And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”

Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

L'intendant emporta donc les mets délicats et le vin qui leur étaient destinés, et il leur donna des légumes.

Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

À ces quatre jeunes garçons, Dieu accorda de la connaissance et de l'habileté dans toutes les lettres et la sagesse ; de plus, Daniel comprenait toutes les visions et tous les songes.
Y á estos cuatro muchachos dióles Dios conocimiento é inteligencia en todas letras y ciencia: mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.
