EN el año tercero del reinado de Joacim rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia á Jerusalem, y cercóla.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

junge Leute an den Hof bringen, die ohne jeden Makel und von schöner Gestalt wären, begabt für jegliche Wissenschaft, von gutem Verstand und rascher Auffassung, und somit befähigt, als Pagen im königlichen Palaste zu dienen; diese solle er in der Schrift und Sprache der Chaldäer unterweisen
Muchachos en quienes no hubiese tacha alguna, y de buen parecer, y enseñados en toda sabiduría, y sabios en ciencia, y de buen entendimiento, é idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los Caldeos.
Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

A los cuales el príncipe de los eunucos puso nombres: y puso á Daniel, Beltsasar; y á Ananías, Sadrach; y á Misael, Mesach; y á Azarías, Abed-nego.
Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

Daniel aber war entschlossen, sich nicht mit der Speise von der königlichen Tafel und mit dem Weine, den der König trank, zu verunreinigen. Daher bat er den obersten Kämmerer um die Gunst, sich nicht verunreinigen zu müssen. (a) 3Mo 11
Y Daniel propuso en su corazón de no contaminarse en la ración de la comida del rey, ni en el vino de su beber: pidió por tanto al príncipe de los eunucos de no contaminarse.

doch sprach der oberste Kämmerer zu Daniel: Ich fürchte nur, mein Herr, der König, der euch Speise und Getränk bestimmt hat, könnte finden, dass ihr schlechter aussehet als die andern Knaben, eure Altersgenossen, und dann wäre beim König durch eure Schuld mein Kopf verwirkt.
Y dijo el príncipe de los eunucos á Daniel: Tengo temor de mi señor el rey, que señaló vuestra comida y vuestra bebida; pues luego que él habrá visto vuestros rostros más tristes que los de los muchachos que son semejantes á vosotros, condenaréis para con el rey mi cabeza.
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”
Da sprach Daniel zu Hammelzar, den der oberste Kämmerer über Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asaria gesetzt hatte: (1) die grÜs. lautet: "Da sprach Daniel zu Abiesri, dem obersten Kämmerer, der über Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja gesetzt war". Auch in V. 16 hat sie statt Hammelzar wieder den Namen Abiesri.

Versuche es doch zehn Tage lang mit deinen Knechten; man gebe uns Gemüse zu essen und Wasser zu trinken,
Prueba, te ruego, tus siervos diez días, y dennos legumbres á comer, y agua á beber.
Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

und dann besieh dir unser Aussehen und das der Knaben, die von der königlichen Tafel zu essen bekommen, und je nachdem du es dann findest, magst du mit deinen Knechten verfahren.
Parezcan luego delante de ti nuestros rostros, y los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la ración de la comida del rey; y según que vieres, harás con tus siervos.
Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

Und er willfahrte dieser ihrer Bitte und versuchte es zehn Tage lang mit ihnen.

Nach zehn Tagen aber sahen sie besser und wohlgenährter aus als alle Knaben, die von der königlichen Tafel zu essen bekamen.

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

Von nun an stellte Hammelzar ihre Speise und den Wein, den sie trinken sollten, immer beiseite und gab ihnen Gemüse.
Así fué que Melsar tomaba la ración de la comida de ellos, y el vino de su beber, y dábales legumbres.
Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
So the steward took away their delicacies and the wine that they were given to drink, and gave them vegetables.
Diesen vier Knaben aber gab Gott Wisssen und Verständnis für jegliche Schrift und Wissenschaft, und Daniel verstand sich auch auf Gesichte und Träume aller Art.
Y á estos cuatro muchachos dióles Dios conocimiento é inteligencia en todas letras y ciencia: mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.
As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

und der König unterhielt sich mit ihnen. Da erwies sich unter allen nicht einer Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja gewachsen. So traten sie denn in den Dienst des Königs.
