Il re Baltassar fece un gran convito a mille de' suoi grandi, e ognuno bevea secondo la sua età:

EL rey Belsasar hizo un gran banquete á mil de sus príncipes, y en presencia de los mil bebía vino.

Ed essendo egli già zuppo di vino, ordinò, che fosser portati i vasi d'oro, e d'argento, i quali il padre suo Nabuchodonosor avea portati via dal tempio, che fu in Gerusalemme, affinchè ad essi bevessero il re, e i suoi grandi, e le sue mogli, e le concubine.

Belsasar, con el gusto del vino, mandó que trajesen los vasos de oro y de plata que Nabucodonosor su padre había traído del templo de Jerusalem; para que bebiesen con ellos el rey y sus príncipes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas.

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

E furon portati i vasi di oro, e d'argento portati via dal tempio, che era stato in Gerusalemme, e bevvero ad essi il re, e i suoi cortigiani, e le sue mogli, e le sue concubine.

Entonces fueron traídos los vasos de oro que habían traído del templo de la casa de Dios que estaba en Jerusalem, y bebieron con ellos el rey y sus príncipes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

Beveano il vino, e celebravano gli dei loro d'oro, d'argento, di bronzo, di ferro, di legno, e di pietra.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

Nello stesso punto apparvero delle dita come di mano di uomo, che scrivea dirimpetto al candelabro sulla superficie della muraglia della sala reale: e il re stava osservando le dita della mano, che scriveva.

En aquella misma hora salieron unos dedos de mano de hombre, y escribían delante del candelero sobre lo encalado de la pared del palacio real, y el rey veía la palma de la mano que escribía.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

Allora il re cangiossi in faccia di colore, e i suoi pensieri lo conturbavano, e se gli stemperavano i reni, e le sue ginocchia si battevano l'uno coll'altro.

Entonces el rey se demudó de su color, y sus pensamientos lo turbaron, y desatáronse las ceñiduras de sus lomos, y sus rodillas se batían la una con la otra.

Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Then the king’s face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and his knees struck one against another.

E il re fortemente sclamò, che facessero venire i maghi, e i Caldei, e gli aruspici. E il re prese a dire ai sapienti di Babilonia: Chiunque leggerà questa scrittura, e mi renderà inteso del suo significato, sarà rivestito di porpora, e avrà una collana d'oro al suo collo, e sarà la terza persona del mio regno.

El rey clamó en alta voz que hiciesen venir magos, Caldeos, y adivinos. Habló el rey, y dijo á los sabios de Babilonia: Cualquiera que leyere esta escritura, y me mostrare su declaración, será vestido de púrpura, y tendrá collar de oro á su cuello; y en el reino se enseñoreará el tercero.

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and shows me its interpretation shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Allora andarono tutti i sapienti del re, e non poterono né leggere la scrittura, né dirne al re il significato.

Entonces fueron introducidos todos los sabios del rey, y no pudieron leer la escritura, ni mostrar al rey su declaración.

Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

Per la qual cosa il re Baltassar ne restò conturbato altamente, e sfigurato in volto, ed anche i suoi cortigiani erano conturbati.

Entonces el rey Belsasar fué muy turbado, y se le mudaron sus colores y alteráronse sus príncipes.

Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

Ma la regina a motivo di quello, che era avvenuto al re, e a' suoi cortigiani, entrò nella sala del convito, e presa la parola disse: Vivi in eterno, o re: non ti conturbino i tuoi pensieri, né si alteri la tua faccia.

La reina, por las palabras del rey y de sus príncipes, entró á la sala del banquete. Y habló la reina, y dijo: Rey, para siempre vive, no te asombren tus pensamientos, ni tus colores se demuden:

Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

The queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house. The queen spoke and said, “O king, live forever; don’t let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.

Nel tuo regno havvi un uomo, il quale ha in se lo spirito de' santi dei: e a tempo del padre tuo fu in lui riconosciuto sapere, e saggezza: imperocché lo stesso re Nabuchodonosor padre tuo lo costituì principe de' maghi, degli incantatori, de' Caldei, e degli aruspici, il padre tuo, io dico, o re.

