1Hizo el rey Nabucodonosor una estatua de oro de sesenta codos de altura y seis de anchura, y la puso en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
2Mandó, pues, el rey Nabucodonosor juntar los sátrapas, magistrados y jueces, los capitanes y grandes señores, y los prefectos y los gobernadores todos de las provincias, para que asistiesen a la dedicación de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
3Se reunieron, pues, los sátrapas, los magistrados, y los jueces, y los capitanes, y los grandes señores, y los presidentes de los tribunales, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para concurrir a la dedicación de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor. Y estaban en pie delante de la estatua erigida por el rey Nabucosonosor,
4y gritaba un pregonero en alta voz: A vosotros, ¡oh pueblos, tribus y lenguas!, se os manda,
5que en el mismo punto en que oyereis el sonido de la trompeta, de la flauta, del arpa, de la zampoña y del salterio, y de la sinfonía, y de toda especie de instrumentos músicos, postrándoos, adoréis la estatua de oro erigida por el rey Nabucodonosor.
6Que si alguno no se postrare, y no la adorare, en el mismo momento será arrojado en un horno de fuego ardiente.
7Así, pues, luego que los pueblos todos oyeron el sonido de la trompeta, de la flauta, del arpa, de la zampoña, y del salterio, y de la sinfonía, y de toda especie de instrumentos músicos, postrándose todos los pueblos, tribus y lenguas, adoraron la estatua de oro que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
8Y súbito en el mismo momento fueron algunos caldeos a acusar a los judíos;
9y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: ¡Oh rey, vive eternamente!
10Tú, ¡oh rey!, has dado un decreto para que todo hombre que oyere el sonido de la trompeta, de la flauta, y del arpa, de la zampoña, y del salterio, y de la sinfonía, y de toda especie de instrumentos músicos, se postre, y adore la estatua de oro;
11y que cualquiera que no se postrare y no la adorare, sea arrojado en un horno de fuego ardiente.
12Hay, pues, tres hombres entre los judíos, a los cuales tú constituiste sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia, que son Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, estos hombres han despreciado, oh rey, tu decreto; no dan culto a tus dioses, ni adoran la estatua de oro que has levantado.
13Entonces Nabucodonosor, lleno de furor y saña, mandó que le trajesen a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales al momento fueron conducidos a la presencia del rey.
14Y les habló el rey Nabucodonosor, diciendo: ¿Es verdad, ¡oh Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago!, que no dais culto a mis dioses, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que yo hice levantar?
15Ahora, pues, si estáis dispuestos a obedecer, al punto que oigáis el sonido de la trompeta, de la flauta, del arpa, de la zampoña, y del salterio, y de la sinfonía, y de todo género de instrumentos músicos, postraos, y adorad la estatua que yo he hecho; pero si no la adoráis, al instante seréis arrojados en el horno ardiente de fuego. ¿Y cuál es el dios que os librará de mi mano?
16Respondieron Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: No es necesario que nosotros te respondamos sobre esto.
17Porque he aquí que nuestro Dios, a quien adoramos, puede librarnos del horno del fuego ardiente, y sustraernos, oh rey, de tus manos.
18Que si él no quisiere, sepas, ¡oh rey!, que nosotros no daremos culto a tus dioses, ni adoraremos la estatua de oro que has levantado.
19Se enfureció con esto Nabucodonosor, y cambió el aspecto de su rostro para con Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, y mandó que se encendiese el horno con fuego siete veces mayor de lo acostumbrado.
20Y dio orden a unos soldados de los más fuertes de su ejército para que atando de pies y manos a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los arrojasen al horno de fuego ardiente.
21Y al punto fueron atados aquellos tres varones, y echados en el horno ardiente de fuego con sus fajas, y tiaras, y calzados, y vestidos.
22Porque era urgente mandato del rey, y el horno estaba extraordinariamente encendido. Pero de repente las llamas del fuego mataron a aquellos hombres que habían echado a Sidrac, a Misac, y a Abdénago.
