23Essas regras têm aparência de sabedoria, pois prescrições deste tipo exigem uma religiosidade fingida, uma falsa humildade e uma disciplina para com o corpo, porém não têm efeito algum quando se trata de subjugar os maus pensamentos e desejos de uma pessoa.

23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

23These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
