Deuteronomio 11

1Ama dunque l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, e osserva sempre quel che ti dice d’osservare, le sue leggi, le sue prescrizioni e i suoi comandamenti.
2E riconoscete oggi (poiché non parlo ai vostri figliuoli che non hanno conosciuto né hanno veduto le lezioni dell’Eterno, del vostro Dio), riconoscete la sua grandezza, la sua mano potente, il suo braccio steso,
3i suoi miracoli, le opere che fece in mezzo all’Egitto contro Faraone, re d’Egitto, e contro il suo paese;
4e quel che fece all’esercito d’Egitto, ai suoi cavalli e ai suoi carri, come fece rifluir su loro le acque del mar Rosso quand’essi v’inseguivano, e come li distrusse per sempre;
5e quel che ha fatto per voi nel deserto, fino al vostro arrivo in questo luogo;
6e quel che fece a Dathan e ad Abiram, figliuoli di Eliab, figliuolo di Ruben; come la terra spalancò la sua bocca e li inghiottì con le loro famiglie, le loro tende e tutti quelli ch’erano al loro séguito, in mezzo a tutto Israele.
7Poiché gli occhi vostri hanno veduto le grandi cose che l’Eterno ha fatte.
8Osservate dunque tutti i comandamenti che oggi vi do, affinché siate forti e possiate entrare in possesso del paese nel quale state per entrare per impadronirvene,
9e affinché prolunghiate i vostri giorni sul suolo che l’Eterno giurò di dare ai vostri padri e alla loro progenie: terra ove scorre il latte e il miele.
10Poiché il paese del quale state per entrare in possesso non è come il paese d’Egitto donde siete usciti, e nel quale gettavi la tua semenza e poi lo annaffiavi coi piedi, come si fa d’un orto;
11ma il paese di cui andate a prendere possesso è paese di monti e di valli, che beve l’acqua della pioggia che vien dal cielo:
12paese del quale l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ha cura, e sul quale stanno del continuo gli occhi dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, dal principio dell’anno sino alla fine.
13E se ubbidirete diligentemente ai miei comandamenti che oggi vi do, amando il vostro Dio, l’Eterno, e servendogli con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l’anima vostra,
14avverrà ch’io darò al vostro paese la pioggia a suo tempo: la pioggia d’autunno e di primavera, perché tu possa raccogliere il tuo grano, il tuo vino e il tuo olio;
15e farò pure crescere dell’erba ne’ tuoi campi per il tuo bestiame, e tu mangerai e sarai saziato.
16Vegliate su voi stessi onde il vostro cuore non sia sedotto e voi lasciate la retta via e serviate a dèi stranieri e vi prostriate dinanzi a loro,
17e si accenda contro di voi l’ira dell’Eterno, ed egli chiuda i cieli in guisa che non vi sia più pioggia, e la terra non dia più i suoi prodotti, e voi periate ben presto, scomparendo dal buon paese che l’Eterno vi dà.
18Vi metterete dunque nel cuore e nell’anima queste mie parole; ve le legherete alla mano come un segnale e vi saranno come frontali tra gli occhi;
19le insegnerete ai vostri figliuoli, parlandone quando te ne starai seduto in casa tua, quando sarai per viaggio, quando ti coricherai e quando ti alzerai;
20e le scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle tue porte,
21affinché i vostri giorni e i giorni de’ vostri figliuoli, nel paese che l’Eterno giurò ai vostri padri di dar loro, siano numerosi come i giorni de’ cieli al disopra della terra.
22Poiché, se osservate diligentemente tutti questi comandamenti che vi do, e li mettete in pratica, amando l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, camminando in tutte le sue vie e tenendovi stretti a lui,
23l’Eterno caccerà d’innanzi a voi tutte quelle nazioni, e voi v’impadronirete di nazioni più grandi e più potenti di voi.
24Ogni luogo che la pianta del vostro piede calcherà, sarà vostro; i vostri confini si estenderanno dal deserto al Libano, dal fiume, il fiume Eufrate, al mare occidentale.
25Nessuno vi potrà stare a fronte; l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, come vi ha detto, spanderà la paura e il terrore di voi per tutto il paese dove camminerete.
26Guardate, io pongo oggi dinanzi a voi la benedizione e la maledizione:
27la benedizione, se ubbidite ai comandamenti dell’Eterno, del vostro Dio, i quali oggi vi do;
28la maledizione, se non ubbidite ai comandamenti dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio vostro, e se vi allontanate dalla via che oggi vi prescrivo, per andar dietro a dèi stranieri che voi non avete mai conosciuti.
29E quando l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, t’avrà introdotto nel paese nel quale vai per prenderne possesso, tu pronunzierai la benedizione sul monte Gherizim, e la maledizione sul monte Ebal.
30Questi monti non sono essi di là dal Giordano, dietro la via di ponente, nel paese dei Cananei che abitano nella pianura dirimpetto a Ghilgal presso la querce di Moreh?
31Poiché voi state per passare il Giordano per andare a prender possesso del paese, che l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro, vi da; voi lo possederete e vi abiterete.
32Abbiate dunque cura di mettere in pratica tutte le leggi e le prescrizioni, che oggi io pongo dinanzi a voi.

