1(028:69) Das sind die Worte des Bundes, welchen Jehova im Lande Moab dem Mose geboten hat, mit den Kindern Israel zu machen, außer dem Bunde, den er am Horeb mit ihnen gemacht hatte.
2(029:1) Und Mose berief ganz Israel und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt alles gesehen, (029:2) was Jehova vor euren Augen im Lande Ägypten getan hat, an dem Pharao und an allen seinen Knechten und an seinem ganzen Lande:
3Die großen Versuchungen, welche deine Augen gesehen haben, jene großen Zeichen und Wunder.
4Aber Jehova hat euch nicht ein Herz gegeben, zu erkennen, und Augen, zu sehen, und Ohren, zu hören, bis auf diesen Tag.
5Und ich habe euch vierzig Jahre in der Wüste geführt: Eure Kleider sind nicht an euch zerfallen, und dein Schuh ist nicht abgenutzt an deinem Fuße;
6Brot habt ihr nicht gegessen, und Wein und starkes Getränk habt ihr nicht getrunken; auf daß ihr erkenntet, daß ich Jehova, euer Gott, bin.
7Und als ihr an diesen Ort kamet, da zogen Sihon, der König von Hesbon, und Og, der König von Basan, aus, uns entgegen zum Streit, und wir schlugen sie;
8und wir nahmen ihr Land ein und gaben es den Rubenitern und den Gaditern und dem halben Stamme der Manassiter zum Erbteil.
9So beobachtet denn die Worte dieses Bundes und tut sie, auf daß ihr Gelingen habet in allem, was ihr tut.
10Ihr stehet heute allesamt vor Jehova, eurem Gott: eure Häupter, eure Stämme, eure Ältesten und eure Vorsteher,
11alle Männer von Israel, eure Kinder, eure Weiber und dein Fremdling, der inmitten deiner Lager ist, von deinem Holzhauer bis zu deinem Wasserschöpfer,
12damit du in den Bund Jehovas, deines Gottes, eintretest und in seinen Eidschwur, den Jehova, dein Gott, heute mit dir macht;
13auf daß er dich heute als sein Volk bestätige, und er dein Gott sei, wie er zu dir geredet, und wie er deinen Vätern, Abraham, Isaak und Jakob, geschworen hat.
14Und nicht mit euch allein mache ich diesen Bund und diesen Eidschwur,
15sondern mit dem, der heute hier ist, der mit uns vor Jehova, unserem Gott, steht, und mit dem, der heute nicht mit uns hier ist.
16Denn ihr wisset ja, wie wir im Lande Ägypten gewohnt haben, und wie wir mitten durch die Nationen gezogen sind, durch die ihr gezogen seid;
17und ihr habt ihre Scheusale gesehen, und ihre Götzen von Holz und Stein, Silber und Gold, die bei ihnen sind,
18daß kein Mann oder Weib, oder Geschlecht oder Stamm unter euch sei, dessen Herz sich heute von Jehova, unserem Gott, abwende, um hinzugehen, den Göttern jener Nationen zu dienen; daß nicht eine Wurzel unter euch sei, die Gift und Wermut trage,
19und es geschehe, wenn er die Worte dieses Eidschwures hört, daß er sich in seinem Herzen segne und spreche: Ich werde Frieden haben, wenn ich auch in der Verstocktheit meines Herzens wandle! Damit zu Grunde gehe das Getränkte mit dem Durstigen.
20Nicht wird Jehova ihm vergeben wollen, sondern alsdann wird der Zorn Jehovas und sein Eifer rauchen wider selbigen Mann; und der ganze Fluch, der in diesem Buche geschrieben ist, wird auf ihm ruhen, und Jehova wird seinen Namen unter dem Himmel austilgen;
21und Jehova wird ihn aus allen Stämmen Israels zum Unglück aussondern, nach all den Flüchen des Bundes, der in diesem Buche des Gesetzes geschrieben ist.
22Und das künftige Geschlecht, eure Kinder, die nach euch aufkommen werden, und der Ausländer, der aus fernem Lande kommen wird, werden sagen, wenn sie die Plagen dieses Landes sehen und seine Krankheiten, womit Jehova es geschlagen hat,
23daß sein ganzes Land Schwefel und Salz, ein Brand, ist, daß es nicht besät wird und nichts sprossen läßt, und keinerlei Kraut darin aufkommt, gleich der Umkehrung von Sodom und Gomorra, Adama und Zeboim, welche Jehova umkehrte in seinem Zorn und in seinem Grimm, -
24und alle Nationen werden sagen: Warum hat Jehova diesem Lande also getan? Weshalb diese große Zornglut?
25Und man wird sagen: Darum daß sie den Bund Jehovas, des Gottes ihrer Väter, verlassen haben, den er mit ihnen gemacht hatte, als er sie aus dem Lande Ägypten herausführte,
26und hingingen und anderen Göttern dienten und sich vor ihnen niederbeugten, Göttern, die sie nicht kannten, und die er ihnen nicht zugeteilt hatte:
27da entbrannte der Zorn Jehovas über dieses Land, so daß er den ganzen Fluch über dasselbe gebracht hat, der in diesem Buche geschrieben ist;
28Und Jehova hat sie herausgerissen aus ihrem Lande im Zorn und im Grimm und in großem Unwillen, und hat sie in ein anderes Land geworfen, wie es an diesem Tage ist. -
29Das Verborgene ist Jehovas, unseres Gottes; aber das Geoffenbarte ist unser und unserer Kinder ewiglich, damit wir alle Worte dieses Gesetzes tun.

