La première année de Belschatsar, roi de Babylone, Daniel eut un songe et des visions se présentèrent à son esprit pendant qu'il était sur son lit. Ensuite, il mit le songe par écrit et en raconta l'essentiel.

EN el primer año de Belsasar rey de Babilonia, vió Daniel un sueño y visiones de su cabeza en su cama: luego escribió el sueño, y notó la suma de los negocios.

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

Daniel raconta : « Je regardais pendant ma vision nocturne, et voici, les quatre vents du ciel firent irruption sur la grande mer.

Habló Daniel y dijo: Veía yo en mi visión de noche, y he aquí que los cuatro vientos del cielo combatían en la gran mar.

Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

Quatre grands animaux montèrent de la mer, différents les uns des autres.

Y cuatro bestias grandes, diferentes la una de la otra, subían de la mar.

And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

« Le premier ressemblait à un lion, et avait des ailes d'aigle. Je regardais, jusqu'au moment où ses ailes furent arrachées ; il fut soulevé de terre et dressé sur ses deux pieds comme un homme, et un cœur d'homme lui fut donné.

La primera era como león, y tenía alas de águila. Yo estaba mirando hasta tanto que sus alas fueron arrancadas, y fué quitada de la tierra; y púsose enhiesta sobre los pies á manera de hombre, y fuéle dado corazón de hombre.

The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

« Voici, il y avait un autre animal, un second, semblable à un ours. Il se tenait dressé sur un côté, et il avait trois côtes dans la gueule, entre les dents. On lui disait : “Lève-toi, dévore beaucoup de chair !”

Y he aquí otra segunda bestia, semejante á un oso, la cual se puso al un lado, y tenía en su boca tres costillas entre sus dientes; y fuéle dicho así: Levántate, traga carne mucha.

And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

“Behold, there was another animal, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. They said this to it: ‘Arise! Devour much flesh!’

« Après cela je regardais, et voici, un autre, semblable à un léopard, qui avait sur le dos quatre ailes d'oiseau. L'animal avait aussi quatre têtes, et la domination lui fut donnée.

Después de esto yo miraba, y he aquí otra, semejante á un tigre, y tenía cuatro alas de ave en sus espaldas: tenía también esta bestia cuatro cabezas; y fuéle dada potestad.

After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

« Après cela, je regardais dans les visions nocturnes, et voici, il y avait un quatrième animal, effrayant, redoutable et exceptionnellement fort. Il avait de grandes dents de fer. Il dévorait, brisait en morceaux, et foulait aux pieds ce qui restait. Il était différent de tous les animaux qui l'avaient précédé. Il avait dix cornes.

Después de esto miraba yo en las visiones de la noche, y he aquí la cuarta bestia, espantosa y terrible, y en grande manera fuerte; la cual tenía unos dientes grandes de hierro: devoraba y desmenuzaba, y las sobras hollaba con sus pies: y era muy diferente de todas las bestias que habían sido antes de ella, y tenía diez cuernos.

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

“After this I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there was a fourth animal, awesome, powerful, and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth. It devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet. It was different from all the animals that were before it. It had ten horns.

« Je considérais les cornes, et voici, une autre petite corne s'éleva au milieu d'elles, et trois des premières cornes furent arrachées à la racine devant elle. Et voici, cette corne avait des yeux comme des yeux d'homme, et une bouche qui parlait avec arrogance.

Estando yo contemplando los cuernos, he aquí que otro cuerno pequeño subía entre ellos, y delante de él fueron arrancados tres cuernos de los primeros; y he aquí, en este cuerno había ojos como ojos de hombre, y una boca que hablaba grandezas.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

« Je regardais, jusqu'au moment où des trônes furent placés, et où un Ancien des jours s'assit. Son vêtement était blanc comme la neige, et les cheveux de sa tête comme de la laine pure. Son trône était de flammes de feu, et ses roues d'un feu ardent.

Estuve mirando hasta que fueron puestas sillas: y un Anciano de grande edad se sentó, cuyo vestido era blanco como la nieve, y el pelo de su cabeza como lana limpia; su silla llama de fuego, sus ruedas fuego ardiente.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

“I watched until thrones were placed, and one who was Ancient of Days sat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool. His throne was fiery flames, and its wheels burning fire.

Un fleuve de feu jaillissait et s'écoulait devant lui. Mille milliers le servaient, et dix mille fois dix mille se tenaient en sa présence. Le tribunal prit place. Les livres furent ouverts.

Un río de fuego procedía y salía de delante de él: millares de millares le servían, y millones de millones asistían delante de él: el Juez se sentó, y los libros se abrieron.

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

« Je regardais alors, à cause du bruit des paroles arrogantes que prononçait la corne. Je regardais jusqu'au moment où l'animal fut tué, son corps détruit et livré au feu pour être brûlé.

Yo entonces miraba á causa de la voz de las grandes palabras que hablaba el cuerno; miraba hasta tanto que mataron la bestia, y su cuerpo fué deshecho, y entregado para ser quemado en el fuego.

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

“I watched at that time because of the voice of the arrogant words which the horn spoke. I watched even until the animal was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.

Quant au reste des animaux, leur domination leur fut retirée ; cependant, une prolongation de vie leur fut accordée pour un temps et une période déterminée.

