ESTAS son las palabras que habló Moisés á todo Israel de esta parte del Jordán en el desierto, en el llano delante del mar Bermejo, entre Parán, y Thopel, y Labán, y Haseroth, y Dizahab.
These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

En el año cuadragésimo de la salida de Egipto, en el mes undécimo, el primer día del mes, anunció Moisés a los hijos de Israel todo lo que le mandó el Señor que les dijera.
Y fué, que á los cuarenta años, en el mes undécimo, al primero del mes, Moisés habló á los hijos de Israel conforme á todas las cosas que Jehová le había mandado acerca de ellos;

a la otra parte del Jordán, en el país de Moab, Moisés comenzó a explicarles la ley del Señor, y a decirles:

Dios nuestro Señor nos habló en Horeb, diciendo: Bastante tiempo habéis permanecido junto a este monte;

dad la vuelta y marchad a las montañas de los amorreos y demás lugares vecinos, extendiéndoos por los llanos, y por los montes y valles que yacen al mediodía, y a la costa del mar Mediterráneo , por la tierra más septentrional de los cananeos y del Líbano, hasta el gran río Eufrates.
Volveos, partíos é id al monte del Amorrheo, y á todas sus comarcas, en el llano, en el monte, y en los valles, y al mediodía, y á la costa de la mar, á la tierra del Cananeo, y el Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Eufrates.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

Mirad, dijo, que os la tengo dada: entrad y tomad posesión de la tierra, acerca de la cual juró el Señor a vuestros padres Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob , que se le daría a ellos, y después de ellos a su descendencia.

En aquel mismo tiempo os dije:
Y yo os hablé entonces, diciendo: Yo no puedo llevaros solo:
And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone.
No puedo yo solo gobernaros: porque el Señor Dios vuestro os ha multiplicado, y en el día de hoy sois en grandísimo número como las estrellas del cielo.
Jehová vuestro Dios os ha multiplicado, y he aquí sois hoy vosotros como las estrellas del cielo en multitud.
The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

(El Señor, Dios de vuestros padres, añada aún a este número muchos millares, y os llene de bendiciones como lo tiene dicho).
¡Jehová Dios de vuestros padres añada sobre vosotros como sois mil veces, y os bendiga, como os ha prometido!

Yo no puedo solo llevar el peso de vuestros negocios y pleitos.
¿Cómo llevaré yo solo vuestras molestias, vuestras cargas, y vuestros pleitos?
How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

Escoged de entre vosotros varones y sabios experimentados, de una conducta bien acreditada en vuestras tribus, para que os los ponga por caudillos y jueces.
Dadme de entre vosotros, de vuestras tribus, varones sabios y entendidos y expertos, para que yo los ponga por vuestros jefes.
Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
Take wise men of understanding who are respected among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”
Entonces me respondisteis: Acertada cosa es la que quieres hacer.
Y me respondisteis, y dijisteis: Bueno es hacer lo que has dicho.
And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

Y así tomé de vuestras tribus varones inteligentes y esclarecidos, y los constituí por príncipes vuestros, por tribunos y centuriones, y cabos de cincuenta y de diez hombres, que os instruyesen en cada cosa.
Y tomé los principales de vuestras tribus, varones sabios y expertos, y púselos por jefes sobre vosotros, jefes de millares, y jefes de cientos, y jefes de cincuenta, y cabos de diez, y gobernadores á vuestras tribus.
So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

Y les mandé diciendo: Oídlos y haced justicia: ora sean ciudadanos, ora extranjeros.
Y entonces mandé á vuestros jueces, diciendo: Oid entre vuestros hermanos, y juzgad justamente entre el hombre y su hermano, y el que le es extranjero.
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

Ninguna distinción haréis de personas: del mismo modo oiréis al pequeño que al grande: ni guardaréis miramiento a nadie, pues que vosotros sois jueces en lugar de Dios. Mas si alguna cosa difícil os ocurriere, dadme parte a mí, y yo determinaré.
No tengáis respeto de personas en el juicio: así al pequeño como al grande oiréis: no tendréis temor de ninguno, porque el juicio es de Dios: y la causa que os fuere difícil, la traeréis á mí, y yo la oiré.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”
En suma os ordené todo cuanto debíais hacer.
Os mandé, pues, en aquel tiempo todo lo que habíais de hacer.