1AMARÁS pues á Jehová tu Dios, y guardarás su ordenanza, y sus estatutos y sus derechos y sus mandamientos, todos los días.
2Y comprended hoy: porque no hablo con vuestros hijos que no han sabido ni visto el castigo de Jehová vuestro Dios, su grandeza, su mano fuerte, y su brazo extendido,
3Y sus señales, y sus obras que hizo en medio de Egipto á Faraón, rey de Egipto, y á toda su tierra;
4Y lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, á sus caballos, y á sus carros; cómo hizo ondear las aguas del mar Bermejo sobre ellos, cuando venían tras vosotros, y Jehová los destruyó hasta hoy;
5Y lo que ha hecho con vosotros en el desierto, hasta que habéis llegado á este lugar;
6Y lo que hizo con Dathán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab hijo de Rubén; cómo abrió la tierra su boca, y tragóse á ellos y á sus casas, y sus tiendas, y toda la hacienda que tenían en pie en medio de todo Israel:
7Mas vuestros ojos han visto todos los grandes hechos que Jehová ha ejecutado.
8Guardad, pues, todos los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, para que seáis esforzados, y entréis y poseáis la tierra, á la cual pasáis para poseerla;
9Y para que os sean prolongados los días sobre la tierra, que juró Jehová á vuestros padres había de dar á ellos y á su simiente, tierra que fluye leche y miel.
10Que la tierra á la cual entras para poseerla, no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde habéis salido, donde sembrabas tu simiente, y regabas con tu pie, como huerto de hortaliza.
11La tierra á la cual pasáis para poseerla, es tierra de montes y de vegas; de la lluvia del cielo ha de beber las aguas;
12Tierra de la cual Jehová tu Dios cuida: siempre están sobre ella los ojos de Jehová tu Dios, desde el principio del año hasta el fin de él.
13Y será que, si obedeciereis cuidadosamente mis mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, amando á Jehová vuestro Dios, y sirviéndolo con todo vuestro corazón, y con toda vuestra alma,
14Yo daré la lluvia de vuestra tierra en su tiempo, la temprana y la tardía; y cogerás tu grano, y tu vino, y tu aceite.
15Daré también hierba en tu campo para tus bestias; y comerás, y te hartarás.
16Guardaos, pues, que vuestro corazón no se infatúe, y os apartéis, y sirváis á dioses ajenos, y os inclinéis á ellos;
17Y así se encienda el furor de Jehová sobre vosotros, y cierre los cielos, y no haya lluvia, ni la tierra dé su fruto, y perezcáis presto de la buena tierra que os da Jehová.
18Por tanto, pondréis estas mis palabras en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma, y las ataréis por señal en vuestra mano, y serán por frontales entre vuestros ojos.
19Y las enseñaréis á vuestros hijos, hablando de ellas, ora sentado en tu casa, ó andando por el camino, cuando te acuestes, y cuando te levantes:
20Y las escribirás en los postes de tu casa, y en tus portadas:
21Para que sean aumentados vuestros días, y los días de vuestros hijos, sobre la tierra que juró Jehová á vuestros padres que les había de dar, como los días de los cielos sobre la tierra.
22Porque si guardareis cuidadosamente todos estos mandamientos que yo os prescribo, para que los cumpláis; como améis á Jehová vuestro Dios andando en todos sus caminos, y á él os allegareis,
23Jehová también echará todas estas gentes de delante de vosotros y poseeréis gentes grandes y más fuertes que vosotros.
24Todo lugar que pisare la planta de vuestro pie, será vuestro: desde el desierto y el Líbano, desde el río, el río Eufrates, hasta la mar postrera será vuestro término.
25Nadie se sostendrá delante de vosotros: miedo y temor de vosotros pondrá Jehová vuestro Dios sobre la haz de toda la tierra que hollareis, como él os ha dicho.
26He aquí yo pongo hoy delante de vosotros la bendición y la maldición:
27La bendición, si oyereis los mandamientos de Jehová vuestro Dios, que yo os prescribo hoy;
28Y la maldición, si no oyereis los mandamientos de Jehová vuestro Dios, y os apartareis del camino que yo os ordeno hoy, para ir en pos de dioses ajenos que no habéis conocido.
29Y será que, cuando Jehová tu Dios te introdujere en la tierra á la cual vas para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Gerizim, y la maldición sobre el monte Ebal:
30Los cuales están de la otra parte del Jordán, tras el camino del occidente en la tierra del Cananeo, que habita en la campiña delante de Gilgal, junto á los llanos de Moreh.
31Porque vosotros pasáis el Jordán, para ir á poseer la tierra que os da Jehová vuestro Dios; y la poseeréis, y habitaréis en ella.
32Cuidaréis, pues, de poner por obra todos los estatutos y derechos que yo presento hoy delante de vosotros.

1Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
2And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
3And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
4And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;
5And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
6And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
7But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
8Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
9And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
11But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
13And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17And then the LORD’s wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
18Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
19And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
22For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
23Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
24Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
25There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
26Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
29And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
30Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
31For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
32And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.

1Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his instructions, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments, always.
2Know this day—for I don’t speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm,
3his signs, and his works, which he did in the middle of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;
4and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued you, and how the LORD has destroyed them to this day;
5and what he did to you in the wilderness until you came to this place;
6and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben—how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households, their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the middle of all Israel;
7but your eyes have seen all of the LORD’s great work which he did.

10For the land, where you go in to possess isn’t like the land of Egypt that you came out of, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;
11but the land that you go over to possess is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water from the rain of the sky,
12a land which the LORD your God cares for. The LORD your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.
13It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14that I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.
15I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.
16Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn away to serve other gods and worship them;
17and the LORD’s anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky so that there is no rain, and the land doesn’t yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you.
18Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.
19You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
20You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates;
21that your days and your children’s days may be multiplied in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
22For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you—to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him—
23then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.
24Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the western sea shall be your border.
25No man will be able to stand before you. The LORD your God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you tread on, as he has spoken to you.
26Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
27the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today;
28and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn away out of the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.
29It shall happen, when the LORD your God brings you into the land that you go to possess, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30Aren’t they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah near Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
31For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it.
32You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you today.
