1DARIUS fand für gut, über das Reich 120 Satrapen zu setzen, die im ganzen Reiche verteilt sein sollten,
2über diese aber drei Oberbeamte, deren einer Daniel war, damit jene Satrapen ihnen Rechenschaft ablegten und der König nicht zu Schaden käme.
3Da tat sich dieser Daniel vor allen Oberbeamten und Satrapen hervor, weil ein ausserordentlicher Geist in ihm war, sodass ihn der König über das ganze Reich zu setzen gedachte.
4Daher suchten die Oberbeamten und Satrapen an Daniel einen Vorwand zur Anklage in Sachen der Staatsgeschäfte zu finden, aber sie konnten an ihm keinen Vorwand noch irgend etwas Schlechtes ausfindig machen; denn er war treu, und es war an ihm keine Nachlässigkeit noch irgend etwas Schlechtes zu entdecken.
5Da sprachen jene Männer: Wir werden an diesem Daniel keinen Vorwand zur Anklage finden, es sei denn, wir finden etwas wider ihn in seiner Religion.
6Darauf stürmten diese Oberbeamten und Satrapen zum König und sprachen also zu ihm: König Darius, mögest du ewiglich leben!
7Alle Oberbeamten des Reichs, die Vorsteher und Satrapen, die Staatsräte und Statthalter sind miteinander schlüssig geworden, dass der König ein Gesetz erlassen und ein Verbot aufstellen möge, wonach ein jeder, der innert dreissig Tagen von irgendeinem Gott oder Menschen etwas erbittet ausser von dir, o König, in die Löwengrube geworfen werden soll.
8So wollest du nun, o König, das Verbot aufstellen und eine Schrift aufsetzen lassen, die nach dem unwiderruflichen Gesetz der Meder und Perser nicht aufgehoben werden darf. (a) Es 1:19
9Daraufhin liess der König Darius die Schrift mit dem Verbot aufsetzen.
10Als Daniel vernahm, dass die Schrift verfasst sei, ging er in sein Haus, wo er in seinem Obergemach Fenster hatte, die nach Jerusalem hin offenstanden, und er kniete dreimal des Tages nieder, betete und lobpries seinen Gott, wie er zuvor getan hatte. (a) 1Kön 8:48; Ps 55:18
11Da stürmten jene Männer herein und fanden Daniel im Gebet und Flehen vor seinem Gott.
12Darnach traten sie vor den König und sprachen: O König, hast du nicht ein Verbot erlassen, wonach ein jeder, der innert dreissig Tagen von irgendeinem Gott oder Menschen etwas erbittet ausser von dir, o König, in die Löwengrube geworfen werden soll? Der König antwortete und sprach: Die Sache steht fest nach dem unwiderruflichen Gesetz der Meder und Perser.
13Da hoben sie an und sprachen vor dem König: Jener Daniel, der zu den verbannten Judäern gehört, achtet deiner nicht, o König, noch des Verbotes, das du erlassen hast; dreimal des Tages verrichtet er sein Gebet.
14Als der König das hörte, ward er sehr betrübt und sann darauf, Daniel zu erretten, und bis zum Sonnenuntergang war er bemüht, ihn am Leben zu erhalten.
15Da stürmten jene Männer wieder zum König herein und sprachen zu ihm: Bedenke, o König, es ist Gesetz der Meder und Perser, dass jedes Verbot oder Gebot, das der König erlässt, unwiderruflich ist.
16Nun gab der König Befehl, und man holte Daniel und warf ihn in die Löwengrube. Und der König hob an und sprach zu Daniel: Dein Gott, dem du ohne Unterlass dienst, er errette dich!
17Dann wurde ein Stein herbeigebracht und über die Öffnung der Grube gelegt, und der König versiegelte ihn mit seinem Ring und mit den Ringen seiner Grossen, damit in betreff Daniels nichts geändert würde.
18Darnach ging der König in seinen Palast und verbrachte die Nacht unter Fasten; auch liess er keine Frauen zu sich hereinbringen, und es floh ihn der Schlaf.