En tu reino hay un varón, en el cual mora el espíritu de los dioses santos; y en los días de tu padre se halló en él luz é inteligencia y sabiduría, como ciencia de los dioses: al cual el rey Nabucodonosor, tu padre, el rey tu padre constituyó príncipe sobre todos los magos, astrólogos, Caldeos, y adivinos:

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him. The king, Nebuchadnezzar, your father—yes, the king, your father—made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers,

Perchè fu scoperto in lui uno spirito superiore, e intelligenza nell'esporre i sogni, nell'investigare gli arcani, e nello scioglimento di cose intrigate, voglio dir in Daniele, cui il ridiede il nome di Baltassar: chiamisi adunque ora Daniele, ed ei darà l'interpretazione.

Por cuanto fué hallado en él mayor espíritu, y ciencia, y entendimiento, interpretando sueños, y declarando preguntas, y deshaciendo dudas, es á saber, en Daniel; al cual el rey puso por nombre Beltsasar. Llámese pues ahora á Daniel, y él mostrará la declaración.

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Fu pertanto condotto Daniele dinanzi al re: e il re prese a dirgli: Se' tu quel Daniele de' figliuoli esuli di Giuda, condotto dal re padre mio dalla Giudea?

Entonces Daniel fué traído delante del rey. Y habló el rey, y dijo á Daniel: ¿Eres tú aquel Daniel de los hijos de la cautividad de Judá, que mi padre trajo de Judea?

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?

Ho sentito dire di te, che tu hai lo spirito degli dei, e che scienza, e intelligenza, e sapienza si trovino in te in grado superiore.

Yo he oído de ti que el espíritu de los dioses santos está en ti, y que en ti se halló luz, y entendimiento y mayor sabiduría.

I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you and that light, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.

Ed ora sono venuti davanti a me i sapienti, e imaghi per leggere questa scrittura, e spiegarmene il significato, e non hanno potuto dirmi di senso queste parole.

Y ahora fueron traídos delante de mí, sabios, astrólogos, que leyesen esta escritura, y me mostrasen su interpretación: pero no han podido mostrar la declaración del negocio.

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

Or io ho sentito dire di te, che tu puoi interpretare le cose oscure, e sciogliere le intralciate: Se adunque tu puoi leggere la scrittura, e darmene la spiegazione, sarai rivestito di porpora, e avrai una collana d'oro al tuo collo, e sarai la terza persona del mio regno.

Yo pues he oído de ti que puedes declarar las dudas, y desatar dificultades. Si ahora pudieres leer esta escritura, y mostrarme su interpretación, serás vestido de púrpura, y collar de oro tendrás en tu cuello, y en el reino serás el tercer señor.

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Alle quali cose Daniele rispose, e disse al re: I doni tuoi ti restino a te, e dà ad altri gli onori della tua reggia: ma io ti leggerò, o re, la scrittura, a te ne darò l'interpretazione.

Entonces Daniel respondió, y dijo delante del rey: Tus dones sean para ti, y tus presentes dalos á otro. La escritura yo la leeré al rey, y le mostraré la declaración.

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Then Daniel answered before the king, “Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

O re, l'Altissimo Dio diede a Nabuchodonosor padre tuo il regno, la magnificenza, la gloria, e l'onore.

El altísimo Dios, oh rey, dió á Nabucodonosor tu padre el reino, y la grandeza, y la gloria, y la honra:

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

“To you, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.

E per la grandezza, che egli aveva a lui dato, lo temevano, e tremavan dinanzi a lui tutti i popoli, le tribù, e le lingue: egli uccideva chi gli pareva, e gastigava que', che voleva, e que', che voleva, esaltava, e umiliava quei, che voleva.

Y por la grandeza que le dió, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, temblaban y temían delante de él. Los que él quería mataba, y daba vida á los que quería: engrandecía á los que quería, y á los que quería humillaba.

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.

Ma quando il cuore di lui si elevò, e lo spirito di lui si ostinò nella superbia, fu egli deposto dal trono del suo regno, e torta gli fu la sua gloria.

