Plugo a Darío constituir sobre el reino ciento veinte sátrapas, repartidos por todo el reino;
PARECIÓ bien á Darío constituir sobre el reino ciento veinte gobernadores, que estuviesen en todo el reino.

y sobre ellos tres presidentes, uno de los cuales era Daniel. A estos (tres) los sátrapas tenían que dar cuenta, para que no fuese perjudicado el rey.

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Aquellos hombres se dijeron: “No encontraremos contra este Daniel ningún pretexto a menos de hallar contra él algo en lo tocante a la ley de su Dios.”
Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna, si no la hallamos contra él en la ley de su Dios.
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

Entonces aquellos presidentes y sátrapas llegaron alborotados al rey y le dijeron así: “Rey Darío, ¡vive para siempre!

Todos los presidentes del reino, los gobernadores y los sátrapas, los consejeros y los magistrados han resuelto que se promulgue un edicto real y se decrete una prohibición, según la cual todo hombre que por espacio de treinta días dirigiere una petición a cualquier dios u hombre, fuera de ti, oh rey, debe ser arrojado en el foso de los leones.
Todos los presidentes del reino, magistrados, gobernadores, grandes, y capitanes, han acordado por consejo promulgar un real edicto, y confirmarlo, que cualquiera que demandare petición de cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, sino de ti, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones.

Cuando Daniel supo que había sido firmado el edicto, se retiró a su casa, donde abiertas las ventanas de su cámara alta, que miraban hacia Jerusalén, hincaba tres veces al día las rodillas, y oraba y alababa a Dios, como solía hacerlo antes.
Y Daniel, cuando supo que la escritura estaba firmada, entróse en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que estaban hacia Jerusalem, hincábase de rodillas tres veces al día, y oraba, y confesaba delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.

Luego se llegaron al rey, y le hablaron acerca de la prohibición real (diciendo): “¿No firmaste tú una prohibición según la cual todo hombre que por espacio de treinta días dirigiere una petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de ti, oh rey, debe ser echado en el foso de los leones?” Respondió el rey, y dijo: “Así es, conforme a la ley de los medos y persas, que es irrevocable.”
Llegáronse luego, y hablaron delante del rey acerca del edicto real: ¿No has confirmado edicto que cualquiera que pidiere á cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, excepto á ti, oh rey, fuese echado en el foso de los leones? Respondió el rey y dijo: Verdad es, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se abroga.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Entonces respondieron ellos y dijeron ante el rey: “Daniel, uno de los hijos de la cautividad de Judá, no hace caso de ti, oh rey, ni de la prohibición que tú firmaste, sino que tres veces al día hace su oración.”
Entonces respondieron y dijeron delante del rey: Daniel que es de los hijos de la cautividad de los Judíos, no ha hecho cuenta de ti, oh rey, ni del edicto que confirmaste; antes tres veces al día hace su petición.
Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

Al oír esto quedó el rey sumamente contristado y se propuso salvar a Daniel; y hasta ponerse el sol hizo esfuerzos por librarle.
El rey entonces, oyendo el negocio, pesóle en gran manera, y sobre Daniel puso cuidado para librarlo; y hasta puestas del sol trabajó para librarle.
Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Entonces el rey mandó, y trajeron á Daniel, y echáronle en el foso de los leones. Y hablando el rey dijo á Daniel: El Dios tuyo, á quien tú continuamente sirves, él te libre.

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

Entonces Daniel dijo al rey: “¡Oh rey, vive para siempre!

El Dios mío envió su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen mal: porque delante de él se halló en mí justicia: y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho lo que no debiese.

Entonces el rey se alegró en gran manera, y mandó sacaran a Daniel del foso. Y sacado que fue, no se halló en él lesión alguna, porque había confiado en su Dios.

Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

De parte mía es puesta ordenanza, que en todo el señorío de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen de la presencia del Dios de Daniel: porque él es el Dios viviente y permanente por todos los siglos, y su reino tal que no será deshecho, y su señorío hasta el fin.