23Y estos tres varones Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago cayeron atados en medio del horno de ardientes llamas.<CM><CM><CM><CM>24. Y andaban por en medio de las llamas loando a Dios, y bendiciendo al Señor.<CM><CM>25. Y Azarías, poniéndose en pie, oró de esta manera, y abriendo su boca en medio del fuego, dijo:<CM><CM>26. Bendito eres, ¡oh Señor Dios de nuestros padres!, y digno es de alabanza tu Nombre, y glorioso por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>27. Porque justo eres en todo aquello que has hecho con nosotros; y verdaderas o perfectas son todas las obras tuyas, rectos tus caminos, y justos todos tus juicios.<CM><CM>28. Pues justos fueron los juicios tuyos, según los cuales hiciste recaer todas estas cosas sobre nosotros, y sobre la santa ciudad de nuestros padres, Jerusalén; porque en verdad y en justicia enviaste todas estas cosas por causa de nuestros pecados.<CM><CM>29. Puesto que nosotros hemos pecado y obrado inicuamente, apostatando de ti, y en todo hemos faltado,<CM><CM>30. sin querer atender a tus preceptos, ni observarlos, ni guardarlos, según tú habías dispuesto para que fuésemos felices.<CM><CM>31. Todo cuanto, pues, has enviado sobre nosotros, y todo lo que nos has hecho, justísimamente lo has hecho:<CM><CM>32. y nos has entregado en manos de nuestros malvados, perversos y prevaricadores enemigos, y de un rey injusto y el peor de toda la tierra.<CM><CM>33. Y en esta sazón no podemos abrir la boca, siendo, como somos, objeto de confusión y de oprobio para tus siervos y para aquellos que te adoran.<CM><CM>34. Te rogamos, Señor, que por amor de tu Nombre no nos abandones para siempre, ni destruyas tu alianza con Israel:<CM><CM>35. Ni apartes de nosotros tu misericordia, por amor de Abrahán, tu amado, y de Isaac, siervo tuyo, y de Israel, tu santo:<CM><CM>36. a los cuales hablaste, prometiéndoles que multiplicarías su linaje como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena que está en la playa del mar.<CM><CM>37. Porque nosotros, ¡oh Señor!, hemos venido a ser la más pequeña de todas las naciones, y estamos hoy día abatidos en todo el mundo por causa de nuestros pecados.<CM><CM>38. Y no tenemos en este tiempo ni príncipe, ni caudillo, ni profeta, ni holocausto, ni sacrificio, ni ofrenda, ni incienso, ni lugar donde presentarte las primicias,<CM><CM>39. a fin de poder alcanzar tu misericordia. Pero recíbenos tú, ¡oh Señor!, arrepentidos de corazón y con espíritu humillado.<CM><CM>40. Como recibías el holocausto de los carneros y toros, y los sacrificios de millares de gordos corderos, así sea hoy agradable nuestro sacrificio en presencia tuya; puesto que jamás quedan confundidos aquellos que en ti confían.<CM><CM>41. Y ahora te seguimos con todo el corazón, y te tememos, o respetamos, y buscamos tu rostro.<CM><CM>42. No quieras, pues, confundirnos: haz, sí, con nosotros, según la mansedumbre tuya, y según tu grandísima misericordia.<CM><CM>43. Y líbranos, con tus prodigios, y glorifica, ¡oh Señor!, tu Nombre.<CM><CM>44. Y confundidos sean todos cuantos hacen sufrir tribulaciones a tus siervos, confundidos sean por medio de tu infinito poder, y aniquilada quede su fuerza.<CM><CM>45. Y sepan que sólo tú eres el Señor Dios y el glorioso en toda la tierra.<CM><CM>46. Entretanto los ministros del rey que los habían arrojado, no cesaban de cebar el horno con un cierto betún, estopa y pez, y con sarmientos.<CM><CM>47. Y se alzaba la llama sobre el horno cuarenta y nueve codos;<CM><CM>48. y se extendió, y abrazó a los caldeos que halló cerca del horno.<CM><CM>49. Y el ángel del Señor habiendo descendido al horno, estaba con Azarías y con sus compañeros, y los preservaba de la llama del fuego del horno.<CM><CM>50. E hizo que en medio del horno soplase como un viento fresco y húmedo que los recreaba; y el fuego no les tocó en parte alguna, ni los afligió, ni causó la menor molestia.<CM><CM>51. Entonces aquellos tres jóvenes, como si no tuviesen los tres sino una sola boca, alababan y glorificaban y bendecían a Dios en medio del horno, diciendo:<CM><CM>52. Bendito seas tú, ¡oh Señor Dios de nuestros padres!, y digno eres de loor, y de gloria, y de ser ensalzado para siempre; bendito sea tu santo y glorioso Nombre, y digno de ser alabado y sobremanera ensalzado en todos los siglos.<CM><CM>53. Bendito eres tú en el templo santo de tu gloria, y sobre todo loor y sobre toda gloria por todos los siglos de siglos.