Mas cuando su corazón se ensoberbeció, y su espíritu se endureció en altivez, fué depuesto del trono de su reino, y traspasaron de él la gloria:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

E fu cacciato dal commercio degli uomini, e di più ebbe cuor simile a bestia, e converso cogli asini salvatichi: e fieno ancor mangiava qual bue, e di rugiada del cielo fu bagnato il suo corpo, sino a tanto che conoscesse, che l'Altissimo ha dominio sul regno degli uomini, e ad esso innalza chiunque a lui pare.

Y fué echado de entre los hijos de los hombres; y su corazón fué puesto con las bestias, y con los asnos monteses fué su morada. Hierba le hicieron comer, como á buey, y su cuerpo fué bañado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que conoció que el altísimo Dios se enseñorea del reino de los hombres, y que pondrá sobre él al que quisiere.

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

Tu pure, o Baltassarre suo figliuolo, non hai umiliato il cuor tuo, mentre queste cose tutte sapevi:

Y tú, su hijo Belsasar, no has humillado tu corazón, sabiendo todo esto:

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

“You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

Ma contro il Dominatore del cielo ti se' innalzato e hai fatto portare dinanzi a te i vasi del tempio di lui, e ad essi hai bevuto il vino tu, e i tuoi cortigiani, e le tue mogli, e le tue concubine; ed hai ancor celebrati gli dei d'argento, e d'oro, e di ferro, e di legno, e di pietra, i quali né veggono, né odono, né hanno senso: ma quel Dio, in mano di cui è il tuo respiro, e ogni tuo moto, non lo hai tu glorificato:

Antes contra el Señor del cielo te has ensoberbecido, é hiciste traer delante de ti los vasos de su casa, y tú y tus príncipes, tus mujeres y tus concubinas, bebisteis vino en ellos: demás de esto, á dioses de plata y de oro, de metal, de hierro, de madera, y de piedra, que ni ven, ni oyen, ni saben, diste alabanza: y al Dios en cuya mano está tu vida, y cuyos son todos tus caminos, nunca honraste.

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.

Per questo da lui fu mandato il dito di quella mano, la quale ha scritto quello, che è vergato.

Entonces de su presencia fué enviada la palma de la mano que esculpió esta escritura.

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.

Or tale è la scrittura distesa: MANE, THECEL, PHARES.

Y la escritura que esculpió es: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

“This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’

E queste parole s'interpretano così: MANE: Dio ha contato i dì del tuo regno, e gli ha posto termine.

La declaración del negocio es: MENE: Contó Dios tu reino, y halo rematado.

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

“This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE: God has counted your kingdom, and brought it to an end.

THECEL: Tu sei stato pesato sulla stadera, e se' stato trovato scarso.

TEKEL: Pesado has sido en balanza, y fuiste hallado falto.

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.

PHARES: E stato diviso il tuo regno, ed è stato dato a' Medi, e ai Persiani.

PERES: Tu reino fué rompido, y es dado á Medos y Persas.

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

PERES: your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Allora per comando del re fu Daniele vestito di porpora, e gli fu messa al collo una collana d'oro, e fu notificato a tutti, com'egli dovea avere il terzo grado di potestà nel suo regno.

Entonces, mandándolo Belsasar, vistieron á Daniel de púrpura, y en su cuello fué puesto un collar de oro, y pregonaron de él que fuese el tercer señor en el reino.

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

La stessa notte fu ucciso Baltassar re de' Caldei:

La misma noche fué muerto Belsasar, rey de los Caldeos.

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain.

E Dario il Medo gli succedette nel regno in età di sessanta due anni. Daniele è fatto superiore a tutti i satrapi del regno, ma essendo stato accusato di aver fatta orazione al Dio del cielo, e gittato nella fossa de' lioni, donde esce salvo, e illeso, e son puniti gli accusatori. Il re comanda, che sia rispettato il Dio di Daniele.

Y Darío de Media tomó el reino, siendo de sesenta y dos años.

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.