19Am Morgen in der Frühe sodann, sobald der Tag anbrach, stand der König auf und ging eilends zu der Löwengrube.
20Und als er sich der Grube näherte, rief er Daniel mit schmerzlicher Stimme zu: Daniel, du Knecht des lebendigen Gottes! Hat dich dein Gott, dem du ohne Unterlass dienst, vor den Löwen zu erretten vermocht?
21Da sprach Daniel zum König: O König, mögest du ewiglich leben!
22Mein Gott hat seinen Engel gesandt, und der hat den Löwen den Rachen verschlossen, sodass sie mir kein Leid antaten, weil ich vor ihm unschuldig erfunden ward; und auch dir gegenüber, o König, habe ich nichts Unrechtes getan. (a) Da 3:28
23Da war der König hocherfreut, und er befahl, Daniel aus der Grube heraufzuziehen, und Daniel wurde aus der Grube heraufgezogen, und es war keinerlei Verletzung an ihm zu finden, weil er seinem Gott vertraut hatte.
24Dann gab der König Befehl, und man holte jene Männer, die Daniel verleumdet hatten, herbei und warf sie samt ihren Kindern und Frauen in die Löwengrube, und noch ehe sie auf den Boden der Grube gekommen waren, hatten sich die Löwen schon ihrer bemächtigt und ihnen alle Gebeine zermalmt.
25Darauf schrieb der König Darius an die Völker aller Nationen und Zungen, die auf der ganzen Erde wohnten: Heil euch in Fülle! (a) Da 3:31
26Hiermit erlasse ich den Befehl, dass man im ganzen Gebiet meines Reiches vor dem Gott Daniels erzittere und sich fürchte. Denn er ist der lebendige Gott, und er bleibt in Ewigkeit; sein Reich ist unzerstörbar, und seine Herrschaft nimmt kein Ende. (a) Da 2:44
27Er errettet und er befreit, er tut Zeichen und Wunder am Himmel und auf Erden, er, der Daniel aus der Gewalt der Löwen errettet hat! -
28Und diesem Daniel erging es wohl unter der Regierung des Darius und unter der Regierung des Persers Cyrus.

1PARECIÓ bien á Darío constituir sobre el reino ciento veinte gobernadores, que estuviesen en todo el reino.
2Y sobre ellos tres presidentes, de los cuales Daniel era el uno, á quienes estos gobernadores diesen cuenta, porque el rey no recibiese daño.
3Pero el mismo Daniel era superior á estos gobernadores y presidentes, porque había en él más abundancia de espíritu: y el rey pensaba de ponerlo sobre todo el reino.
4Entonces los presidentes y gobernadores buscaban ocasiones contra Daniel por parte del reino; mas no podían hallar alguna ocasión ó falta, porque él era fiel, y ningún vicio ni falta fué en él hallado.
5Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna, si no la hallamos contra él en la ley de su Dios.
6Entonces estos gobernadores y presidentes se juntaron delante del rey, y le dijeron así: Rey Darío, para siempre vive:
7Todos los presidentes del reino, magistrados, gobernadores, grandes, y capitanes, han acordado por consejo promulgar un real edicto, y confirmarlo, que cualquiera que demandare petición de cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, sino de ti, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones.
8Ahora, oh rey, confirma el edicto, y firma la escritura, para que no se pueda mudar, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se revoca.
9Firmó pues el rey Darío la escritura y el edicto.
10Y Daniel, cuando supo que la escritura estaba firmada, entróse en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que estaban hacia Jerusalem, hincábase de rodillas tres veces al día, y oraba, y confesaba delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.
11Entonces se juntaron aquellos hombres, y hallaron á Daniel orando y rogando delante de su Dios.
12Llegáronse luego, y hablaron delante del rey acerca del edicto real: ¿No has confirmado edicto que cualquiera que pidiere á cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, excepto á ti, oh rey, fuese echado en el foso de los leones? Respondió el rey y dijo: Verdad es, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se abroga.