Habían también quitado á las otras bestias su señorío, y les había sido dada prolongación de vida hasta cierto tiempo.

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

« Je regardais dans les visions nocturnes, et voici, sur les nuées du ciel arriva quelqu'un qui ressemblait à un fils de l'homme. Il s'avança jusqu'à l'Ancien des jours, et on le fit approcher de lui.

Miraba yo en la visión de la noche, y he aquí en las nubes del cielo como un hijo de hombre que venía, y llegó hasta el Anciano de grande edad, é hiciéronle llegar delante de él.

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

On lui donna la domination, la gloire et un royaume, afin que tous les peuples, les nations et les hommes de toutes langues le servent. Sa domination est une domination éternelle qui ne passera pas, et son royaume ne sera jamais détruit.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

« Moi, Daniel, j'eus l'esprit angoissé au-dedans de moi, et les visions de mon esprit me troublèrent.

Mi espíritu fué turbado, yo Daniel, en medio de mi cuerpo, y las visiones de mi cabeza me asombraron.

I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

“As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Je m'approchai de l'un de ceux qui se tenaient là, et je lui demandai la vérité sur tout cela. « Il me répondit et m'en fit connaître l'interprétation :

Lleguéme á uno de los que asistían, y preguntéle la verdad acerca de todo esto. Y hablóme, y declaróme la interpretación de las cosas.

I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

“Ces grands animaux, qui sont au nombre de quatre, ce sont quatre rois qui s'élèveront de la terre.

Estas grandes bestias, las cuales son cuatro, cuatro reyes son, que se levantarán en la tierra.

These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

‘These great animals, which are four, are four kings, who will arise out of the earth.

Mais les saints du Très-Haut recevront le royaume, et ils posséderont le royaume pour toujours, d'éternité en éternité.”

Después tomarán el reino los santos del Altísimo, y poseerán el reino hasta el siglo, y hasta el siglo de los siglos.

But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

« Ensuite, je désirai connaître la vérité sur le quatrième animal, qui était différent de tous les autres, extrêmement terrible, dont les dents étaient de fer et les griffes de bronze ; qui dévorait, brisait en morceaux, et foulait aux pieds ce qui restait ;

Entonces tuve deseo de saber la verdad acerca de la cuarta bestia, que tan diferente era de todas las otras, espantosa en gran manera, que tenía dientes de hierro, y sus uñas de metal, que devoraba y desmenuzaba, y las sobras hollaba con sus pies:

Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

“Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth animal, which was different from all of them, exceedingly terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of bronze; which devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet;

et sur les dix cornes qui étaient sur sa tête, et sur l'autre corne qui s'était élevée et devant laquelle trois étaient tombées, cette corne qui avait des yeux et une bouche parlant avec arrogance, et dont l'apparence était plus imposante que celle des autres.

Asimismo acerca de los diez cuernos que tenía en su cabeza, y del otro que había subido, de delante del cual habían caído tres: y este mismo cuerno tenía ojos, y boca que hablaba grandezas, y su parecer mayor que el de sus compañeros.

And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

Dijo así: La cuarta bestia será un cuarto reino en la tierra, el cual será más grande que todos los otros reinos, y á toda la tierra devorará, y la hollará, y la despedazará.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

“So he said, ‘The fourth animal will be a fourth kingdom on earth, which will be different from all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will tread it down and break it in pieces.

Quant aux dix cornes, ce sont dix rois qui s'élèveront de ce royaume. Un autre s'élèvera après eux ; il sera différent des premiers, et il abaissera trois rois.

Y los diez cuernos significan que de aquel reino se levantarán diez reyes; y tras ellos se levantará otro, el cual será mayor que los primeros, y á tres reyes derribará.

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

As for the ten horns, ten kings will arise out of this kingdom. Another will arise after them; and he will be different from the former, and he will put down three kings.

Il prononcera des paroles contre le Très-Haut, il opprimera les saints du Très-Haut, et il entreprendra de changer les temps et la loi ; et les saints seront livrés entre ses mains pendant un temps, des temps, et la moitié d'un temps.

Y hablará palabras contra el Altísimo, y á los santos del Altísimo quebrantará, y pensará en mudar los tiempos y la ley: y entregados serán en su mano hasta tiempo, y tiempos, y el medio de un tiempo.

“Puis le tribunal prendra place, et on lui retirera sa domination, pour la détruire et l'anéantir définitivement.

Empero se sentará el juez, y quitaránle su señorío, para que sea destruído y arruinado hasta el extremo;

But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

Le royaume, la domination, et la grandeur de tous les royaumes sous le ciel tout entier, seront donnés au peuple des saints du Très-Haut. Son royaume est un royaume éternel, et toutes les dominations le serviront et lui obéiront.”

Y que el reino, y el señorío, y la majestad de los reinos debajo de todo el cielo, sea dado al pueblo de los santos del Altísimo; cuyo reino es reino eterno, y todos los señoríos le servirán y obedecerán.

And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

« Ici prend fin le récit. Quant à moi, Daniel, mes pensées me troublèrent grandement, et mon visage changea de couleur ; mais je gardai ces choses dans mon cœur. »

Hasta aquí fué el fin de la plática. Yo Daniel, mucho me turbaron mis pensamientos, y mi rostro se me mudó: mas guardé en mi corazón el negocio.

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

“Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face was changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.”