1ESTAS son las palabras del pacto que Jehová mandó á Moisés concertara con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, además del pacto que concertó con ellos en Horeb.
2Moisés pues llamó á todo Israel, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis visto todo lo que Jehová ha hecho delante de vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto á Faraón y á todos sus siervos, y á toda su tierra:
3Las pruebas grandes que vieron tus ojos, las señales, y las grandes maravillas.
4Y Jehová no os dió corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oir, hasta el día de hoy.
5Y yo os he traído cuarenta años por el desierto: vuestros vestidos no se han envejecido sobre vosotros, ni tu zapato se ha envejecido sobre tu pie.
6No habéis comido pan, ni bebisteis vino ni sidra: para que supieseis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.
7Y llegasteis á este lugar, y salió Sehón rey de Hesbón, y Og rey de Basán, delante de nosotros para pelear, y herímoslos;
8Y tomamos su tierra, y dímosla por heredad á Rubén y á Gad, y á la media tribu de Manasés.
9Guardaréis, pues, las palabras de este pacto, y las pondréis por obra, para que prosperéis en todo lo que hiciereis.
10Vosotros todos estáis hoy delante de Jehová vuestro Dios; vuestros príncipes de vuestras tribus, vuestros ancianos, y vuestros oficiales, todos los varones de Israel,
11Vuestros niños, vuestras mujeres, y tus extranjeros que habitan en medio de tu campo, desde el que corta tu leña hasta el que saca tus aguas:
12Para que entres en el pacto de Jehová tu Dios, y en su juramento, que Jehová tu Dios acuerda hoy contigo:
13Para confirmarte hoy por su pueblo, y que él te sea á ti por Dios, de la manera que él te ha dicho, y como él juró á tus padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob.
14Y no con vosotros solos acuerdo yo este pacto y este juramento,
15Sino con los que están aquí presentes hoy con nosotros delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, y con los que no están aquí hoy con nosotros.
16Porque vosotros sabéis cómo habitamos en la tierra de Egipto, y cómo hemos pasado por medio de las gentes que habéis pasado;
17Y habéis visto sus abominaciones, y sus ídolos, madera y piedra, plata y oro, que tienen consigo.
18Quizá habrá entre vosotros varón, ó mujer, ó familia, ó tribu, cuyo corazón se vuelva hoy de con Jehová nuestro Dios, por andar á servir á los dioses de aquellas gentes; quizá habrá en vosotros raíz que eche veneno y ajenjo;
19Y sea que, cuando el tal oyere las palabras de esta maldición, él se bendiga en su corazón, diciendo: Tendré paz, aunque ande según el pensamiento de mi corazón, para añadir la embriaguez á la sed:
20Jehová no querrá perdonarle; antes humeará luego el furor de Jehová y su celo sobre el tal hombre, y asentaráse sobre él toda maldición escrita en este libro, y Jehová raerá su nombre de debajo del cielo:
21Y apartarálo Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para mal, conforme á todas las maldiciones del pacto escrito en este libro de la ley.
22Y dirá la generación venidera, vuestros hijos que vendrán después de vosotros, y el extranjero que vendrá de lejanas tierras, cuando vieren las plagas de aquesta tierra, y sus enfermedades de que Jehová la hizo enfermar,
23(Azufre y sal, abrasada toda su tierra: no será sembrada, ni producirá, ni crecerá en ella hierba ninguna, como en la subversión de Sodoma y de Gomorra, de Adma y de Seboim, que Jehová subvirtió en su furor y en su ira:)
24Dirán, pues, todas las gentes: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová esto á esta tierra? ¿qué ira es ésta de tan gran furor?
25Y responderán: Por cuanto dejaron el pacto de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, que él concertó con ellos cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto,
26Y fueron y sirvieron á dioses ajenos, é inclináronse á ellos, dioses que no conocían, y que ninguna cosa les habían dado:
27Encendióse por tanto, el furor de Jehová contra esta tierra, para traer sobre ella todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro;
28Y Jehová los desarraigó de su tierra con enojo, y con saña, y con furor grande, y los echó á otra tierra, como hoy.
29Las cosas secretas pertenecen á Jehová nuestro Dios: mas las reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos por siempre, para que cumplamos todas las palabras de esta ley.

1These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
2And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
3The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
4Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
5And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
6Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
7And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
8And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.
9Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
10Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
11Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
12That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:
13That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
15But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
16(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
17And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
18Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
19And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
20The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
21And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
22So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
23And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
24Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
25Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
26For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
27And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
28And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
29The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

4But the LORD has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.
5I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not grown old on you, and your sandals have not grown old on your feet.
6You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.

13that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14Neither do I make this covenant and this oath with you only,
15but with those who stand here with us today before the LORD our God, and also with those who are not here with us today
16(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the middle of the nations through which you passed;
17and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which were among them);
18lest there should be among you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that produces bitter poison;
19and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,” to destroy the moist with the dry.
20The LORD will not pardon him, but then the LORD’s anger and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book will fall on him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under the sky.
21The LORD will set him apart for evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law.
22The generation to come—your children who will rise up after you, and the foreigner who will come from a far land—will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which the LORD has made it sick,
23that all of its land is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, doesn’t produce, nor does any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.
24Even all the nations will say, “Why has the LORD done this to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”
25Then men will say, “Because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,
26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know and that he had not given to them.
27Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book.
28The LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”