13Entonces respondieron y dijeron delante del rey: Daniel que es de los hijos de la cautividad de los Judíos, no ha hecho cuenta de ti, oh rey, ni del edicto que confirmaste; antes tres veces al día hace su petición.
14El rey entonces, oyendo el negocio, pesóle en gran manera, y sobre Daniel puso cuidado para librarlo; y hasta puestas del sol trabajó para librarle.
15Empero aquellos hombres se reunieron cerca del rey, y dijeron al rey: Sepas, oh rey, que es ley de Media y de Persia, que ningún decreto ú ordenanza que el rey confirmare pueda mudarse.
16Entonces el rey mandó, y trajeron á Daniel, y echáronle en el foso de los leones. Y hablando el rey dijo á Daniel: El Dios tuyo, á quien tú continuamente sirves, él te libre.
17Y fué traída una piedra, y puesta sobre la puerta del foso, la cual selló el rey con su anillo, y con el anillo de sus príncipes, porque el acuerdo acerca de Daniel no se mudase.
18Fuése luego el rey á su palacio, y acostóse ayuno; ni instrumentos de música fueron traídos delante de él, y se le fué el sueño.
19El rey, por tanto, se levantó muy de mañana, y fué apriesa al foso de los leones:
20Y llegándose cerca del foso llamó á voces á Daniel con voz triste: y hablando el rey dijo á Daniel: Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, el Dios tuyo, á quien tú continuamente sirves ¿te ha podido librar de los leones?
21Entonces habló Daniel con el rey: oh rey, para siempre vive.
22El Dios mío envió su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen mal: porque delante de él se halló en mí justicia: y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho lo que no debiese.
23Entonces se alegró el rey en gran manera á causa de él, y mandó sacar á Daniel del foso: y fué Daniel sacado del foso, y ninguna lesión se halló en él, porque creyó en su Dios.
24Y mandándolo el rey fueron traídos aquellos hombres que habían acusado á Daniel, y fueron echados en el foso de los leones, ellos, sus hijos, y sus mujeres; y aun no habían llegado al suelo del foso, cuando los leones se apoderaron de ellos, y quebrantaron todos sus huesos.
25Entonces el rey Darío escribió á todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, que habitan en toda la tierra: Paz os sea multiplicada:
26De parte mía es puesta ordenanza, que en todo el señorío de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen de la presencia del Dios de Daniel: porque él es el Dios viviente y permanente por todos los siglos, y su reino tal que no será deshecho, y su señorío hasta el fin.
27Que salva y libra, y hace señales y maravillas en el cielo y en la tierra; el cual libró á Daniel del poder de los leones.
28Y este Daniel fué prosperado durante el reinado de Darío, y durante el reinado de Ciro, Persa.

1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
12Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
15Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
24And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
25Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
26I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred twenty local governors, who should be throughout the whole kingdom;
2and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one, that these local governors might give account to them, and that the king should suffer no loss.
3Then this Daniel was distinguished above the presidents and the local governors, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4Then the presidents and the local governors sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion or fault, because he was faithful. There wasn’t any error or fault found in him.
5Then these men said, “We won’t find any occasion against this Daniel, unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”
6Then these presidents and local governors assembled together to the king, and said this to him, “King Darius, live forever!
7All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the local governors, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a strong decree, that whoever asks a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

13Then they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, doesn’t respect you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”
14Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored until the going down of the sun to rescue him.
15Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.”
16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”
17A stone was brought, and laid on the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.
18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting. No musical instruments were brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.
19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste to the den of lions.
20When he came near to the den to Daniel, he cried with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?”
21Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!
22My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me, because innocence was found in me before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
23Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
24The king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions mauled them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they came to the bottom of the den.
25Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages who dwell in all the earth: “Peace be multiplied to you.
26“I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God, and steadfast forever. His kingdom is that which will not be destroyed. His dominion will be even to the end.
27He delivers and rescues. He works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.”
28So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
