Deuteronomio 19

1Wenn Jehovah, dein Gott, die Völkerschaften, deren Land Jehovah, dein Gott, dir geben wird, ausrottet, und du sie austreibst und in ihren Städten und in ihren Häusern wohnst,
2Sollst du dir inmitten deines Landes, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir gibt es einzunehmen, drei Städte ausscheiden.
3Mache dir den Weg bereit und teile die Grenze deines Landes, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir zum Erbe austeilt, in drei Teile, so daß jeder Totschläger dahin fliehen kann.
4Und das soll die Sache sein mit dem Totschläger, der dahin fliehen darf, damit er lebe: Wer seinen Genossen erschlägt unwissentlich und ohne daß er ihn haßte von gestern und ehegestern;
5Und wer mit seinem Genossen in den Wald hineingeht, um Holz zu hauen, und seine Hand holt aus mit der Axt, den Baum abzuhauen, und das Eisen fährt ab vom Holz und trifft seinen Genossen, daß er stirbt, der fliehe in eine dieser Städte, auf daß er lebe;
6Auf daß nicht der Bluträcher dem Totschläger nachsetze, da sein Herz erhitzt ist und ihn erreiche, wenn ihm der Weg zu viel ist, und schlage ihn am Leben, so doch kein Gericht des Todes an ihm ist, weil er keinen Haß gegen ihn hatte von gestern und ehegestern.
7Darum gebiete ich dir und spreche: Drei Städte sollst du dir ausscheiden.
8Und wenn Jehovah, dein Gott, deine Grenze erweitert, wie Er deinen Vätern geschworen und dir all das Land gibt, das Er deinen Vätern zu geben geredet hat;
9So du hältst all dieses Gebot, es zu tun, das ich dir heute gebiete, daß du Jehovah, deinen Gott, liebst und in Seinen Wegen wandelst alle Tage; so sollst du dir zu diesen dreien noch drei Städte hinzutun.
10Auf daß nicht unschuldig Blut vergossen werde inmitten deines Landes, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir zum Erbe gibt, und Blut auf dir sei.
11Wenn aber ein Mann einen Haß hat wider seinen Genossen und liegt im Hinterhalt gegen ihn und macht sich über ihn auf und schlägt ihn am Leben, daß er stirbt und flieht in eine dieser Städte;
12So sollen die Ältesten seiner Stadt senden und ihn von dannen nehmen, und ihn geben in des Bluträchers Hand, daß er sterbe.
13Dein Auge schone seiner nicht, auf daß du wegschaffst das Blut des Unschuldigen aus Israel und es gut mit diesem sei.
14Du sollst nicht verrücken deines Nächsten Grenze, welche die Vorfahren abgegrenzt haben auf deinem Erbe, das du erbst in dem Lande, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir zum Erbbesitze gibt.
15Nicht soll ein einzelner Zeuge aufstehen wider einen Mann ob irgendeiner Missetat und irgendeiner Sünde, über irgendeine Sünde, womit man sündigt. Durch den Mund zweier Zeugen oder den Mund dreier Zeugen soll ein Wort bestätigt werden.
16So ein Zeuge der Gewalttat aufsteht wider einen Mann, um wider ihn wegen eines Abfalls zu bezeugen,
17So sollen die beiden Männer, die einen Rechtshandel haben, vor Jehovah stehen, vor die Priester und die Richter, die in selbigen Tagen sein werden.
18Und die Richter sollen wohl untersuchen. Und siehe, ist der Zeuge ein lügenhafter Zeuge und hat Lügen geantwortet wider seinen Bruder,
19So sollt ihr ihm tun, wie er sann, seinem Bruder zu tun, und du sollst wegschaffen das Böse aus deiner Mitte.
20Auf daß die Übrigbleibenden es hören und sich fürchten und solches Böse nicht weiter tun in deiner Mitte.
21Und dein Auge schone nicht. Seele um Seele, Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß.