Al fin, habiendo partido de Horeb, pasamos por aquel grande y espantoso desierto que visteis camino de la montaña del amorreo, como Dios nuestro Señor nos había mandado; y estando ya en Cadesbarne,
Y partidos de Horeb, anduvimos todo aquel grande y terrible desierto que habéis visto, por el camino del monte del Amorrheo, como Jehová nuestro Dios nos lo mandó; y llegamos hasta Cades-barnea.
And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

os dije: Habéis llegado a la montaña del amorreo, de la cual nos ha de dar nuestro Señor la posesión.

And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.
I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which the LORD our God gives to us.
Mira, ¡oh Israel! la tierra que te da tu Señor Dios: sube y ocúpala como Dios nuestro Señor lo prometió a tus padres; no tienes que temer ni alarmarte por nada.
Mira, Jehová tu Dios ha dado delante de ti la tierra: sube y poséela, como Jehová el Dios de tus padres te ha dicho; no temas ni desmayes.
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
Behold, the LORD your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the LORD the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”
Y acudisteis a mí todos, y dijisteis: Enviemos personas que reconozcan la tierra, y nos informen por qué camino debemos subir, y a cuáles ciudades encaminarnos.
Y llegasteis á mí todos vosotros, y dijisteis: Enviemos varones delante de nosotros, que nos reconozcan la tierra y nos traigan de vuelta razón del camino por donde hemos de subir, y de las ciudades adonde hemos de llegar.
And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”
Habiéndome parecido bien el pensamiento, despaché doce hombres de entre vosotros, uno de cada tribu.
Y el dicho me pareció bien: y tomé doce varones de vosotros, un varón por tribu:
And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
The thing pleased me well. I took twelve of your men, one man for every tribe.
Los cuales puestos en camino, habiendo atravesado las montañas llegaron hasta el valle del Racimo; y reconocida la tierra,

cogiendo de sus frutos para muestra de fertilidad, nos los trajeron y dijeron: Buena es la tierra que el Señor Dios nuestro nos ha de dar.

Mas vosotros no quisisteis subir; antes bien, incrédulos a la palabra de Dios nuestro Señor,
Empero no quisisteis subir, antes fuisteis rebeldes al dicho de Jehová vuestro Dios;
Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God.
murmurasteis en vuestras tiendas y dijisteis: El Señor nos aborrece, y por eso nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en manos del amorreo y acabar con nosotros.
Y murmurasteis en vuestras tiendas, diciendo: Porque Jehová nos aborrecía, nos ha sacado de tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en mano del Amorrheo para destruirnos.
And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

¿A dónde iremos? Los mensajeros nos han aterrado, diciendo: Es mucho el gentío que hay en el país y de más alta estatura que nosotros, las ciudades son grandes, y fortificadas con muros que llegan hasta el cielo, y allí hemos visto a los hijos de los enaceos o gigantes.
¿A dónde subimos? Nuestros hermanos han hecho desfallecer nuestro corazón, diciendo: Este pueblo es mayor y más alto que nosotros, las ciudades grandes y muradas hasta el cielo; y también vimos allí hijos de gigantes.
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to the sky. Moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there!’”

El Señor Dios, el cual es vuestro conductor, él mismo peleará por vosotros, como lo hizo en Egipto a vista de todos.
Jehová vuestro Dios, el cual va delante de vosotros, él peleará por vosotros, conforme á todas las cosas que hizo por vosotros en Egipto delante de vuestros ojos;
The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

