kill.
18Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
19Neither shalt thou steal.
20Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
21Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
22These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
23And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
24And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
25Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
26For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
27Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
28And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
29O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
30Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
31But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
32Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
33Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

1Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, “Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears today, that you may learn them, and observe to do them.”
2The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3The LORD didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today.
4The LORD spoke with you face to face on the mountain out of the middle of the fire,
5(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the LORD’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,
6“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
7“You shall have no other gods before me.
8“You shall not make a carved image for yourself—any likeness of what is in heaven above, or what is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
9You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me
10and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
11“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.
12“Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you.
13You shall labor six days, and do all your work;
14but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, in which you shall not do any work—neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.
15You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
16“Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
17“You shall not murder.
18“You shall not commit adultery.
19“You shall not steal.
20“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
21“You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”
22The LORD spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me.
23When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
24and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives.
25Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the LORD our God’s voice any more, then we shall die.
26For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?
27Go near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say, and tell us all that the LORD our God tells you; and we will hear it, and do it.”
28The LORD heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me; and the LORD said to me, “I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken.
29Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
30“Go tell them, ‘Return to your tents.’
31But as for you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess.”
32You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you. You shall not turn away to the right hand or to the left.
33You shall walk in all the way which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