<CM><CM>54. Bendito eres tú en el trono de tu reino, y sobre todo loor y sobre toda gloria por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>55. Bendito eres tú que con tu vista penetras los abismos, y estás sentado sobre querubines, y eres digno de loor, y de ser ensalzado por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>56. Bendito eres tú en el firmamento del cielo, y digno de loor, y de gloria por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>57. Obras todas del Señor, bendecid al Señor, y loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>58. Angeles del Señor, bendecid al Señor: loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>59. Cielos, bendecid al Señor, alabadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>60. Aguas todas que estáis sobre los cielos*, bendecid al Señor, alabadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>61. Virtudes todas, o milicias celestiales, bendecid vosotras al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>62. Sol y luna, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>63. Estrellas del cielo, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>64. Lluvias todas y rocíos, bendecid al Señor, alabadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>65. Espíritus o vientos de Dios, bendecid todos vosotros al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>66. Fuego y calor, bendecid vosotros al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>67. Frío y calor, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>68. Rocíos y escarchas, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>69. Hielos y fríos, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>70. Heladas y nieves, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>71. Noches y días, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>72. Luz y tinieblas, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>73. Relámpagos y nubes, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>74. Bendiga al Señor la tierra, alábele y ensálcele sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>75. Montes y collados, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>76. Plantas todas que nacéis en la tierra, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>77. Fuentes, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>78. Mares y ríos, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle sobre todas las cosas por todos los siglos.<CM><CM>79. Ballenas y peces todos, que giráis por las aguas, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>80. Aves todas del cielo, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>81. Bestias todas y ganados, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas<CM><CM>82. </b>¡Oh hijos de los hombres!, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>83. Bendiga Israel al Señor, alábele y ensálcele por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>84. Vosotros, sacerdotes del Señor, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>85. Siervos del Señor, bendecid vosotros al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>86. Espíritus y almas de los justos, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>87. Vosotros, santos y humildes de corazón, bendecid al Señor, alabadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas.<CM><CM>88. Vosotros, Ananías, Azarías y Misael, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por todos los siglos sobre todas las cosas. Porque él nos ha salvado del infierno, o del sepulcro, y librado de las manos de la muerte, y nos ha sacado de en medio de las ardientes llamas, y libertado del fuego del horno.<CM><CM>89. Tributad las gracias al Señor, porque es tan bueno, y por ser eterna su misericordia.<CM><CM>90. Vosotros todos, los que dais culto al Señor, bendecid al Dios de los dioses, loadle y tributadle gracias, porque su misericordia permanece por todos los siglos.
24Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor quedó atónito, se levantó apresuradamente, y dijo a sus magnates: ¿No hemos mandado arrojar tres hombres atados aquí en medio del fuego? Respondieron diciendo: Así es, ¡oh rey!
25Repuso él, y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro hombres sueltos, que se pasean por medio del fuego, sin que hayan padecido ningún daño, y el aspecto del cuarto es semejante a un hijo de Dios.
26Se acercó entonces Nabucodonosor a la boca del horno de fuego ardiente, y dijo: Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, siervos del Dios Altísimo, salid fuera, y venid. Y luego salieron de en medio del fuego Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago.
27Y agolpándose los sátrapas, y magistrados, y jueces, y los cortesanos del rey, contemplaban aquellos varones, en cuyo cuerpo no había tenido el fuego poder alguno; y ni un cabello de su cabeza se había chamuscado, ni sus ropas habían padecido nada, ni habían tan siquiera percibido el olor o vecindad del fuego.
28Entonces Nabucodonosor prorrumpió en estas palabras: ¡Bendito sea el Dios de ellos, el Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, el cual ha enviado su ángel, y ha librado a sus siervos, que creyeron o confiaron en él, y pospusieron el mandato del rey, y sacrificaron sus cuerpos por no servir ni adorar a otro dios alguno fuera de su Dios!
29Este, pues, es el decreto que yo expido: Perezca cualquier pueblo, tribu o lengua que hable mal del Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago; y sean derruidas sus casas, porque no hay otro dios que pueda así salvar.