Y en el desierto (tú mismo, ¡oh Israel! lo has visto), el Señor tu Dios te ha traído en brazos por todo el camino que habéis andado hasta llegar a este lugar, a la manera que suele un hombre traer a su hijo chiquito.
Y en el desierto has visto que Jehová tu Dios te ha traído, como trae el hombre á su hijo, por todo el camino que habéis andado, hasta que habéis venido á este lugar.
And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
and in the wilderness where you have seen how that the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”
Pero ni aún así creísteis al Señor vuestro Dios,
Y aun con esto no creisteis en Jehová vuestro Dios,
Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
Yet in this thing you didn’t believe the LORD your God,
el cual ha ido él mismo delante de vosotros todo el viaje, y ha demarcado los sitios en que debíais plantar las tiendas, enseñándoos el camino de noche con la columna de fuego, y de día con la de nube.
El cual iba delante de vosotros por el camino, para reconoceros el lugar donde habíais de asentar el campo, con fuego de noche para mostraros el camino por donde anduvieseis, y con nube de día.
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

Y cuando el Señor oyó el rumor de vuestras quejas, indignado, juró y dijo:

Ninguno de los hombres de esta pésima generación verá la excelente tierra que tengo prometida con juramento a sus padres;
No verá hombre alguno de estos de esta mala generación, la buena tierra que juré había de dar á vuestros padres,
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,
Excepto Caleb, hijo de Jefone; ése la verá; y a ése le daré la tierra que pisó, y a sus hijos; porque ha seguido al Señor.
Excepto Caleb hijo de Jephone: él la verá, y á él le daré la tierra que pisó, y á sus hijos; porque cumplió en pos de Jehová.

Ni es de maravillar ésta su indignación contra el pueblo; visto que aun contra mí, enojado el Señor por causa vuestra, dijo: Ni tampoco tú entrarás en esa tierra.
Y también contra mí se airó Jehová por vosotros, diciendo: Tampoco tú entrarás allá:

Vuestros pequeñuelos, de quienes dijisteis que serían llevados cautivos, vuestros niños que hoy no saben discernir el bien del mal, esos son los que entrarán; y a ellos daré yo la tierra, y la poseerán.
Y vuestros chiquitos, de los cuales dijisteis serán por presa, y vuestros hijos que no saben hoy bueno ni malo, ellos entrarán allá, y á ellos la daré, y ellos la heredarán.

Mas vosotros volveos atrás, y marchad al desierto por el camino que va al mar Rojo.

Entonces me respondisteis: Hemos pecado contra el Señor; subiremos a esa tierra, y pelearemos conforme ha ordenado el Señor Dios nuestro. Y como armados os encaminaseis hacia el monte,
Entonces respondisteis y me dijisteis: Pecado hemos contra Jehová; nosotros subiremos y pelearemos, conforme á todo lo que Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha mandado. Y os armasteis cada uno de sus armas de guerra, y os apercibisteis para subir al monte.
Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.
me dijo el Señor: Adviérteles que no vayan, ni peleen; porque yo no estoy con ellos: no sea que queden postrados a los pies de sus enemigos.
Y Jehová me dijo: Diles: No subáis, ni peleéis, pues no estoy entre vosotros; porque no seáis heridos delante de vuestros enemigos.
And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
The LORD said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not among you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”
Os lo dije, y no hicisteis caso; sino que oponiéndoos al mandamiento del Señor, e hinchados de soberbia subisteis al monte.
Y os hablé, y no disteis oído; antes fuisteis rebeldes al dicho de Jehová, y persistiendo con altivez, subisteis al monte.
So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.
Entonces habiendo salido a vuestro encuentro el amorreo, que habitaba en las montañas, os persiguió, como suelen perseguir las abejas al que las inquieta; y os fue acuchillando desde Seir hasta Horma.
Y salió el Amorrheo, que habitaba en aquel monte, á vuestro encuentro, y os persiguieron, como hacen las avispas, y os derrotaron en Seir, persiguiéndoos hasta Horma.
And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.
Y por más que llorasteis a la vuelta en presencia del Señor, no quiso escucharos ni condescender con vuestros ruegos.
Y volvisteis, y llorasteis delante de Jehová; pero Jehová no escuchó vuestra voz, ni os prestó oído.
And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
You returned and wept before the LORD, but the LORD didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.
Por eso estuvisteis de asiento por mucho tiempo en Cadesbarne.
Y estuvisteis en Cades por muchos días, como en los días que habéis estado.
So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.