1CUANDO Jehová tu Dios talare las gentes, cuya tierra Jehová tu Dios te da á ti, y tú las heredares, y habitares en sus ciudades, y en sus casas;
2Te apartarás tres ciudades en medio de tu tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da para que la poseas.
3Arreglarte has el camino, y dividirás en tres partes el término de tu tierra, que Jehová tu Dios te dará en heredad, y será para que todo homicida se huya allí.
4Y este es el caso del homicida que ha de huir allí, y vivirá: el que hiriere á su prójimo por yerro, que no le tenía enemistad desde ayer ni antes de ayer:
5Como el que fué con su prójimo al monte á cortar leña, y poniendo fuerza con su mano en el hacha para cortar algún leño, saltó el hierro del cabo, y encontró á su prójimo, y murió; aquél huirá á una de aquestas ciudades, y vivirá;
6No sea que el pariente del muerto vaya tras el homicida, cuando se enardeciere su corazón, y le alcance por ser largo el camino, y le hiera de muerte, no debiendo ser condenado á muerte; por cuanto no tenía enemistad desde ayer ni antes de ayer con el muerto.
7Por tanto yo te mando, diciendo: Tres ciudades te apartarás.
8Y si Jehová tu Dios ensanchare tu término, como lo juró á tus padres, y te diere toda la tierra que dijo á tus padres que había de dar;
9Cuando guardases todos estos mandamientos, que yo te prescribo hoy, para ponerlos por obra, que ames á Jehová tu Dios y andes en sus caminos todos los días; entonces añadirás tres ciudades á más de estas tres;
10Porque no sea derramada sangre inocente en medio de tu tierra, que Jehová tu Dios te da por heredad, y sea sobre ti sangre.
11Mas cuando hubiere alguno que aborreciere á su prójimo, y lo acechare, y se levantare sobre él, y lo hiriere de muerte, y muriere, y huyere á alguna de estas ciudades;
12Entonces los ancianos de su ciudad enviarán y lo sacarán de allí, y entregarlo han en mano del pariente del muerto, y morirá.
13No le perdonará tu ojo: y quitarás de Israel la sangre inocente, y te irá bien.
14No reducirás el término de tu prójimo, el cual señalaron los antiguos en tu heredad, la que poseyeres en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da para que la poseas.
15No valdrá un testigo contra ninguno en cualquier delito, ó en cualquier pecado, en cualquier pecado que se cometiere. En el dicho de dos testigos, ó en el dicho de tres testigos consistirá el negocio.
16Cuando se levantare testigo falso contra alguno, para testificar contra él rebelión,
17Entonces los dos hombres litigantes se presentarán delante de Jehová, delante de los sacerdotes y jueces que fueren en aquellos días:
18Y los jueces inquirirán bien, y si pareciere ser aquél testigo falso, que testificó falsamente contra su hermano,
19Haréis á él como él pensó hacer á su hermano: y quitarás el mal de en medio de ti.
20Y los que quedaren oirán, y temerán, y no volverán más á hacer una mala cosa como ésta, en medio de ti.
21Y no perdonará tu ojo: vida por vida, ojo por ojo, diente por diente, mano por mano, pie por pie.

1When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
2Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
3Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
4And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;
5As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
6Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
7Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
8And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
9If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
10That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:
12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
16If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
17Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
18And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
19Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
20And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
21And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
World English Bible
1When the LORD your God cuts off the nations whose land the LORD your God gives you, and you succeed them and dwell in their cities and in their houses,
2you shall set apart three cities for yourselves in the middle of your land, which the LORD your God gives you to possess.
3You shall prepare the way, and divide the borders of your land which the LORD your God causes you to inherit into three parts, that every man slayer may flee there.
4This is the case of the man slayer who shall flee there and live: Whoever kills his neighbor unintentionally, and didn’t hate him in time past—
5as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood and his hand swings the ax to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle and hits his neighbor so that he dies—he shall flee to one of these cities and live.
6Otherwise, the avenger of blood might pursue the man slayer while hot anger is in his heart and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally, even though he was not worthy of death, because he didn’t hate him in time past.
7Therefore I command you to set apart three cities for yourselves.
8If the LORD your God enlarges your border, as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;
9and if you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to walk ever in his ways, then you shall add three cities more for yourselves, in addition to these three.
10This is so that innocent blood will not be shed in the middle of your land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance, leaving blood guilt on you.
11But if any man hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises up against him, strikes him mortally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities;
12then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall purge the innocent blood from Israel that it may go well with you.
14You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have set, in your inheritance which you shall inherit, in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess.
15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.
16If an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing,
17then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;
18and the judges shall make diligent inquisition; and behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother,
19then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother. So you shall remove the evil from among you.
20Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and will never again commit any such evil among you.
21Your eyes shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