30En seguida el rey ensalzó a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago en la provincia de Babilonia.

1EL rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro, la altura de la cual era de sesenta codos, su anchura de seis codos: levantóla en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
2Y envió el rey Nabucodonosor á juntar los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, oidores, receptores, los del consejo, presidentes, y á todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para que viniesen á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
3Fueron pues reunidos los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, los oidores, receptores, los del consejo, los presidentes, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado: y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
4Y el pregonero pregonaba en alta voz: Mándase á vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones, y lenguas,
5En oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postraréis y adoraréis la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor ha levantado:
6Y cualquiera que no se postrare y adorare, en la misma hora será echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
7Por lo cual, en oyendo todos los pueblos el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, se postraron, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
8Por esto en el mismo tiempo algunos varones Caldeos se llegaron, y denunciaron de los Judíos,
9Hablando y diciendo al rey Nabucodonosor: Rey, para siempre vive.
10Tú, oh rey, pusiste ley que todo hombre en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, se postrase y adorase la estatua de oro:
11Y el que no se postrase y adorase, fuese echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
12Hay unos varones Judíos, los cuales pusiste tú sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia; Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: estos varones, oh rey, no han hecho cuenta de ti; no adoran tus dioses, no adoran la estatua de oro que tú levantaste.
13Entonces Nabucodonosor dijo con ira y con enojo que trajesen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego. Al punto fueron traídos estos varones delante del rey.
14Habló Nabucodonosor, y díjoles: ¿Es verdad Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que vosotros no honráis á mi dios, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que he levantado?
15Ahora pues, ¿estáis prestos para que en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postréis, y adoréis la estatua que he hecho? Porque si no la adorareis, en la misma hora seréis echados en medio de un horno de fuego ardiendo: ¿y qué dios será aquel que os libre de mis manos?
16Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego respondieron y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: No cuidamos de responderte sobre este negocio.
17He aquí nuestro Dios á quien honramos, puede librarnos del horno de fuego ardiendo; y de tu mano, oh rey, nos librará.
18Y si no, sepas, oh rey, que tu dios no adoraremos, ni tampoco honraremos la estatua que has levantado.
19Entonces Nabucodonosor fué lleno de ira, y demudóse la figura de su rostro sobre Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: así habló, y ordenó que el horno se encendiese siete veces tanto de lo que cada vez solía.
20Y mandó á hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que atasen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.
21Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, y sus calzas, y sus turbantes, y sus vestidos, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
22Y porque la palabra del rey daba priesa, y había procurado que se encendiese mucho, la llama del fuego mató á aquellos que habían alzado á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego.
23Y estos tres varones, Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
24Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se espantó, y levantóse apriesa, y habló, y dijo á los de su consejo: ¿No echaron tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.
25Respondió él y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos: y el parecer del cuarto es semejante á hijo de los dioses.
26Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó á la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, siervos del alto Dios, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, salieron de en medio del fuego.
27Y juntáronse los grandes, los gobernadores, los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar estos varones, como el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni cabello de sus cabezas fué quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego había pasado por ellos.
28Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel, y libró sus siervos que esperaron en él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que sirviesen ni adorasen otro dios que su Dios.
29Por mí pues se pone decreto, que todo pueblo, nación, ó lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay dios que pueda librar como éste.
30Entonces el rey engrandeció á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego en la provincia de Babilonia.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then the herald cried aloud, “To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages,
5that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.
6Whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace the same hour.”
7Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, the nations, and the languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near and brought accusation against the Jews.
9They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O king, live for ever!
10You, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music shall fall down and worship the golden image;
11and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have not respected you. They don’t serve your gods, and don’t worship the golden image which you have set up.”
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. Then these men were brought before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar answered them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my gods and you don’t worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, good; but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the middle of a burning fiery furnace. Who is that god who will deliver you out of my hands?”
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
17If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
18But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”

24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. He spoke and said to his counselors, “Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire?” They answered the king, “True, O king.”
25He answered, “Look, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they are unharmed. The appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.”
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace. He spoke and said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the middle of the fire.
27The local governors, the deputies, and the governors, and the king’s counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies. The hair of their head wasn’t singed. Their pants weren’t changed. The smell of fire wasn’t even on them.
28Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree that every people, nation, and language which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill, because there is no other god who is able to deliver like this.”
